OLIVIA
I’m having a hard time adjusting to the earth. It’s rather unfortunate that my life was fading away like the evening sun and I can’t even do anything about it.
“I’m waiting for your response, Adrian. I don’t enjoy being kept in suspense for too long and that’s precisely what you’re doing to me right now,” Rene fumed. Her voice got louder by the minute.
“Yes, I do know them. Olivia is Cyril’s husband while the lady standing next to her is Kate, Olivia’s assistant,” Adrian briefly explained.
“Are you kidding me?” Rene charged up, ready to unleash her rocket of frustration at Adrian.
“Before you get mad at me, I need to quickly clarify this. I wasn’t aware that Kate nor her Boss were going to visit you today. You have got to believe me,” Adrian responded and vindicated himself immediately before Rene could attack him.
I didn’t know how I was going to react to his confession. I would have preferred he lied instead. He now puts me in a difficult situation where I need to start pleading with Rene to follow me to the hospital.
“And you expect me to believe that?” Rene chuckled in disbelief. I saw this coming, hence my reason to avoid it.
“I don’t want to believe it’s a coincidence for you all to show up at the same time because of Cyril.
I’ve got a feeling this was a planned movement. Do you all think I’m stupid?” Rene continued to rage. She won’t stop speaking to me harshly without considering its consequences.
I withheld my rate, due to what’s at stake. I knew what awaited me before deciding to come visit Rene.
I seized my breath and utterances; the same, I controlled my anger. I had many nasty things to say to Rene that would ruin Cyril’s chances at regaining his memory again.
For Cyril, I was ready to act like a dummy to get what I wanted. While I stayed mute, I banked on Adrian to speak up for me. He’s in the best position to save me from the unending torture.
“Why is no one talking? I am gonna kick you all out if this silence continues,” Rene issued the warning. It wasn’t just a threat, she meant every damn threat issued at us. She was controlling the situation as though we were her kids.
“Rene, please, listen to her. You’re the only hope she got,” Adrian weighed in as my saving Grace.
I’ve waited for that moment as though my life depended on it.
Rene might not have accepted my demand yet, but I was relieved.
I had this positive feeling that she would eventually. I just needed Adrian to speak up, and he did.
“I thought you said you weren’t with them? How come you felt her pain? Are you practically lying to me now? If that’s what you’re trying to do, I will not just kick you out of my home, I will also warn the estate security not to let you in anymore,” Rene flared up again just when I thought my worries were slowly fading away.
It’s quite shocking to discover how smart she was aside from being a slut.
“Cyril’s her husband.
If there’s anyone who needs to be emotional, it’s Olivia,”
Adrian responded immediately as though the response were programmed in his head. He showed no sign of weakness. It would take more than just brilliance for Rene to discover our plans.
“Fine! I’m doing this for humanity. Did you come with your car?” Rene finally accepted.
It’s unclear what was discussed between Rene and Adrian, but I’m certainly certain that Adrian played a vital role in ensuring that Rene accepted my request.
While Rene was inside changing into another outfit, I stayed calm and maintained my distance from Adrian.
I tried all I could to avoid any eye contact with him. I survived a tornado because of Rene; I am not risking it all in the dying minutes because of a few seconds of conversation with him.
Adrian understood the assignment, too. Without having to tell him what to do, he knew what I was trying to avoid and decided to stay mute, too.
We’ve been talking for nearly the entire day. We even had sex, too.
A brief moment apart won’t kill.
“Wow! So it’s true?” Rene stepped outside to what seemed like another dramatic moment.
“What’s true?” I muttered in confusion. I racked my head to confirm what I did wrong. I searched my conscience too, and it was clean like the purest of waters.
In the absence of my offense, I resorted to Adrian and Kate. “What did you all do?”
I trusted them and was confident that they wouldn’t snitch on me. However, I still had my doubts.
If Rene could step out uttering what sounded like an accusation, then I deserved to be worried.
“What the heck are you doing? Kate and I have been here the whole time and nothing happened. Why would you even suspect we did something wrong?” Adrian bemoaned. He was starting to get pissed off when Rene calmed his nerves.
“Adrian was right.
He and Kate did nothing wrong,” Rene cleared the air, hence compiling the mysteries.
“What’s the point?”
I was curious to know what the problem was.
“So here’s it. When I went inside to change into another outfit, I peeped through the window and waited to see if you all would speak to each other,” Rene revealed.
“Unbelievable!
Why did you have to do that?”
I was stunned.
As smart as I was, I wasn’t even thinking In that direction.
“That was the only way I could find out if you’re telling the truth,” She added. Rene kept proving to me how smart she was.
“Brought your car?”
She asked Adrian.
“No, I board a cab,” Adrian rescued me with another lie. The question sounded too tricky for me.
I was glad that Adrian was smart enough to come up with the lie.
“Great!
You drive in mine,”
Rene stated.
“That was a close one,” I muttered succinctly. I ensured that it was suitable for my hearing ability only.
