Chapter 1130

Book:Surprised With Her Real Identities Published:2024-11-9

How extraordinary must that person be!
Sylvia couldn’t help but think.
She was eager for such precious information.
Like a traveler in the desert finally finding water, she began to read tirelessly.
By the time she finished one of the books, it was already daylight.
Having a background in medicine, she had some understanding of poisons, but this comprehensive guide deepened her knowledge further.
She put away the first book she read and checked the time; it was already seven in the morning.
Sylvia yawned, hurriedly freshened up in the bathroom, and then went downstairs for breakfast.
Queena noticed her pale face and asked with concern, “Didn’t sleep well last night? You have dark circles under your eyes.”
Sylvia nodded, “A friend gave me some very interesting books. I stayed up all night reading.”
“Even if you love reading, you must take care of your health!” Queena scolded lightly, handing her a glass of milk.
Sylvia smiled as she took it, “I have to go out to meet a friend later.”
“Are you meeting Evie?” Mollie came over and sat next to her. “Can I come along? I’m bored at home.”
“No,” Sylvia refused. “We’ll hang out with Evie another day.”
She put down her utensils after speaking, “I’m done eating.”
Watching her hurriedly leave with her medical kit, Mollie remarked curiously, “Mom, why does Sylvia seem so busy?”
Queena didn’t think much of it. “Don’t worry about her. Worry about yourself. Look, you didn’t eat much again this morning. Are you still feeling nauseous?”
Mollie nodded gloomily, “I don’t know when this will end.”
“Alright, eat a bit more. The baby needs nutrition.” Queena handed her an egg pancake.
But as soon as Mollie smelled it, she covered her mouth and ran off.
Queena shook her head helplessly.
After leaving the Hipps Family house, Sylvia drove towards the Dark Night branch.
The Dark Night branch was located in a relatively remote area of the capital, almost in the suburbs.
It took her nearly two hours to finally park in front of a somewhat dilapidated three-story building.
Surrounded by old buildings, it looked like a village awaiting demolition.
She got out of the car with her medical kit and walked into the yard. The yard was large, with a big yellow dog and some vegetable patches.
To outsiders passing by, this would seem like an ordinary village residence. Who would think it was the Dark Night branch?
The big yellow dog barked several times as she entered. Sylvia smiled at it, “Doggie, why are you barking?”
Unchained, it ran over and circled around her legs several times. “Alright, don’t cling to me. I’ll play with you later.”
She bypassed the dog and entered the first-floor hall.
The three-story building was simply furnished but had all necessary amenities.
Jaden came out of a room, his hair messy and wearing yesterday’s wrinkled clothes. He seemed to have just woken up from the noise.
“Boss, you’re here?”
He ran his fingers through his hair and glanced at the wall clock. “So early.”
Sylvia handed him the medical kit. “Where’s the man?”
“In this room,” Jaden pointed to the room next to his. “He’s injured and can’t move around easily, so all three are staying downstairs.”
Sylvia knocked on the door but got no response. She frowned, “Probably still unconscious.”
“Let’s go in and check.” Jaden pushed open the door and entered.
The man lay on the bed, his face pale and breathing weak.
Sylvia quickly walked over to examine him.
After a while, she began changing his dressing. “He’s doing okay as long as there’s no infection.”
“He’s running a fever. Let’s bring it down first.” She administered an antipyretic injection followed by an antibiotic. It took over ten minutes to finish everything.
Despite the simple conditions here, they had all necessary supplies.
The room was heated, so it wasn’t too cold.
She sighed and went to change the dressings for the other two injured men. “Any news on those assassins?”
Jaden shook his head. “I’ve instructed other teammates to investigate. Our Dark Night teammates are spread across several countries; it will take some time to find out.”
“Okay.” Sylvia said nothing more but felt deeply saddened by the loss of a teammate. “Is Danny’s situation taken care of?”
“His younger brother is studying at Capital University. I gave him some compensation money. Danny’s parents are gone; the two brothers rely on each other. Danny supported his brother’s education all these years…” Jaden’s eyes reddened as he spoke. “His brother wants to join Dark Night too… Boss…”
“Send me his details.” Sylvia didn’t refuse outright. “Taking care of Danny’s brother is our duty.”
“Got it!” Jaden nodded quickly. “Peter did well this time.”
He then talked at length about Peter’s performance.
Sylvia was also surprised; Peter usually went unnoticed but proved resourceful in critical moments. “Dark Night has always been clear about rewards and punishments. Peter should be rewarded for his good performance. Handle it as you see fit.”
“Thank you, Boss.”
Sylvia stayed there until after 2 PM before leaving.
Shortly after she left, Jaden sent Danny’s brother Johnathon’s details to her email.
The first thing she did upon returning home was to review Johnathon’s information.
“21 years old, senior year.”
“Majoring in finance.”
“He has received several scholarships and seems quite motivated.”
After ensuring there were no issues, Sylvia called Jaden. “I’ve reviewed it. This kid is studying finance. I’m working on a new project; let him follow me for a while.”
If he proved valuable, he could be nurtured further.
With The Little Lights Foundation being established, she needed manpower-her own people.
After arranging Johnathon’s matter, Sylvia resumed reading the books Jaden brought back until dinner time.
She rubbed her tired eyes and went downstairs, meeting Clare’s worried gaze. “Sylvia, what are you busy with?”
“Oh, nothing.” She yawned. “Reading.”
Jenna walked over suspiciously. “Sis, what kind of book is so interesting?”
“New medical books,” Sylvia said casually. Strictly speaking, poisons also fell under medicine, so she wasn’t lying.
“Sylvia, no matter how good the book is, take care of your health,” Queena approached. “What are your thoughts on The Little Lights Foundation?”
Sylvia yawned again. “Grandma, I’ll draft a proposal for you to review. The foundation aims to help families who have lost children, so we must focus on publicity.”
“Good, I trust you with this matter. Do it boldly; no need for my review. Your abilities are well-recognized,” Queena said appreciatively. “In the future… I won’t have to worry so much.”
“Alright, let’s all go to the dining room for dinner.” Clare walked alongside Sylvia towards the dining room. “Sylvia, Sky Division’s drill is coming up soon. I’ve drafted a plan; can we discuss it later?”
Clare remembered Sylvia had attended an aerospace exhibition with Franklin before and had some knowledge of aerospace matters. He wanted to invite her for discussion, hoping for some new ideas.
Sylvia nodded, “No problem.”
Queena overheard their conversation and glanced back. “Clare, I’m assigning Sylvia to help you at Sky Division. With Mollie pregnant and resting at home, you’ll be short-handed.”
“Mom… don’t you trust your son’s abilities?” Clare couldn’t help but laugh.
Queena thought deeply. “It’s not that I don’t trust you; it’s just that these are tumultuous times. The drill is crucial; if anyone tries to cause trouble, having Sylvia with you means mutual support.”
Sylvia’s combat skills were exceptional-not just any ordinary help.
The Hipps Family couldn’t afford any more turmoil; cautious steps were necessary.
The next day.
The winter weather was clear but cold; icy winds howled past as Sylvia wore a gray wool coat, exuding elegance and grace.
She got out of the car with her medical kit and entered the rural courtyard.
The most severely injured guy was awake and recovering well.
Thanks to Sylvia’s timely treatment, there were no infections or complications.
“Any news on those assassins?” Sylvia asked Jaden after checking on the injured teammates and feeling relieved.
“Eighty percent sure they’re from ZZ organization.” Jaden handed over their findings from recent days. “Boss, this ZZ organization is bizarre and terrifying. Why were they at that abandoned research facility?”
Sylvia narrowed her eyes at the information in hand. “They’ve seen Franklin and me as rivals for a long time.”
She pondered briefly. “ZZ organization killed our buddies; we must get our revenge. Keep investigating until we find their base and wipe them out.”
A flash of hatred crossed her eyes. “I won’t let Danny die in vain.”
“Yes, Boss.” Jaden felt overwhelming hatred recalling Danny’s tragic end. “I’ll find out! We’ll get justice for Danny.”
