Chapter 1131

Book:Surprised With Her Real Identities Published:2024-11-9

Sylvia looked at the desolate winter sunlight in the yard, her eyes cold. “Alright. Call me if you need anything.”
“Yes.”
Sylvia picked up her medical kit and left the farmhouse, started her car, and headed towards the city.
After returning home, she locked herself in her room.
The books and documents Jaden brought back were packed in a box. She opened the box to find a new book to read and saw a small jar at the bottom.
The jar looked exquisite and felt heavy in her hand. She frowned, “What is this?”
Why did Jaden bring back a small jar?
Curious, she tried to open it but couldn’t after several attempts.
The jar had a lid that wouldn’t twist off or pry open.
She put down the wrench in her hand and decided to ask Franklin for help.
Half an hour later, she arrived at the Presidential Palace.
As soon as she got out of the car, she ran into Lucille, who was dressed in a professional suit, looking elegant and noble.
Lucille slowly stepped out of a black business car, took off her sunglasses, and sized up Sylvia. “This Presidential Palace is becoming more like your backyard.”
Sylvia’s eyes flashed with sarcasm. “Secretary of State Lucille, you’re exaggerating.”
“Since I ran into you here, Miss Andrews, my daughter’s birthday party is next week. Would you honor us with your presence?” Lucille signaled to her assistant, who immediately stepped forward with an invitation card for Sylvia.
Sylvia glanced at the red invitation card. “I have no connection with Miss Sabrina. I think-seeing me might ruin her entire birthday.”
Lucille laughed softly, her smile gentle but her aura invincible. “Miss Andrews, you’re quite the joker. You and Sabrina are the same age; she would be delighted to see you. Looking forward to your arrival.”
Sylvia frowned. If she didn’t accept the invitation now, it would seem petty.
It’s just an invitation, not a bomb.
“I believe your uncle will attend too.” Lucille’s red lips curved as she looked at her. “After all, I’ve always thought the Hogan family and the Hipps family had a good relationship.”
Such disgusting words, Sylvia wondered how Lucille could say them.
Everyone knew the Hipps family and the Hogan family weren’t that close.
In contrast, the Kaur family maintained good relations with everyone.
Lucille glanced at Sylvia’s cashmere coat. Sylvia looked beautiful and could wear anything with her own style.
The coat made her skin look as white as snow and her demeanor noble.
“Nice taste, better than my Sabrina.”
She kept mentioning Sabrina, and Sylvia silently watched her.
Thinking about what happened between her and Sabrina in the hospital.
Lucille started walking towards the building with her long legs, asking as she walked, “Why haven’t you been to work at the hospital lately?”
Her tone sounded like a familiar elder concerned about a junior’s life and work.
Sylvia’s voice was cold. “Busy, no time.”
She went to work mainly for Jenna. Now that Jenna was discharged, going to the hospital was just for fun.
She would only go if there was an urgent matter; otherwise, she wouldn’t.
After all, she didn’t take a salary from the hospital. She was just helping her teacher.
“Can you be busier than me?” Lucille’s voice remained gentle as if she were a kind elder.
When they reached the office building, she turned to look at Sylvia. “I’ll go up first. Miss Andrews, do you need me to call Mr. Maskelyne down for you?”
“No need.” Sylvia remained very cold.
Lucille said nothing more and turned to enter the office hall.
As she turned around, her gentle face instantly became frosty.
Her cold gaze swept across the hall and finally landed on the elevator door. As it slowly opened, Franklin’s tall and slender figure appeared in view. Lucille glanced at him. “Mr. Maskelyne, don’t blame your aunt for reminding you that it’s best not to have family members frequently appear at work. It avoids gossip.”
“Secretary of State Lucille.” Franklin merely nodded at her and brushed past without any reaction.
Lucille’s face grew even darker.
Seeing them together was annoying; she really wanted to…
Franklin quickly walked over to Sylvia and pulled her into a secluded corner.
“What’s wrong? Sylvia?”
Sylvia looked around and saw no one else before taking out the small jar from her bag. “Can you find a way to open this jar? I’ve tried everything but can’t open it.”
“This jar is uniquely designed; it doesn’t look cheap. So heavy?” Franklin weighed it in his hand. “Where did you get it?”
“Jaden brought it back. I don’t know what’s inside.” Sylvia whispered. “I’m afraid of breaking it and damaging what’s inside.”
“Alright, I’ll figure something out.” Franklin put the jar away.
Sylvia nodded. “I’ll head back now.”
Just as she was about to leave, Franklin grabbed her arm and kissed her forehead before letting go. “Alright, go ahead.”
Sylvia glared at him. “Do you still want me to make scallion pancakes tonight?”
“Yes.” Franklin gave her a charming smile. “My wife wouldn’t let me go hungry.”
Sylvia pushed him away. “Hurry up and leave; don’t let me see you again.”
Franklin turned and left.
Sylvia also left the Presidential Palace.
“The Little Lights Foundation” was located on the fifteenth floor of an office building in the west district.
The west district had many elementary schools, middle schools, kindergartens, and even universities.
So Sylvia chose to locate the foundation here, where there were many minors to achieve the best results.
She went straight to the foundation, where Johnathon was also present.
It was Johnathon’s first time seeing Sylvia; he was struck by her elegant and cool demeanor.
Such a beautiful woman.
Was this Danny’s legendary boss?
Noticing Johnathon’s gaze, Sylvia looked at him. A refined young man with delicate features and rimless glasses on his nose.
He resembled Danny but appeared more delicate.
“Johnathon?” Sylvia spoke softly.
“Hello.” Johnathon stood up from his desk nervously. “Sylvia…”
“No need to be so formal. How do you find working here?” Sylvia gestured for him to sit down.
“It’s fine; the work is quite simple.” Johnathon blushed slightly. He hadn’t interacted much with girls at school, and talking to such a beautiful boss made his heart race.
“Draft a proposal for promoting our foundation.” Sylvia tapped his desk. “Make it substantial, not empty; let me see your level.”
Johnathon looked at Sylvia’s pale fingers tapping on his desk, his face turning even redder. “Uh, okay.”
After making a round in the foundation, Sylvia found Jenna as well.
Sylvia took Jenna’s hand and sat in the lounge area. “Don’t overwork yourself. Your body can’t handle it. Just pass the time here; don’t worry too much about it. Understand?”
Jenna’s eyes sparkled with enthusiasm. “Sis, this job is very meaningful. I get along well with my colleagues too. You don’t need to worry too much.”
“The most important thing is your health.” Sylvia looked around at the newly renovated environment. “This place hasn’t been renovated for long; your body can’t stay here too long. Go home later, okay?”
“Got it.” Jenna nodded obediently.
Sylvia still had some work to do. “I’ll go back to my office first.”
Establishing a foundation was no small matter; proper promotion was one aspect, but doing real work was another.
She had contacted many families who had lost children and started an official account posting their stories.
Recently, a family named Yang found their child, causing a huge sensation in society.
She had followed that event closely.
She hoped all families could find their children and not endure endless suffering anymore.
Before she knew it, it was already five o’clock in the afternoon.
She grabbed her bag and stood up to leave. Passing by the public workspace, she saw Johnathon still working. “Johnathon, have you finished writing?”
The young man looked up and adjusted his glasses. “I’m working on it.”
“It’s time to go home; finish it tomorrow.” Sylvia smiled.
“It’s okay; I’ll stay a bit longer to finish it.” Johnathon blushed again. “I don’t have anything to do if I go home early…”
“Don’t stay too late,” Sylvia said before leaving.
By the time she got home, it was almost six o’clock. She had promised Franklin to make scallion pancakes, so she quickly changed clothes and went into the kitchen to start cooking.
“Miss, if you want something to eat, let us make it for you.” The maid in the kitchen smiled.
“It’s alright; I’m just making a few pancakes,” Sylvia replied while kneading dough.
She was very skilled at making scallion pancakes; soon enough, she made two but considering there were many people in the Hipps family now,
she made three more for a total of five pancakes,
cutting them into small pieces and placing them on a plate.
She waited for Franklin but couldn’t wait any longer and called him. “Haven’t you finished work yet?”
Franklin’s helpless voice came through. “I’m busy right now; it’ll take another half hour.”
“Alright then. We’ll start eating without you.” Sylvia didn’t want to keep everyone waiting for Franklin alone, so she called everyone for dinner. “Grandma, Uncle, let’s eat first.”
Meanwhile, at the Presidential Palace, Franklin coldly stared at the President before him. “Are you doing this on purpose?”
