When they realized it, Jaquan was at the amusement park with his child, wearing glasses and smiling like a snake. “Apologize in the newspaper tomorrow, declare bankruptcy, and stay away from Ylosea.”
The man was terrified-Jaquan was holding his child’s neck, not tightly, but enough to make it clear he was threatening. The child thought they were playing.
“Mr. Scott! If we go public, my whole family is doomed!”
Jaquan replied coldly, “If you think your family being killed is worth it, then by all means.”
The man almost fell to his knees.
From that day on, he stayed far from Ylosea, never involving himself in business again, starting over from scratch and only dreaming of his past success.
This was the gray area.
It was Jaquan’s dark side.
He rarely acted, but when he did, there was no turning back.
Undoubtedly, what Karlie did angered Nelson and infuriated Jaquan.
Jaquan had never brought up past issues because he felt indebted to Karlie and knew she had a pure heart.
But what she did to Callie crossed his line.
Three strikes and you’re out, like drinking tea: the first cup is for taste, the second to quench thirst, the third is excessive.
Karlie drank four cups.
She felt dizzy and uncomfortable, worse than being drunk.
Instead of letting herself pass out, she boldly fell into Jaquan’s arms, clutching his black shirt collar. “Jaquan, Jaquan… Callie is not a good person. Don’t love her, please.”
Jaquan’s smile faded as he brushed her delicate face. “Go on.”
Karlie saw a glimmer of hope and blurted out sharply, “She’s a b*tch!”
“Ah!” A sharper scream came from the lounge, startling those outside.
Awakened by pain, Karlie looked in disbelief at the suddenly furious man.
In the end, Mikayla cleaned up the mess. The lounge was in disarray. Jaquan returned to his lofty demeanor, tossed away the tissue he used to wipe his hands, and said indifferently, “Call the police. Miss Sherman is using drugs.”
Mikayla was shocked and looked at Karlie, who was trembling on the floor, muttering, “No, no, I didn’t. Jaquan! You can’t do this to me!”
Jaquan walked away as if it had nothing to do with him.
Karlie screamed in agony, “Ah-”
Soon, everything was cleaned up.
In Jaquan’s private lounge, he stood in front of a row of red wine bottles, lost in thought. The view of Ylosea stretched out before him.
Mikayla quickly entered. “It’s all cleaned up. Miss Sherman will soon face her punishment.”
Jaquan nodded and wiped his hands with a tissue. “Inform Nelson.”
“Yes.” Mikayla hesitated with a question. “We didn’t have to do this for Nelson. He couldn’t act against Faithview Group and Karlie due to his promise. We didn’t need to help him.”
“He knew I would help,” Jaquan said bitterly. “Whether for Karlie’s sake or my feelings for Callie, I would help. Nelson counted on that.”
