Elara;
I need to speak with him. It’s time for us to return. If Malicia is in danger, he’s the only one who can save her. I don’t know what is going on with Malicia but every part of me isn’t settled. My body is trembling, and my heart is hurting.
Dear Goddess, I hope my baby girl is still alive and ok.
I make my way into the living room in search of Alpha Arthur. The thought of Malicia being in danger filled my mind. The dream I had was a very terrible and painful one, and I can’t deny the fact I’m scared to my bones. I lost Malicia and Nova in that dream. Don’t even know what the dream meant. But I have to do something about it.
I need to return and be sure Malicia is alright.
Getting into the living room, I see Alpha Arthur and the others just as Marion had earlier informed me. I immediately make my way toward Alpha Arthur to speak with him.
“Nova, you are awake,” Alpha Maxwell calls my attention, standing up and moving toward me. Kingsley also stands up. I see the concern in their eyes as their gaze scrutinizes me. “How is your head? Is it still hurting?” Alpha Maxwell asks.
“I’m fine Al….” I swallow softly. “I’m fine, Father. My injury is healing. All thanks to my wolf,” I lied to him. My eyes are solely fixed on Alpha Arthur.
“You don’t look alright, Nova. You look very pale. Come have a seat,” Kingsley holds me, helping me sit on a couch. “What do you want to have for lunch?”
“I don’t have all the time in the world,” I respond to him, my gaze not leaving Alpha Arthur.
“Huh?” Kingsley question.
His questions make me take my eyes off Alpha Arthur and I direct them to Kingsley. Clearing my voice as I notice the confusion written on his face, “I mean, I’m very hungry and I don’t have all the time in the world to wait for a meal to be prepared.”
His eyes travel through my body, taking a better look at me. “Are you alright, Nova? You sound and act very different from yourself. And I can’t fill the presence of your wolf right now. Is there something we need to know about?”
Kingsley sounds so nosey and I hate it. Why can’t he just focus on being the Alpha’s son, and leave whatever is going on with me? Is this how brothers act toward their sisters? Overly concerned about little shits.
Never had a brother so I wouldn’t know.
“I’m great Kingsley. My wolf and I have been through so much and she is resting in a safe place,” I reply, but only if that makes sense to him.
“Great. So I have no reason to be this worried. Was worried for nothing.”
Yeah, it actually made sense.
“Let me get something for you to eat,” Kingsley stands up, stretching his hand at me. “Let’s go, Nova. I will make your favorite meal just like old times,” his palm still spread before me.
“Hmm!?” My nose scrunches.
He cocks his brow in the direction of the kitchen. Clearing his throat, “Let’s go.”
Hell no! This young man is a distraction but I can’t say no to him. Everyone will truly feel something is wrong. I wish I could scream at him to fucking stay off me. But I can’t. I need to go with him and play along. After all, he’s Nova’s brother, which automatically makes him my brother.
I place my hand in Kingsley’s palm and he pulls me to my feet. My eyes dart toward Alpha Arthur. Why isn’t he staring at me even if it’s just for a bit? He looks like a man drowning in his thoughts and he’s dead to his surroundings.
Alpha Arthur is definitely thinking about something. Something I feel is important because he hasn’t blinked an eye since I joined them in the living room. What is he thinking of?
Why do I even care?
Kingsley takes me into the kitchen and I stand side by side with him as he reaches out for some vegetables. “You know what your favorite meal is and how you like it whenever I prepare it for you, I just want to give you the treat again. It’s been a while.”
“What’s my favorite meal?”
“Huh?” He turns around, gazing at me in confusion. “You forgot your favorite food as well.”
Scratching the back of my hair as I swallow hard. “I’ve gone through a lot, Brother. Won’t be a bad idea if you remind me,” I softly bite my lips.
He lets out a little sigh of frustration. “You love bruschetta a lot; toasted bread with tomatoes and basil.”
“No, I don’t….. Oh, yes, I do.” But please, don’t prepare it for me to eat. That’s one of my worst meals ever. I spoke the last words to myself.
Shaking his head in confusion, “I know you are truly strange. Different from the sister I know, and I’m trying to understand you. But what doesn’t sit right is the fact Alpha Arthur’s mate acts just like you, while you, on the other hand, act like a different being. What’s going on, Nova? Who are you?”
Pressing my lips in a thin line and tucking my hair behind my ears, “I…. no….” Fuck Goddess! Why am I stuttering in front of him?
“When did you result in interrogating your sister also?” Alpha Arthur’s voice comes in just at the right time. Oh, gosh…. What a lifesaver. I let out a breath of relief, my head moving in his direction to look at him.
Alpha Arthur strolls toward us. His hands wrap around his chest. His eyes are fixed on Kingsley, “What are you so curious about? You spent almost an hour asking me tons of questions, and my mate told me you also did the same with her. And now, you’re doing same with your sister,” he whiffs in amusement.
“Why are you here, Alpha Arthur? I thought men like you hate being in the kitchen,” Kingsley continues with what he’s doing.
“I heard you want to make her favorite meal. I also want to have a taste of the bruschetta,” Alpha Arthur leans on the table.
“Were you listening to our conversation with your ability?” Kingsley pauses, giving Alpha Arthur an unbelievable stare.
“Yaaas,” Alpha Arthur gives a straight response, and I can’t help but giggle to myself. He’s a handful. Most times I get to like him when he sounds so sweet and hot. He’s the best.
Elara!!…. Get a hold of yourself. Don’t forget what this man did to you. Even if he sounds sweet, he has a demon hiding behind his handsome looks. Fucking come back to your senses. I lash at myself.
Kingsley shakes his head in disbelief before going ahead with preparing the food. Alpha Arthur and I, stand in separate positions, watching Kingsley do his thing. Through the process of cooking, none of us speaks a word. We are focused on different things. That I’m sure of.
My focus was about the fact I needed to speak to Alpha Arthur. The thoughts of Malicia consume my mind once again and this time, the unsettlement within me becomes so intense.
It felt like a force was pulling me, calling me to go help Malicia. The force gave me a feeling that she was in danger and something crazy would happen to her. I’m dying to call the attention of Alpha Arthur, but this isn’t the right place.
Should I mind-link him? Oh.. No, I can’t. Nova’s wolf has been mute for quite a while and I can’t even tell if she is still alive cos I’m not feeling her presence.
I just have to wait. That is my only option.
Finally, Kingsley wraps up the meal and hands a plate of it to me, and also one plate to Alpha Arthur. It took everything within me not to drag my face into a frown as I gazed at the food right before my eyes.
How do I eat this?
Hmmmmmn!
“This is nice, Kingsley,” Alpha Arthur utters, digging into his plate of food like someone who hasn’t had something to eat for ages.
“Thanks, Alpha Arthur. But it seems Nova doesn’t like it,” Kingsley tries to pull my plate away from me but I hold it back.
Scooping a portion of food and taking a bite, I almost puke. Never been a fan of tomatoes, but I need to force myself to eat this. I chew the food in my mouth, my stares fixed on Kingsley’s face, “It’s nice,” I lied to myself.
“I’m glad you like it even though your face says something else.”
Awkward laughter…. Still forcing my throat to push down the food.
“Alpha Kingsley,” a servant calls out as she walks in and ducks her head. “Alpha Maxwell requests your presence,” she informs and I roll my eyes in relief. Finally!
“Ok,” Kingsley carries his plate of bruschetta and follows the maid out of the kitchen.
Immediately, I drop the food in my hand and walk toward Alpha Arthur. “I need to speak with you,” my feet stop right in front of him.
“I know you do, and that’s why I came all the way here. I also need to speak with you,” he fixes his hands in his pockets. “But you can go first.”
“I think Malicia is in danger and we need to return to the Pack as soon as possible.”
“Yeah…. I also feel a lot of wrong things are happening in the pack and Loki is not giving me accurate feedback. But I don’t want to doubt him. I want us to return asap, but you know you can’t return with this body. Anything that has to be done about Nova and you, needs to be done fast so we can return.”
“Hmmn…. That’s true, Alpha Arthur,” I agree with his words. However, I don’t know how and when this is gonna happen; the switching of souls. It’s tiring. “So what’s it you want to speak with me about?”
“It’s about Nova,” Alpha Arthur drew closer to me, his eyes running back and forth through my face. “What happened to her in your dream, Elara? I was in the room to check up on you and I heard you scream out to her. You said some faint words that I didn’t get to hear, and those words were accompanied by your tears. You looked terrified in your sleep. What did you see, Elara? Did something happen to Nova?” Alpha Arthur holds my arms.
I stand frozen, looking at him in confusion. Confused about whether to speak to him about Nova’s death. How will he handle it? Should I open up to him? Will Nova be all right with it? What should I say to Alpha Arthur?
My eyes fixed on him as my lips parted to speak, “Alpha Arthur, Nova…..”
