Chapter 33
POV: Tamara Davis
Everything seemed surreal. She could hear mumbling and sounds, but she couldn’t open her eyes. No matter how she tried to open them, it was as if a huge sack was over her eyelids. She was numb to everything even to her own body that all it wanted was to rest.
“How could they be so cruel? They have the power to stop the battle, but have they waited for this to happen?” She could hear Shahara’s voice laced with so much fury.
“Shhh… Tone down your voice, Shahara. Tamara was resting.” A voice from Kage hushed her down, but she just heard her scoffed.
“I couldn’t believe they would resort to doing this.” Doc Dreyson seriously commented and heaved a deep sigh.
The mumbling sound just went on and she didn’t have the strength to understand it any further. Her entire system was crashing down with pain and all it wanted was for her to rest. Even her inner wolf was just so exhausted and weak.
“I just hoped Tamara would finally wake up.” Shahara’s voice lingers in her ears, and that was the last words she heard before her consciousness drifted once again.
“How was she?” A low menacing voice made her heartbeat so crazily that she could hear the sound of the machine connected to her chest beeping in an unusual manner.
“What the heck was happening?” The voice demanded.
“She was having an arrest.” Doc Dreyson informed him with a hint of worry and frustration in his voice, and that someone had injected her with something.
With that, everything just turned out black, once again.
Tamara was blinded by the light coming from the white curtain, dancing freely from the wind because of the open window.
She didn’t even remember how many times she had been in the infirmary, and she knew she was once again confined in there.
“Thank God, you’re awake!” Shahara suddenly stated as she stared at her with her worried expression.
Tamara swallowed the lump in her throat, but her mouth was just so dry that it was making it impossible for her to talk.
“Uh, what do you need? Water?’ Shahara guessed with a hint of panic in her voice.
She simply nodded her head in response.
Shahara patiently helped her to drink and assisted her to lean on the headboard of the hospital bed. She was feeling better now.
“What happened? How many hours have I been here?” She asked in her hoarse voice.
Shahara let out a deep sigh and bit her lower lip. She surely didn’t want to tell her. But she needed her to spill the beans.
“Just spill it, Shahara.” She encouraged her to talk.
She couldn’t remember everything, but all she had was that she was fighting so hard with Lindy Mindsor.
“I-It wasn’t just hours, Tamara. You’re here for almost a week already.” Shahara seriously replied making her eyes widened in surprise.
“T-Then, w-what happened with the second round?” She downheartedly inquired.
“Y-You really didn’t know what happened next?” She expectantly queried.
Tamara’s forehead creased as she tried to remember what had happened to her.
***Flashback…
Her heart was pounding so hard and fast that it was making her difficult breathing. She had finally come face to face with Lindy Mindsor.
She felt her legs wobble because of fear.
“I don’t know whether this was a good or a bad thing, but I am really glad that I was able to fight you.” Lindy coldly stated.
Her plain and blank expression didn’t even change one bit.
Tamara’s eyes widened.
“W-What do you mean by that?” She confusedly asked.
Lindy let out a smug smirk before turning into her massive wolf form.
She was undeniably fast. She instantly appeared in front of her, almost biting her if she hadn’t immediately dodged backwards.
Lindy let out a loud growl making the audience growl with her.
Tamara, on the other hand, just felt so scared and unsure. She stared at the full moon watching her underneath, then she closed her eyes as she tried to transform to her inner animalistic side.
But before she could even do that, a huge, long claw had scratched her arm, and she shrieked in pain. Everyone in the audience cheered for Lindy well, not with the Lunar Pack, who were watching her with their worried eyes.
“I prayed to the moon for this round. I needed to win this.” She silently whispered.
She gritted her teeth as her long canines became bared, and she jumped as she shifted into her wolf form. It was being restless inside her that it wanted to avenge the painful wound, Lindy had caused her.
Tamara let out an eerie loud snarl as she tried to counterattack. Lindy wasn’t expecting it that she was being dragged into the ground she painfully cried.
She used that chance to dig her claw deeply into her neck. Blood started to flow down, and she just loved how it smelled.
Tamara was about to dig her claws deeper when all of a sudden, she heard something that was making her ears tinged and ached. Her vision started to become blurry and unsteady. She tried to soothe her ears and eyes using her paw, but to no avail.
It was getting into her nerves making her head throbbed in pain.
Lindy stood up and attacked her so fast and hard that she had forcibly been thrown to the ground, her stomach hurting like her ribs had been broken. Her head bumped into the barricade that was separating them from the audience.
She could feel blood on her lips.
Tamara was trying so hard to keep her eyes open but to no avail. Lindy, in her wolf form, was slowly walking towards her.
Her eyes were blank and dead as if her soul had already been taken away from her.
She heard someone screaming and someone had also been calling her name.
And that was the only thing she had remembered, before fully consumed by the darkness as she closed her eyes.
***End of Flashback…
Shahara licked her lips as she stared at her unbelievably.
“The Alpha of the Midnight Pack Lindy’s father, had been arrested.” She carefully informed her.
Tamara shockingly stared at her.
“W-What?” She unbelievably asked.
Shahara directly stared at her eyes.
“They used a forbidden act and strategy, Tamara not in a battle like this. It was considered cheating. They used a whistle that could tame down a wolf and to make it unfocused into something which were already banned from using ever since King Reeve’s reign, because if the one who’s been targeted by it couldn’t handle the sound it creates, it could lead to madness. The king finds it out.” She softly added.
“What will happen to them now?” Tamara couldn’t hide the deep concern clinging to her voice.
Shahara let out a deep sigh.
“The verdict just came out. Lindy was disqualified from the competition. She’ll be stripped off her title together with his father, the Alpha of their pack. They would become omegas, instead. Whereas the Midnight Pack, who were once been hailed because of their equal treatment and fairness, were now labeled as cheaters. This surely was a great downfall for them.” Shahara devastatingly told her.
Well, she felt the same devastation, Shahara had. She was just so amazed by how fair they were in this competition especially Elder Urticius. And now, this happened.
Tamara let out a heavy sigh.
“That makes you a part of the final three.” Shahara softly stated after a short while.
Her eyes widened as she stared at her her words slowly processing in her mind.
She was now in the final three!
“Together with Maia and Leah…” Shahara seriously added afterwards causing her happiness to be cut shortly.
***
POV: Leah Darkwood
She let out a hearty chuckle.
“I couldn’t believe they could fall into something as easy trick like this.” Leah smugly stated as her fingers were busy tapping at the bar counter.
“That trick was already passed on to generation to generation, I wanted to laugh so hard just by listening to the King’s verdict towards Urticius’ pack. He deserved it for being in our way all the time.” Elder Courdamus smilingly commented.
“And I also needed to thank my brother for giving me his great inventions.” Leah mischievously told them.
“But I commend that Amabella, she surely was hard to beat. If not for the drugs that Aeron had injected you with, you must be on the other end already.” Lamina seriously said as she raised her brow while intently looking at her her wounds in particular.
Leah went silent and she felt her heart being prick with so many needles that it was hurting her.
Well, it was the truth, but the truth was just hard to swallow especially if it was being slapped on her directly from her mother herself.
Cessair cleared his throat getting everyone’s attention.
“In one way or another, we must move on with our next plan. We must be extra careful; it was a crucial thing to execute. And Aeron…” Her father simply called Aeron, who was just listening quietly in the corner of the room.
“Yes, father?” Aeron coldly answered.
“Just prepared a huge amount of your invention that I asked you to formulate. We must prepare for the worst.” Cessair plainly commanded him.
“Yes, father.” Aeron simply replied.
“And Leah… would continue playing her cards… make us proud this time.” Cessair bluntly added as his piercing eyes darted towards her.
Leah bit her lower lip as she held her head down a bit feeling humiliated.
Now, it was all down to her… again.
Hence, it was all fueling her up to win this whole competition for the next Luna Queen. She would win this by hook or by crook!
