Queena’s expression softened significantly as she approached the old Mr. Gibson. “Old Mr. Gibson, I am truly sorry for the trouble caused at this wedding. It is entirely the fault of our Hipps Family.”
She humbled herself greatly, giving the Gibson family ample respect.
The old Mr. Gibson couldn’t stay angry. “As long as Clare and Mollie are fine, with no misunderstandings or other issues between them, I am relieved.”
“That woman came here deliberately to cause trouble,” Queena said, her anger flaring up at the mention of Rachael. “Don’t worry. I will investigate thoroughly and give Mollie an explanation.”
Did they really think the Hipps Family had no one to stand up for them? To dare cause a scene at their wedding?
The wedding resumed and proceeded smoothly according to the plan prepared by the wedding company.
Lara arrived late and joined a group of socialites who were admiring Mollie’s wedding dress. “Mollie’s wedding dress is truly beautiful.”
“I couldn’t find this dress among any major brands.”
“I think it must be custom-made for her, unique and one of a kind.”
“Honestly, if it weren’t for that disruption, this wedding would have been perfect.”
Lara glanced at Mollie, who was in the midst of the ceremony and was momentarily stunned.
She had never seen such a beautiful wedding dress. The white tulle wrapped around Mollie’s delicate figure, perfectly highlighting her slim waist.
Even though Mollie was four months pregnant, the dress concealed her condition completely.
The grand crystal chandelier in the center of the hall shone brightly. The bride’s shoulders were partially exposed, adorned with a pure red ruby on her chest, and matching earrings that moved gently with her steps, accentuating her fair skin.
The elegant design of the dress highlighted her slender waist, and her hair was styled in an updo that complemented the snow-white gown.
The delicate pleats at the hem of the dress swayed gently with her steps, making her look like a fairy walking on waves.
Beautiful!
Extremely beautiful!
Almost breathtakingly beautiful!
A hint of jealousy flashed in Lara’s eyes.
Seeing others happy made her extremely uncomfortable, especially when she saw the couple not far away. It filled her with anger.
A tall man stood beside a woman in a cocktail dress. The man was handsome, and the woman was beautiful, making them an eye-catching pair.
The man in a sleek black suit had striking features. Lara stared longingly at Franklin’s chiseled profile.
She thought to herself that she should be the one standing next to him now!
She wanted to walk over to him but was intercepted by Jaelynn Hipps and Maritza Hipps.
“Lara, long time no see.”
“You are still as beautiful as ever.”
Lara had no choice but to stop and exchange pleasantries with them.
The sisters dragged Lara to the refreshment area for some desserts.
It was laughable. Everyone knew Lara always wanted to disrupt Sylvia and Mr. Maskelyne. On a day like this, they wouldn’t give her a chance to get close to Mr. Maskelyne!
Lara was anxious but couldn’t break free from the sisters. She craned her neck to look for Franklin but couldn’t find him anywhere.
Damn it!
The wedding ceremony proceeded smoothly, and after exchanging rings, the officiant declared the ceremony complete.
The Hipps Family’s banquet officially began, with exquisite dishes being served one after another.
The groom took the bride to change into their toast outfits.
When Mollie reappeared, everyone was once again amazed.
The classic round-neck design was stylish and accentuated her slim figure while hiding her baby bump. The fishtail hem added a romantic touch, and the wine-red color made her skin look even fairer.
“This toast dress is stunning!”
“Oh my god, it’s beautiful.”
“I bet these dresses will inspire knock-offs in online stores soon.”
“I really want to know who designed these dresses!”
The socialites and some wealthy ladies couldn’t help but express their admiration.
Given her pregnancy, Mollie only accompanied Clare to toast a few important guests before excusing herself due to fatigue and sitting down at Queena’s table to rest.
Clare continued the toasts alone.
The guests understood and didn’t make things difficult for the bride.
Sylvia quietly left the banquet and went directly to the lounge.
Inside the lounge, Rachael was tied to a chair with a handkerchief stuffed in her mouth, looking disheveled like a ghost.
Sylvia entered, and the men in the room stepped back upon seeing her. “Miss.”
“Has she talked?” Sylvia asked as she walked over to Rachael, squatting down and gently lifting Rachael’s chin with her slender fingers, forcing her to look up.
Their eyes met.
Rachael’s eyes were filled with hatred. “Mmm… mmm…”
Sylvia removed the handkerchief from Rachael’s mouth and tossed it aside. “I don’t know who you are, nor am I interested. I just want to know who sent you and why you caused trouble.”
Rachael turned her face away stubbornly. “No one sent me. I just wanted to extort some money.”
“Really?” Sylvia sneered, glancing at a fruit knife on the table next to a plate of fruit.
She picked up the knife and played with it for a moment before suddenly stabbing it into Rachael’s chair, narrowly missing her body.
Rachael closed her eyes in fear. “Ah! If you kill me, you’ll go to jail!”
With a thud, the knife embedded itself deeply into the chair.
Rachael breathed a sigh of relief but was terrified when she saw how deeply the knife had penetrated.
This… this wasn’t something an ordinary person could do!
If it had been aimed at her body…
Rachael felt dizzy and looked at Sylvia. “You… you…”
“So, do you want to end up like this chair?” Sylvia smiled beautifully.
But as she spoke, Rachael’s chair collapsed under her.
The knife had destroyed the chair’s support point, causing it to fall apart instantly.
Rachael fell to the ground with a thud, too shocked to close her mouth.
“How is this possible?”
Did the chair actually collapse?
“Anything is possible.” Sylvia’s red lips curved slightly. She wore a water-red cocktail dress that complemented her fair skin perfectly.
She looked like an angel but acted like a demon.
“So, are you ready to talk?”
Rachael’s face turned ashen as she stared in terror at Sylvia’s stunning face. How could someone so beautiful do something so cruel?
“I… I… Someone added me on Messenger yesterday and transferred $30, 000 to me. They told me to disrupt the Hipps Family wedding… The Hipps Family is powerful; I thought they would just scold me and not do anything serious. So… I came for the money.” Rachael glanced at her phone on the table. “My phone is right there; you can check it.”
Sylvia took the old phone and unlocked it effortlessly, opening Messenger.
Rachael was shocked. “How did you unlock it?”
“Unlocking a phone isn’t that hard,” Sylvia replied casually.
Rachael found Sylvia even more terrifying and unpredictable.
Rachael was on the verge of tears. “I’m sorry; I didn’t know there was someone like you in the Hipps Family. It was my mistake; I shouldn’t have come for money. But I really was following orders…”
Sylvia ignored her pleas and checked Messenger’s chat history.
Just as she was about to contact the person who paid Rachael, she found that they had already blocked Rachael.
“They’re quick,” Sylvia sneered, noting down the person’s ID.
Tracking someone through their Messenger ID wasn’t impossible.
She handed the phone back to Rachael and glanced at the terrified woman. “Get out of here and don’t let me see you again. If they contact you again, tell me. Understand?”
“Yes… yes…” Rachael scrambled out of the room in panic. Running was better than waiting for death!
As she reached the door, she was stopped by several men in black suits. She turned back in tears, looking at Sylvia in fear. “Did you change your mind? I really was following orders…”
“You look like you’ve been bullied; if you run out now, guests might think I mistreated you,” Sylvia said calmly. “I suddenly remembered something I need you to do.”
Rachael felt like she was about to collapse from fear. “What is it? I’ll do anything I can…”
At that moment, there was a knock on the door.
“Come in,” Sylvia called out, and several reporters entered with their cameras. “Miss Andrews, you called us?”
“This woman is involved; interview her for an accurate report,” Sylvia said before turning to Rachael. “Apologize properly to my uncle and aunt on camera. Got it?”
Rachael cried uncontrollably but nodded vigorously. At least she wasn’t going to lose a hand or foot… Thank goodness.
