“It has nothing to do with you.”
That same phrase again.
Sometimes Sirena really wanted to ask Ulric what she lacked. In terms of dedication to Ulric and contributions to W Group, how was she not a hundred times better than Rosalind?
He should have been hers…
In the office, Ulric had just sat down when Cedric messaged that everything was arranged.
He opened his computer and glanced at the files, his eyes uncontrollably falling on the Wayer City resort project submitted by a subsidiary.
The project had entered its second phase?
He wondered how her injury was healing.
He wondered if that person had gone to the hospital to take care of her.
Thinking of this, a self-mocking smile appeared on Ulric’s thin lips. He felt extremely humble now; even when he had pursued Rosalind with all his effort, he had never felt like this!
What made him feel even more ashamed was that he also took out his phone and dialed Johnny’s number.
After a few rings, Johnny picked up, “What’s up? Can’t handle things at the company?”
Ulric raised his hand to rub his forehead, the words stuck in his throat, unsure what to say.
On the other end, Johnny’s side suddenly filled with the sound of airport announcements.
“Are you coming back from Wayer City?”
“Yeah, there’s nothing much here. I need to get back and help you!”
Ulric tapped his fingers on the desk in silence until Johnny almost thought he had hung up. Then he spoke in a low voice, “Rosalind, is she healed?”
“Oh, so that’s what you wanted to ask!” Johnny realized, “She’s doing great! Thriving at work, her male boss is chasing after her just like you did, everyone who wants to care for her has to wait in line.”
“Johnny, I’m seriously asking.”
“And I’m seriously answering! Rosalind is healed and back at the construction site. She’s doing great in her career and love life. Not only did she get married, but in the second year after your divorce-”
Johnny abruptly stopped talking.
Because he suddenly remembered what Lion had told him, which made a lot of sense upon reflection.
Seeing how much his good friend Ulric cared about Rosalind, if he knew she not only remarried quickly but also had a daughter with someone else, it would definitely make him feel terrible.
So why tell him that?
“What then?”
“She forgot about you!” Johnny sighed and earnestly advised, “Ulric, you’re so outstanding; women lining up for you could stretch from here to France. Just give up on Rosalind! You heard her yourself; she said she loves her husband deeply. You can’t be a third party in their marriage.”
Ulric remained silent.
It took nearly a minute before he hung up.
Johnny didn’t need to say it; Ulric had already told himself a hundred thousand times. But it needed to work!
Suddenly, the phone ringing broke the silence in the office.
Ulric instinctively looked at his phone and realized it wasn’t ringing; it was another one.
He opened the screen and saw an unread message.
[Rosalind: Hello, I am the owner of the car from the Wayer City accident. My car has been repaired now. I’ll return the remaining money to you. Here is a photo of the repair invoice.]
Attached was a photo of her holding the invoice.
This should be her number because when Ulric enlarged the photo, he could see the wound on Rosalind’s finger.
