Elara;
My eyes fixed on him as my lips parted to speak, “Alpha Arthur, Nova…..”
His phone suddenly rings, cutting me off. Oh, thank Goddess. I was about to lie to Alpha Arthur about Nova, but was scared of him finding out my lies. This call came just at the right time.
Alpha Arthur takes out his phone from his pocket. I notice the instant frown on his face as he fixes his eyes on his screen. “It’s Alpha Blade. Why is the fool calling me?” he snorts.
“Huh!? Alpha Blade? What does he want? Does he know you are with me? Did he find out Kalus sold me off to you?”
“Alpha Blade knows the truth. He was the one who took us to a witch to save your life after you were stoned and almost killed.”
“What!!!???” My jaw drops. “A witch!? What witch!? When did you all start practicing black magic? I thought it was against the laws of the pack. Do witches even exist? I mean, do…”
“Easy with your questions, Elara. There is a lot you don’t know about, and you will get to find out soon. Alpha Blade is also aware that Nova possesses your body. He has been present all through the process.”
“Eh!?”
“Mhm!”
“This doesn’t sound sweet at all. I don’t like this. So what does he want now?”
“I need to pick up to find out what he wants. Excuse me,” and with that, Alpha Arthur ambles away from me. Speaking of Alpha Blade, what’s going on with him?
How did Nova get to deal with him when she found out he was my husband and fated mate? I think it was a handful for her. I need to speak with her. There are some vital things I need to find out before I return to the pack.
Cos if Alpha Blade is aware of everything, then how was it possible for Alpha Arthur and Nova to get to this pack together?
My feet move away from the kitchen and I make my way in the direction of the room in search of Nova. I already knew where to find her; in the room assigned to Alpha Arthur.
Knocking on the door and waiting for her response, I lightly exhale. This is my first time seeking her, I don’t know how she will react to it. And for some unknown reasons, I feel anxious within.
Nova opens the door, and her forehead creases in surprise. Just the reaction I’m expecting.
“Elara?… What’s going on? Why are you here?”
Shoulders shrug, “Nothing Nova. Just came to see you and ask some curious questions,” I whiff in my smile.
“Alright, you can come in,” she pushes the door wide open for me to enter.
Stepping in, the whiff of Alpha Arthur’s scent welcomes my nose. His presence can never go unnoticed. That’s the one thing with Alpha wolves. Their scent is very powerful and even when they leave the spot, someone will still tell they were present some hours back.
“Did you get the mysterious nightmare again?” Was the first statement that sprints out of Nova’s lips.
“Yes, I did, and this time it was more craz…”
“Did those men kill her?”
“Kill who?” My head bends, my eyes stare
at her. Confused.
“Malicia. I also saw her in my dream. She was being held down by two men, and you tried to go save her but your feet couldn’t move. My eyes shut right at that minute and I was unable to see everything to the end,” Nova belts her arms around her chest. “So, did they take her life?”
It’s not strange to me that Nova had the same dream as me. But if Nova’s eyes were shut before Malicia was killed then she had no idea of the fact her car exploded. Can’t even tell her about it.
Nodding my head, “She was beheaded. But that was a dream and I don’t want to worry about it,” I lied. The thought of Malicia has been in my mind since I woke up. And the unrest within is worse than before. I keep having the feeling that something truly has happened to my friend, but I need to force myself into staying positive.
It was just a dream. Nothing will happen to Malicia. Those were the words I kept repeating.
“So what are the curious questions you came to ask?” Nova calls back my attention.
“Nothing serious. Just wanted to know how you were able to put up with Alpha Blade. How shocked were you when you found out I was….?” My words halt in my throat.
“That you were fated and married to Alpha Blade but have the mark of Alpha Arthur who is your sister’s husband?” She throws my deserters right at me.
“Mmm! Yahh!” I giggle.
“Crazy. I almost couldn’t believe it. Do you know what the worst of them was?”
“No. Tell me.”
“Alpha Blade and Alpha Arthur look way too handsome and powerful to be contesting over you. At first, I felt they were stupid.”
Clicking my tongue and side gazing at her, “Don’t I worth it?”
“Getting to know your personality now, yes, you do. You are the best, Elara,” her compliment made my cheeks drag to the side with a smile. “It wasn’t easy dealing with both men, Elara. Especially Alpha Blade, who always wanted your pussy cos of the connection of the mate bond. But I can’t deny the fact that I envy you, and wish I’m the lucky lady. But I don’t even have one good man let alone two.”
“Don’t worry Nova. You will get a better man soon.”
“Only if I’m alive to experience one.”
“The Goddess always has her way, Nova. She might decide to grant you life.”
“I hope it happens, Elara. I can’t lie about the fact I’m scared, but what will be will be,” she responds to me.
We stand, all mute, looking at ourselves. The truth is right at our faces and it’s hurting us. Nova’s death felt real in my first dream and that was the same way Malicia’s death felt in my second. I indeed hope all is well back home.
“My best friend visited. The evil one who slept with my fiance, David. She didn’t recognize me as Nova. I believe she came to you. What did she say to you?” Nova breaks the silence.
“I didn’t get to speak with her. Marion was the one who told me about her, and Marion informed me about how your best friend saved my life.”
“You mean Josephine saved your life? That must be the biggest joke of the day,” Nova whiffs in disbelief.
I understand her reaction. That will be mine as well if someone tells me Chloe saved my life. The devil doesn’t change. Probably, Josephine has her reasons.
“Less I forgot Nova, I met with a lady I saw in my dream. the evil lady who took yo….”
The door suddenly opens, disrupting me as Alpha Arthur walks in. He had this pale sadness written on his face. Come off something is wrong. I bet it’s one of his random issues with Alpha Blade.
These two will never cease to be mutual enemies.
“Elara,” Alpha Arthur snatches my hand. “I want to speak with you. Please,” his voice sounds like someone who is struggling to breathe.
“Alright,” my mind suddenly starts to dart around. What might be the problem? Why does Alpha Arthur want to speak with me behind Nova? I hate to worry about things but at this point, I’m finding it hard to control the emotion.
My body already feels weak as I follow behind Alpha Arthur. Felt like my nostrils were struggling to get air. My heart is already racing in panic, and I can’t tell why. What the hell is wrong with me?
Alpha Arthur leads me outside the mansion to the garden. Somewhere even more private, and this place is doing a good job of triggering my anxiety.
“Can you just speak to me already? What is it? Did something happen to Alpha Blade?” My feet stop dead in their tracks.
Alpha Arthur’s fingers dig through his hair in confusion as he turns to look at me. “Elara,” he breathes my name.
“What, Alpha Arthur? Please just say what it is. This suspense is killing me,” I swallow softly. Dear Goddess, I hope Alpha Blade has not made a crazy demand. Or seek something from me?
“It’s Malicia,” Alpha Arthur blurts out. His eyes lower, avoiding my gaze.
My heart suddenly drops in fear as the racing of my heart increases. My body slightly trembles. I know something is wrong. My feelings are true. Something has happened to my girl.
No, it can’t be true, Elara. Nothing happened. Calm down, Elara, and hear him speak. Maybe it’s something good. Just maybe.
I swallow hard, my tears making my sight blurry, “W-what…. ab-bout Malicia?” Forcing my throat to speak.
