Well, he was the president of a large company. How could he have the leisure to enjoy flowers and feed animals? Moreover, he was a chemistry professor, a high-end talent about to enter a laboratory. True researchers didn’t indulge in such trivialities.
“Then just relax today and consider it an experience of life!” Agnes handed him back his phone. “Let’s go feed the giraffes together. I’ve never done that either.”
“Sure.” He was quite willing. For some reason, his mood today was different from usual.
The sky looked beautiful, and the breeze was gentle. As the sightseeing bus drove in, a vast tranquil oasis came into view. This place emphasized returning to nature, with high levels of negative ions in the air. Breathing in the fresh air made their minds feel much clearer.
There were petting zoos, bird wetlands parks, and luxurious wilderness lodges.
“So this is also a resort area.” Agnes couldn’t help but speak up. “The environment is great for creativity.”
“The core attractions here include dining with giraffes, dancing with cranes, and BBQ buffets. Do you want to eat something first?” Tom Fritz asked considerately. “Are you hungry?”
The girl turned her head in slight confusion. “Isn’t it almost dinner time?”
“I worry you might not eat well at my house,” he said gently, putting his arm around her shoulders. “You have to deal with my grandmother and my parents.”
The girl was touched by his thoughtfulness.
“So I think it’s necessary to eat something first to fill your stomach,” Tom Fritz told her. “At the right moment, we can leave before the dinner ends.”
“Okay,” the girl agreed, thinking it made sense.
He really gave her a sense of security. So even if someone tried to embarrass her later, he would surely smooth things over in time.
They went to a restaurant and booked a spot by the edge, without walls blocking them from merging with the grassland. The giraffes here were very gentle. Visitors could feed them up close while eating, giving a slow-paced feeling of being close to nature.
This afternoon was an extraordinary experience for Agnes. Many times she felt an illusion that the gentlemanly Tom Fritz overlapped with Mr. Cat from her dreams…
There were moments when she couldn’t distinguish between reality and dreams. But she knew clearly that it was her deep obsession; she loved Mr. Cat so much that she always fantasized about him being by her side.
Just like Tom Fritz accompanying her today… Mr. Cat would also be with her.
“Do you have something on your mind?” The man sitting opposite observed her expression. “Are you unhappy? Is the food not to your taste?”
The girl quickly came back to herself and smiled up at him. “No.”
He didn’t ask further.
For Tom Fritz, this afternoon was a rare relaxation. They enjoyed flowers together; he took photos of her; they rode the same sightseeing bus.
He would naturally put his arm around her shoulders and gentlemanly hold her hand. The smile on his face was genuine; when he looked at her, there was light in his eyes… Perhaps this girl had unknowingly entered his heart, though he hadn’t realized it yet.
As evening approached, the sunset on the horizon was breathtakingly beautiful.
In Fritz Manor where roses bloomed, Jane originally wanted to call her son to ask when he would come home. But after some thought, she held back.
She wanted to see if he would really bring home a woman.
“Grandma.” Upstairs in a room, Lisa held two dresses in her hands and approached the elderly woman with a soft smile. “Which dress do you think looks best?”
The elderly woman with silver hair looked at her. “The one you’re wearing now looks great!”
The girl smiled but still looked at her expectantly. “But this one isn’t formal enough.”
