After he said “yes,” Kayden turned to Eugene and said indifferently, “I’m not interested in reviving Seclela’s traditional medicine, and I don’t save people to prove my medical skills. Your worldly reputation limits your vision and you cannot represent Seclela’s medicine.”
With that, Kayden turned and walked away, and this time, no one dared to stop him. Everyone could only watch his retreating figure.
Kayden’s identity needed no further proof!
He was the commander of Seclela, the nightmare of the border enemies, a figure that makes countless heads of state tremble at the mention of his name. Did he need to prove his identity or stir up trouble? Of course he didn’t.
Eugene stood there, stunned, staring at Kayden’s back, feeling a wave of heat rush to his cheeks.
“Your worldly reputation limits your vision and you cannot represent Seclela’s medicine.”
What a striking statement!
Yet, it was precisely this remark that made Eugene understand a profound truth.
Truly powerful people don’t feel the need to prove anything, just like Cael Gabor, whose name is often heard in society, but almost no one has actually seen him. It’s not that he leaves the world with just a name. Rather, he has grasped the true realm of existence, indifferent to worldly matters. This doesn’t mean he doesn’t value Seclela’s traditional medicine. Instead, once a person truly understands Seclela’s traditional medicine, they become indifferent to worldly affairs.
This is a realm-the highest realm of Seclela’s traditional medicine, the realm of the Hermit.
Just as Kayden was about to push open the door, Memphis called out in a hoarse, trembling voice, “Mr. Scott, I’ll pay two billion dollars! Please, save my son.”
But Kayden remained silent, walking straight out of the John family’s front door!
Money? Kayden didn’t lack it. To him, one hundred million and two billion were the same.
Seeing Kayden leave, Memphis deflated like a punctured balloon, collapsing to the ground.
A few of his sons rushed to help him up, while Eugene quickly came forward to check on him.
After a moment, Memphis recovered, letting out a long sigh, his face filled with distress. “Quick, call Coleman!”
Before long, one of his sons came forward with a phone that had Coleman’s number dialed.
Memphis took the call, and Coleman’s voice came through. “Memphis, how’s it going? Is Zion feeling better? My doctor friend has already gone over. If he’s willing to help, I’m sure he can cure Zion.”
Hearing this, Memphis felt a wave of frustration. He sighed and replied, “Coleman, here’s the situation.” He recounted what had just happened, then asked, “Is there any way to salvage this?”
Coleman fell silent for a long moment before saying, “I don’t know. He’s a tough one to deal with. But why don’t you give it a shot? Trying is better than not trying at all.”
“Okay,” Memphis responded, hanging up the phone, his gaze turning sharp. He stood up from the ground and declared forcefully, “As long as there’s a glimmer of hope, don’t give up! Everyone in the John family, go bring that young man here. Whatever he requests, we must satisfy him.”
This was the John family’s only chance, as well as Memphis’s chance for redemption.
Once outside the John family’s door, Kayden dialed Professor Flores’s number.
Soon, Professor Flores’s excited voice came through. “Mr. Scott, have you decided to come teach at our school?”
Kayden felt speechless. Hearing Professor Flores’s words made him want to hang up, but he patiently replied, “No, Professor Flores.”
“Oh, I see!” Professor Flores’s tone immediately dropped, but he quickly regained his enthusiasm. “By the way, we recorded your lecture at Inassea Great Hall. I’ve watched it several times and found it outstanding. I’d like to turn your lecture into a teaching model for the education department to promote across universities, so both students and teachers can learn from your teaching style and understanding of traditional medicine. Would you mind?”
Kayden paused, surprised. For others, this was a golden opportunity, a chance for fame and profit. But for him, it didn’t seem appealing. However, he didn’t care what others thought.
He was about to tell Professor Flores that it didn’t matter, but Professor Flores beat him to it. “Don’t worry, Mr. Scott. This time, I’ll make you a renowned figure in Seclela’s education and traditional medicine circles. I know you’re not interested in these things, but it would be a waste of your talent if it goes unrecognized.”
“Alright!” Kayden replied quickly. “Do what you want. I called to ask where Maverick Quinn lives.”
Professor Flores hesitated for a few seconds before saying, “The last time I saw him, he was under a bridge, just an old homeless man. He was sitting there fortune-telling, and I was curious, so I went over to take a look. I even had him read my fortune, and that’s when I found out he’s Sage Doctor Maverick Quinn!”
Do fortune-telling under a bridge? An old homeless man? How reliable could Professor Flores be? Kayden felt exasperated. He shouldn’t have trusted him.
“Mr. Scott, meeting someone like Maverick takes luck. He’s not an ordinary person. I’m suggesting this because I believe you have that luck!” Professor Flores explained, sounding utterly unconvincing.
Kayden was completely speechless and decided to hang up the phone.
There were too many bridges in the East area, and many old men fortune-telling under them. With so many people, how could I possibly find one?
Forget it! This trip was a wasted effort.
With that thought, Kayden prepared to buy a plane ticket to leave. Staying in this troublesome place was pointless.
“Mr. Scott.” Suddenly, a woman’s voice called out from behind him.
Kayden turned to see a woman walking towards him, carrying a little girl.
It was Ivy and Vivian. Kayden paused and asked, “What are you doing here?”
Ivy approached Kayden, setting Vivian down. “We’re waiting for you!”
Kayden was taken aback, assessing Ivy. He knew she was beautiful, especially with her new short haircut, which made her look even more refined. But he wasn’t interested in her, so he asked, “Is there something you need?”
Ivy smiled and said, “You’ve helped us so much. Don’t you think we should treat you to a meal? Since we met in Vernon, it must be fate. You’re not going to refuse to eat with me, are you?”
“You were waiting for me?” Kayden glanced at where she had come from.
Ivy replied straightforwardly, “Yes.”
Seeing Ivy being so proactive, Kayden felt there was no need to delay any longer. He hadn’t eaten since leaving the John family, so he nodded slightly and said, “Alright.”
