Chapter 287: Your Daughter is My Daughter

Having a history of marriage, it naturally followed that she would become pregnant and have a daughter.
In fact, the moment Lion learned of Rosalind’s relationship with Ulric, he no longer needed confirmation from anyone else.
Anyone could see the striking resemblance between the father and daughter.
Rosalind felt like she could barely stand. She could disguise her vulnerability, appearing strong and capable at any time, except when it came to her child.
She could not let the Walters family know about her child!
“What are you trying to achieve by telling me this?” Rosalind asked, her gaze sharp and wary, as if she was covered in thorns.
Lion gestured for her to relax.
“Don’t rush to question me! I talked a lot with Johnny yesterday, and during the conversation, he even asked for a photo of your daughter, which I said I didn’t have.”
“You have a photo of my daughter?”
Lion shrugged. “I don’t have one on me, but if I wanted, I could just check the surveillance at the Dreamview Hotel, right?”
“…”
“But I didn’t do that. I even discouraged Johnny’s curiosity and made sure he wouldn’t tell Ulric about your child,” Lion explained, his voice soothing. “You don’t have to be scared. You should know I’m on your side.”
Rosalind believed him; otherwise, given Johnny’s temperament, he would have already confronted her by now!
Ulric might already be in Wayer City by this point.
But…
“So, you’re asking all this just to get confirmation?” She sensed there was more to Lion’s words.
It wasn’t just about helping her or mere curiosity.
“Sort of,” Lion admitted with a casual smile. “I was happy when I learned about it! I thought about how much you must love your husband and that I’d have no chance, but since all that was a fabrication, I thought I might still have a chance to pursue you.”
Rosalind’s lips moved slightly as she firmly said, “I won’t accept anyone’s pursuit, Lion. I told you directly because I don’t want you to waste your time on me.”
“But whether it’s a waste of time should be for me to decide! I think you’re worth the effort and time.”
“I can already tell you the outcome.”
Lion smiled lazily. “No one can predict the future; you don’t know either.”
“I-”
“You don’t want to tell Ulric about the child, there must be a reason, and I might not know what it is, but it surely means there’s an irreconcilable issue between you two! If that’s the case, then it’s over between you two, and I think, I might still have a chance,” Lion interrupted her, leaning closer, “Don’t rush to reject me. I’ll keep your secret. From now on, your daughter is my daughter, and I assure you Ulric will never find out.”
His words sounded like a promise, but they also carried an implicit threat.
As a businessman, he knew how to coerce agreement, especially when he held leverage, making negotiations much easier.
Rosalind had known Lion for a while, and although they had no personal relations outside of business, she was well aware of his methods. He looked like a wealthy heir, indulging in daily pleasures and only occasionally managing the company, but in reality, Lion maintained strict control over his business.
