The knife that Dave once gripped tightly in his hand, clattered to the ground as he screamed. His pupils dilated as the sharp pain coursed through his arm, his wrist snapped back at an unnatural angle- a sickening crack that was both loud and visceral. His hand, still holding the knife moments before, now dangled uselessly by his side.
Dave’s breath hitched as he looked at his broken hand with wide eyes, his eyes already watering.
“Arghmm,” he let out- a pained groan escaping his throat as he could not believe his eyes.
Bryan and Aiden smirked and got back up as a woman emerged and stepped forward.
“Il durezhe nakrath,” she muttered, her gaze fixed on Dave’s twisted hand. She also had a low, satisfied smile creep onto her lips as she said to Dave, “You shouldn’t have done this.”
But Dave was in too much pain to understand what she was saying as she gave him more.
“Firaate zeroth naar kevalti,” she whispered and with a swift motion, she stretched out her hand toward Dave and flicked her wrist.
Dave immediately let out another scream as his other hand, the one still holding Kira, began to bend in the same unnatural and painful way as the first. His wrist cracked audibly and was very satisfying for the woman who was putting him through so much pain- his fingers spasming painfully.
His grip on Kira’s arm loosened, and the sudden release caused her to stumble backward, free from his painful hold which Kira thought might leave a mark, considering how hard he was holding her.
Kira gasped in a mixture of shock and relief as she was freed. She stumbled forward a step, turned with wide eyes as she looked at Dave, whose hands were now grotesquely twisted at impossible angles.
“That must hurt,” she said and made a face as if she could also feel his pain. “That must really hurt.”
Kira did sound very sarcastic as if mocking him too, just the way he had mocked her mates.
“Good riddance to bad rubbish,” she muttered and started walking away, her heart pounding a little, but before she could reach her destination, which was her mates’ arms, they were already by her side in an instant. Their movements were calm, gentle, and also protective as Bryan quickly reached for the ropes that bound her hands at her back, and untied the knots.
Once her hands were free, Aiden stepped closer, checking her body for any other injuries. While, on the other hand, Bryan’s fingers brushed over her wrists. Next thing, he brought her hands to his lips and kissed her wrists softly as if trying to take the pain away, even if it meant he had to be the one in pain instead.
Then he looked at her, concern clear in his eyes, although Kira just looked at him, surprised but in a good way. It made her feel very good.
“Are you okay?” Aiden asked, his voice soft as he leaned down and gently kissed her forehead, then the side of her neck, before he pulled back, his face also full of concern as he asked again, “Love, are you alright? Shocked? Is there anything you need?”
Kira just smiled and closed her eyes for a moment, her heart swelling at the overwhelming care from both of them, while they looked at her, a bit surprised at what she was doing, before she opened her eyes and nodded, “I am alright now.”
“Are you?” Bryan asked and chuckled, inspecting the cut on her arm as he raised an eyebrow, amazed. “You heal fast for an Omega,” he said. “I mean no insult,” he uttered right after, so she wouldn’t misunderstand him.
“I know,” Kira laughed softly, “And for the healing part, I guess I am a lucky Omega then,” she said with a wink. “A win for me.”
Overcome with relief, Bryan and Aiden both pulled Kira into a tight embrace. Bryan’s face buried in her neck with his arms wrapped securely around her, while Aiden took the other side, his face in her neck, before he changed the position to his cheek resting against her shoulder.
Both of them breathed her in, content and happy to have her safe, as Kira giggled, hugging them tighter. She was glad to be in their arms again. She could not show it earlier, but how much she had missed them.
After their tight embrace, the three of them pulled back from the hug, turning to look at a crying Dave who was now on his knees, crying out in agony, the fractures clear. His mouth was opened in a silent scream as he stared at his hands, his fingers uselessly clutching at nothing.
“I WOULD KILL YOU ALL,” He shouted from both anger and pain, tears rolling down his face.
“Would you?” The woman stepped forward and scoffed, a cruel smile spreading across her lips. “The audacity for you to speak needs to be studied,” she said to Dave before whispering, “naar kevalti,” causing Dave to scream more in pain.
“Alphas,” the woman called out to Bryan and Aiden, “What would you have done with him?”
“Let him live… for now,” Aiden said firmly.
“As you wish,” the woman obeyed and let go of her hold on Dave.
Afterward, Aiden turned to Ryker, who stood just a few paces away, smirking at how things were now going for Dave.
“Ryker, please, take him away,” Aiden said.
“It would be my pleasure,” Ryker gave a curt nod and approached Dave, his boots crunching on dry leaves.
“Come on, get up.” Ryker muttered through gritted teeth as he grabbed Dave by the arm and yanked him upward, not caring for the pain he was in. Instead, he even wanted to cause him more pain, as he forced him up to his feet.
As Ryker dragged Dave away, Dave’s knees buckled under him, but Ryker didn’t stop. He just dragged him, his grip strong.
“Are you trying to break my arm too?” Dave managed to ask, despite the pain he was in, as he was being dragged away.
“Shut up, or I will break your arms and then that mouth of yours,” Ryker threatened and pulled him though the woods away from the others.
As Ryker and Dave disappeared, heading back to where their cars were parked, the woman turned her gaze back to Bryan, Aiden and Kira, facing them as she smiled at them.
“Morane?” Kira asked, a bit surprised. She had not seen the face of the woman who saved her earlier, as she was more focused on getting away from Dave and being in her mates’ arms.
“It is good to see you safe, Luna,” Morane said with a smile.
“Thank you so much,” Kira spoke softly with gratitude.
“But how are you even here?” Kira asked out of curiosity. “You were not before…like… How?”
