“How are you gonna survive all on your own out there?” Larcade questioned out of the blue and wrapped his arms around his firm chest after arranging his backpack, too.
“I will figure it out.” Wendy murmured and kept walking.
“Sihwa Grimwolf took my sister.” Larcade dropped the bombshell. Wendy stopped and looked back at Larcade in horror. “You heard me.” His expression turned serious. “I want to know where my sister is. He is the one behind her disappearance. I’ve been wanting to leave Twilight Springs for years. But my mom wouldn’t let me. Sihwa’s name and his appearance terrify her, and she doesn’t want to lose me too. It might sound cruel, but she is weak and if she goes against Sihwa, we will both lose our lives. As soon as you said you were leaving Twilight Springs. I figured to use that as an opportunity to come with you. It became a reason for me to follow you. Guard and take on Sihwa for you, too. Then, I would not feel forced to make drastic decisions. I’m not going back to Twilight Springs without my sister.” He shot Wendy an angry look.
His words stood firm. I have never seen Larcade like this before. Didn’t know he had a sister. I’ve known him since I was 12 years old and he has never mentioned to me he had a sister.
I guess people have each of their issues to deal with and not everyone knows how to handle them or knows about their problems.
And he knows who Sihwa is?
“I’m coming with you, Wendy, including Courtney.”
“What! Why do I have to-”
“You worry about Wendy too. Of course, she can’t just leave you behind. It’s not fair.” He cut in. “And Chelsea too. You need her. She has more knowledge of werewolves than most of the werewolves out there. You need help from the three of us and in return, we all get what we want. I believe that should be enough reason to understand us.”
When Wendy turned to us, her huge tears on her red face stunned us. Was she crying the whole time?
“I really love all of you.” Her stained voice nearly blocked her voice. “I’ve not had peace since I escaped from my clan. I keep having dreams and get tormented by something I had no clue about. Not a day passes by that I forget about them. I don’t sleep well because of them. Whenever I go, I hear their voices in my head.” She slapped her hair, used her fingers to scatter them. She gave out a loud cry and fell to the sand on her knees.
Larcade almost ran to her, but Chelsea held him back.
“I didn’t mean to hide anything from you guys. I was afraid of chasing you away. I could only turn to Chelsea because she has the knowledge of mates. That’s why I talked to her about it. I didn’t want to get you into my mess. I’m sorry, if you ever felt, in a certain bad way. Just know it wasn’t my intention.” She inhaled and more of her tears kept dripping onto the sand as her hair covered her face.
“I’m sorry. I’m a cursed Omega. Guess you’ve known that by now. I can’t be free unless I face my mates and the jerk who killed my family and my first love.”
Her first love?
I asked. “The jerk who took out your family, was it Sihwa?”
She nodded. “Yes, he is the one. I need to face him.” She shook her head. “Can’t let this go on. I can’t keep running forever. I need to stand on my own two feet and face my fears. Fated to be with multiple alphas-”
“Why don’t you reject all of them?” Chelsea and I turned to him. “Since they are tormenting you so much, wouldn’t it be best if you do? They wouldn’t be in your life anymore after rejection.”
Silence emerged for a couple of minutes.
“The reason I haven’t been able to, is because I could die if I reject them. They are too much for me and I can’t deal with it. We are talking about 16 of them. But some of them died, though. Sihwa killed them. Since I can’t reject them because of the pain and death I will have to face, it is better to look the other way.”
I didn’t think they were this much. 16 of them? Isn’t that ridiculous?
“You planned on killing them?” Larcade let out.
“Yes.” Wendy clenched the sand under her fist and stood up on her feet.
My jaw dropped when her vengeful eyes turned red.
“It is the only way. If I don’t kill them, I will go down first and I’m not letting that happen.” She clenched her jaw and bit her lower lip, fighting back her tears from spilling once more. “They took everything away from me. If he wants me to come to him by using a prank call on me, then so be it. I don’t care if I die after they do. Let’s end this once and for all.” Wendy’s tears dripped, she covered her face with both hands and broke down in tears.
I didn’t know how to feel about all of this. Yet my heart torn apart.
Chelsea strolled past me, squatted before her, and hugged her. Wendy cried for so long, her face got red. Larcade and I didn’t move an inch. The emotions and the pain she has suppressed for years, she let it all out that day.
The chilly breeze blew past our clothes, and our thoughts clouded our disturbed minds.
Life is such a sad thing, isn’t it? The only thing going through our heads is, what has life stored in our paths?
We got into the ship and Larcade took charge of the ship and let it sail. I stared at the blue sparkling sea and how beautiful the moon shone upon us.
Chelsea and Wendy were both sleeping and I couldn’t sleep a wink. I guess I’m scared and nervous about what’s coming before us. I haven’t been out of Twilight Springs before. So, it is sort of freaking me out to be outside the world; I have always wanted to see. I guess time flies so fast, you would wonder if you are drifting into the right path or not.
I felt a short, fluffy black blanket over me. I turned, and it was Larcade.
I didn’t know he was awake.
“Couldn’t sleep?”
I turned to the sea. “Yeah, I’m nervous.”
“We all are,” Larcade replied and rested his hands on the edge of the ship. His hair waves past his eyes. Gray long sleeve turtleneck looks dazzling on him and his stature. His blue pants fit him and his pheromones sort of turned me on. My wolf snuggled inside me.
Why did he have to smell so good tonight?
“Yep.” I folded my lips and bit my lower lip. “I wonder what’s gonna happen out there.”
“Aren’t you supposed to be the happiest person here? This has always been your dream.”
