Everyone was waiting for Kayden to speak, but he fell silent, as if at a loss for words.
Indeed, under Eugene’s pressure, Kayden’s true colors began to show.
Eugene pressed on, relentlessly interrogating, “Since you claim that I haven’t learned enough, please tell me: what is the Basic Theory of Traditional Medicine?”
“Which of the four diagnostic methods in traditional medicine do you know?”
“If you were to diagnose a patient from the perspective of the Five Elements, do you know where to start?”
With each question, Eugene’s gaze bore into Kayden, and by the time he finished, his aura had reached its zenith. To everyone present, Eugene appeared to be a true master, while Kayden’s identity as a fool became increasingly evident.
All eyes were on Kayden, waiting for his reply, anticipating a rebuttal.
After a moment, Kayden shook his head and said, “I don’t know.”
As soon as he spoke, everyone’s expressions lightened considerably.
They thought to themselves, Kayden is indeed just a braggart; his earlier bravado had evaporated. He had merely come to the John family to stir trouble. In the presence of a true big shot, Kayden seemed so utterly powerless.
Daphne looked at Kayden, disappointment creeping into her eyes. She had hoped he would put up more of a fight against Eugene, but she hadn’t expected him to concede so quickly.
Eugene chuckled triumphantly, a look of ease on his face, resembling a master looking down at an ignorant student. Stroking his beard, he said, “These are merely the fundamentals of medicine. You don’t even know the basics, yet you’re out here trying to treat people? I can accept that you have some pride as a junior, but you must know that the traditional virtue of Seclela is to respect one’s elders. You are the junior here, so I won’t hold it against you. Let’s leave it at that for today. Memphis, let him go.”
Eugene’s demeanor earned him the respect of many present, who admired his gracious handling of the situation-truly a respected elder.
“Wait!” Kayden didn’t leave but continued, “Just because I said I don’t know doesn’t mean there’s a problem with what I said. You may have read many books, but your knowledge is insufficient. For example, you’re unaware of my Revitalization Nine Needles and my Ancient Three Acupoints!”
“Seriously?” Eugene squinted again, then laughed, “Of course, I know of these treatment methods, but they’re merely recorded in texts, and no one uses them. They originated over five thousand years ago but were lost over two thousand years ago. Just because you can name them doesn’t mean you can actually apply them. You’ve likely only seen them mentioned in some books. To master those techniques, one must at least be a practitioner of Chi and physical strength, with a cultivation of at least a hundred years and having reached another realm. You’re merely a warrior; can you reach that realm?”
Eugene’s eyes held a hint of disdain. In his view, Kayden could never attain such a level. That was a legendary skill, supposedly possessed only by those who had lived long lives and devoted themselves to their practice.
He had lived over a hundred years and had never seen anyone use such acupuncture techniques.
Kayden remained silent, only revealing a faint smile. Then, with his palm facing downward, a layer of faint energy began to emanate from his hand. He directed his palm toward a nearby small tree, which was about as thick as an adult’s arm. Suddenly, that small tree wilted instantly, all its green leaves withering and falling to the ground.
This scene left Eugene stunned, his eyes wide with disbelief.
Eugene thought, this is unfathomable! He’s so young yet possesses such formidable inner strength. This is comparable to a martial genius from ancient times. Could this young man really be a genius? A prodigy in both medicine and martial arts?
Kayden locked eyes with Eugene and clearly stated, “This is my realm!”
After speaking, Kayden turned to leave.
Eugene trembled, the first to recover, and shouted, “Sir, please wait!”
“Sir!” Eugene’s tone had shifted. He was no longer as arrogant as before.
Kayden did not look back, striding toward the exit.
“Stop him! He can cure Mr. John!” Eugene quickly urged Memphis.
Upon hearing this, Memphis shouted to the butler, “Lucy, stop him!”
Lucy stood on her toes and leaped, floating gracefully in front of Kayden, spreading her arms to block his path. “Sir, please stop!”
Kayden’s patience had worn thin. With such questioning, how could he possibly stay? If he remained, he would lose his pride and dignity-he would no longer be the Defender of the South.
“Get lost!” Kayden shouted, the word hitting Lucy like a cannonball.
Lucy’s face paled, but she stubbornly straightened her back and replied, “Sir, please stop!”
“If you don’t want to die, then get out of the way!” Kayden issued a final warning, his anger burning fiercely.
Lucy realized she was no match for him, especially after witnessing him dispatch over a hundred people and sap the life from that small tree with a mere gesture! Such terrifying inner strength could only be reached by someone at the Hermit level.
However, Lucy was not about to back down. She held her ground, her chest heaving as she declared, “Sir, please stop!”
“Looks like you’re prepared to face my punishment!” With that, Kayden leaped high, bringing his foot down toward Lucy.
Lucy raised her arms to block, but her body couldn’t withstand Kayden’s power. She was sent flying backward, her toes barely grazing the ground as she slid back like a high-speed bicycle coming to an abrupt stop.
Their movements left deep impressions on the ground!
Kayden’s force was overwhelmingly brutal. As Lucy was struck down, she felt as if her organs were being crushed.
Finally, she was slammed against a wall, and with a loud crash, chunks of concrete fell from the wall. Blood sprayed from Lucy’s mouth.
Kayden looked at her impassively and declared, “Anyone who tries to stop me will not live!”
He intended to finish Lucy off, but then a cry came from behind, halting him, “Sir, stop!”
With that shout, countless others echoed in support.
“Dad!”
“Grandpa!”
Kayden slowly turned around, only to see Memphis kneeling on the ground!
