Rosiley shrugged. “That’s why it must be Rorey who did it. You’ve got the wrong person.”
After saying that, Rosiley stood up. After being so frank, there was nothing left for them to talk about.
She turned and was about to go when Ariella Ning called to her. “Rosiley.”
She stopped and turned back her head. She found her to have stood up too, her eyes glacially cold, her ruby lips slightly parted. “Would you like to work with me?”
Rosiley raised her eyebrows in surprise. “Work with you?”
…
“So did you agree?” Yayoi asked hurriedly.
“I did not.” Rosiley shook her head. “I’m not so bored that I need to invite trouble for myself.”
“You did right.” Ying Xiaoxiao took a light sip of wine and went on. “After this, Ariella Ning and Rorey will go for each other’s throats. Let them bite each other. We will just watch.”
“Right.” Yayoi nodded in agreement.
Ying Xiaoxiao and Rosiley exchanged glances, smiling at each other. Ying Xiaoxiao finished the wine in her glass, turned to look at the tightly shut door and frowned, muttering, “What’s taking him so long?”
Yayoi heard her, and her interest was piqued. “Are you waiting for Corey?”
Ying Xiaoxiao turned back and saw Yayoi and Rosiley looking at her, their eyes full of interest. She lifted her eyebrows and admitted frankly, “Yes, I’m waiting for him.”
“Dammit, you mean you’re really waiting for him?” Yayoi was obviously shocked by her frankness.
“You asked Corey here?” Rosiley asked.
“Yes. I thought it would be very boring with just the three of us, so I asked him to come after work.”
Rosiley raised her eyebrows and gave her a meaningful glance, then she took a light sip of wine and said no more.
An hour went by, and Morphy came to take Yayoi home.
Two hours passed, and Sachin came.
Three hours later, Rosiley had departed with Sachin, leaving Ying Xiaoxiao alone in the private room.
Before leaving, Rosiley asked her to go with them, but had been refused. She knew that Ying Xiaoxiao was still waiting for Corey. Rosiley sighed gently and did not make her go. She went off first.
After Rosiley and the others had left, Ying Xiaoxiao called Corey directly.
The cell phone rang for a long time, but no one picked up the call.
She called again, and still no one answered.
She called him a few times, and still his cell phone remained unanswered.
In the end, she left the clubhouse in a hurry, driving straight to Corey’s house.
…
However, there was no one in Corey’s house either.
She rang the doorbell for ages, yet no one came to the door.
His cell phone remained unanswered and there was no one in the house. It all felt strange and unusual.
Ying Xiaoxiao suddenly became flustered. She thought that something must have happened. Perhaps he had had an accident on the way to the clubhouse.
She hastily called Rosiley to report the situation. Rosiley sounded very calm at the other end. “Xiaoxiao, don’t frighten yourself. If something had really happened to Corey, you would have heard about it after such a long time.”
“But…” Ying Xiaoxiao wanted to say more when she heard the sound of an elevator arriving.
What followed was a familiar voice.
“How are you feeling?”
“Um, I’m okay. It’s just that I feel weak.”
There were the voices of a man and a woman. Ying Xiaoxiao slowly put down the hand she was using to hold the cell phone and turned around. She stared with incredulous eyes at the couple walking towards her.
