Grace was still in her office pondering what had happened earlier; she was lost in her own thoughts. Most times, she feels as though getting married to Alpha Nelson was the worst mistake of her life.
She was really suffocating in the hell she calls a marriage and the devil she calls a husband.
She was really in a damn mess, and sometimes she felt weighed down.
The ringing tone of the telephone made her yank out of her thoughts, and just then she squirreled as though she was looking for something before realizing she had been lost in thought for a while now.
Rubbing off her eye, she let out a very frustrated breath, and before she could pick up the telephone that had made her come out of her reverie, her hands were still in the air when the call ended.
Not even in the mood for calls or any other company-related stuff, she didn’t bother about it.
After letting out a ragged breath, just as she turned on her phone, she noticed it was time for the gathering already.
“Damn! She said and spat her hand on the table. The lady that had called her earlier in the morning said the time was 10:00 am, but it was already going to be 10:30 AM.
Even as reluctant she was, due to the fact that it was her first time, it was the first time they were going to be officially introducing her as the company’s second CEO, which is really why she had to be punctual.
As they say, first impressions matter, and indeed that was true. She just had to; even her heart doesn’t want to.
Pheew, she sprang up to her feet, adjusted her disheveled clothes and her tie, and then her hair.
The office had a mirror, so she checked herself on it, and she was sure she looked perfectly okay. She started heading out of the office with some files just to make sure she was holding something at hand.
She walked out of the office and headed to the elevator so she could go down to the floor where the gathering was to be held, as the lady had said earlier.
“The fact that I am going to see that devil in the gathering makes my stomach churn in disgust, and I am really so annoyed.” Grace said in her head, still walking gracefully to the elevator.
The elevator whisked her to the floor she had input, and just when she got there, she saw the tag on one door in the area she had entered and was quick to know it was where the gathering would be holding, and that was what the lady had told her earlier.
She had no idea who she would be seeing inside the hall; she least expected to see any of her villains in there.
She was already at the door, and when she put her face on, the door was quick to open after a few seconds. At first, she was a little bit shy, so her head was bent to the ground as though, if she dared to look up, she would be in danger.
The air conditioner in the big hall hit her nose as she entered. She heard some calm noises; her head was bent low, but she could feel the people’s eyes all over her body, and if it were to be a knife, then she would be bleeding so badly right there.
“Now, let’s welcome our dear second-in-command CEO of the Divine’s company, a beauty to behold, a woman with elegance and grace, a beautiful and intelligent woman, and the legal wife of Alpha Nelson Divine. All round of applause for her as she walks in.
A round of applause filled the air; the people in there kept clapping and hailing; they said different things, but she really couldn’t take in any, but she was sure they were showing praise for her.
“Damn!” Grace breathed an itch, and she was really going to miss her step; her heart was pounding fast and her steps were starting to be shaking. She really didn’t expect this, not for any reason.
She wishes the ground could just open and swallow her, but that was nothing but wishes; she had to show the elegance the person who had welcomed her had just said.
The clap refused to die off as she walked in, and this elevated her spirit, and she didn’t want to fall hands, so she decided to raise her head and look up to the crowd.
Just then someone walked up to her and held her hands. The strong cologne of the person hit her nose, and she was quick to know it was none other than Alpha Nelson. His cologne was now very familiar to her.
She arched her eyebrows, and her guess was true; she fell irritated and disgusted by his action, like what gave him the audacity to come hold her after how he had talked to her earlier, and she knew it was a show-off marriage___ eye service instead of the real definition of marriage.
Before you know it, her eyes met the crowd; this was when she realized it was not just the company’s staff that was present; other high-ranking men and women in the society were also present.
She waved her hands to the crowd as Alpha Nelson carried her to the stage where they were supposed to sit; that was really how this gathering was done.
The chandelier in the hall was really glowing and sparkling, giving it a perfect and good look.
The decorations in the room make it more outstanding and brighten the look to a more special and unique one.
She had no idea how long they had planned to make this day so bright as the hall; it was as though they were about celebrating a merriment rather than just an introduction.
Just as they were already on stage, the clap started to die off gradually, and when it was fully down, the man in charge of the microphone continued.
“Thank you all for such a perfect welcome. We can all have our seats. You all are welcome to this special occasion.” The man said.
“Special?” Grace couldn’t help but repeat itt inside her head; she had no idea that this was how it was going to look.
What is special about the occasion was something she had no idea about.
She was sitting very close to Alpha Nelson in the seat that was provided for them. Alpha Nelson hadn’t told her things would go like this.
Even if he had wanted to tell her, how was he going to? They had been more of enemies than couples in recent years.
Everything was more off, like a surprise to her. Though she was a little bit shocked by how they had welcomed her earlier, she was supposed to be hated, wasn’t she?
“Or where they are just showing their good side at first, then when I start working, then I will be working with enemies.” Grace couldn’t help but think.”
“And now we would allow Mrs. Nelson to introduce herself to the crowd. I mean a grand introduction.” The man said he was the one in charge of the occasion.
This was when they were done with the opening prayer aspect.
“Wow! Wow! Wow!” Grace kept saying this mantra. She was really having issues with looking up to the crowd, and she had also not prepared a speech.
“Please, Mrs. Nelson,” the man said, climbing the stage and wanting to give the microphone to Grace.
Alpha Nelson had wanted to let her know that all this would take place, but Grace was really not going to hear him out; instead, it was one issue or the other, and he had no option but to let her be.
“She is really going to see how everything would turn out today, smiling now and crying later.” A lady was saying this to her friend; for the fact that Grace was warmly welcomed, not everyone was happy with that.
“This bitch really has a way of getting favor in things, but today would be a happy day and a sad day for her, being the second in command CEO, right?” This was another lady saying it inside of her.
She was damn and freaking jealous of Grace, and that was it.
Grace had no idea what was awaiting her, though. With this lady saying this, you all would be shocked at who they really are.
With reluctance, she took the microphone, and just when she stood up and scanned the crowd, her eyes met a group of people she didn’t want to see at that moment, and just then the microphone dropped down from her hands, but her eyes still focused on them.
The crowd was left stunned as the hall broke into laughter. They were maybe not expecting that from her; she was really acting a little bit weirdly.
