“I do not think I can wait any longer.” Luna Mavana stated, Her statement piqued Alpha Damian’s curiosity, puzzled the royal doctor’s gaze, furrowed the Alpha’s mother’s brow, and caused the Gamma and beta to exchange uneasy glances, their eyes widening simultaneously.
“I will advise My Alpha to mark me before the trouble begins,” she added, drawing Alpha Damian’s attention to her face.
Seeing how curious they all were, Her lips curled into a smirk as her confidence was restored, and she walked towards the door.
Her ear was itching, and her brain recognized the sensation and focused on listening to what was on their minds; her first listening was to the Gamma.
“I am not sure what is going on, but if the royal doctor is aware of the poison’s antidote but refuses to say anything, he is a betrayer.”Gamma Loan reasoned, “I need to look into this, especially since I believe it has something to do with the relation elder.”
Her eyes squinted, piqued with curiosity as she wondered what business the Gamma had with the relation elder.
Her curiosity was piqued further by the royal doctor’s thought.
“She is aware of it; how come? Someone who joined our pack recently? How many people has she discussed this with? I need to see the Relation Elder… We need to act fast”
After hearing enough, she blinked her eyes and grabbed the doorknob, twisting it up and stepping out.
As soon as the door closed behind her, all of her fears and turmoil, which no one had seen or noticed, flooded in.
The facade shattered. She exhaled deeply, and her shoulders relaxed in relief.
She took a slow inhalation, and the tension in her body began to subside.
She strode out, towards the secret library, which was not a secret library, but rather a location where only Alpha Damian and her were allowed to enter.
Her emotions overflowed as she approached the entrance, twisted the doorknob, and entered. Tears pricked the corner of her eyes and streamed down her cheeks, mixed with relief, fear, and exhaustion.
“I hope to keep this energy and not let them win. I can not go through the same struggle twice,” she thought, sitting down in a chair, her mind flashing back to her time at Crest Pack.
Her mind quickly returned to Gamma’s earlier thought, and squinting her eyes, she mouthed, “I hope we do not have to deal with another betrayal by him.”
***********
Although Luna Mavana had left the room, tension remained.
All eyes were on the Royal doctor, their questioning stares digging into his skin.
Alpha Damian cleared his throat and parted his lips to speak, his expression cold and ruthless as he turned to face the royal doctor, heightening the tension in the room.
The royal doctor’s composure crumbled quickly. He dropped to his knees.
” Forgive me, Alpha! I never intended to tell such a lie…” His thoughts were shattered, filled with fear and desperation. He did not realize how quickly he had sold himself out.
“What exactly do you mean by a lie? I thought you said tension made you say impotent, but you wanted to say infertile?” Beta Frank muttered, and the royal doctor’s head snapped up, glaring with realization.
He knew there was no way out; he had been apprehended, and this time the lie was entirely his own, with no involvement from the Elders or anyone else who could bear the consequences.
“I… I. Was..” He stuttered, his shoulders sagging with a sense of impending doom. His breathing became shallow, and his body quivered. Fear was evident on his face.
He understood the rules and the consequences of breaking them. A clear clause in the pack rules states that no one is permitted to lie in front of the Alpha.
Lying to the Alpha was punishable by death, a word he dreaded. When an idea crossed his mind, he was filled with fear.
“I can not take the blame alone!” He said to himself, then bent his head, apologizing furiously. His apology appears genuine to almost everyone in the room, but he is not an exception to the rules.
“If you are putting on an act, you are playing the part well.” The Alpha’s mother sneered, unable to believe she had nearly fallen for his lies against the Luna.
Alpha Damian prepared to declare him guilty of the crimes without hesitation; his apologies sounded and appeared genuine, but lying to the Luna was something Alpha Damian would never forgive.
“By the authority granted to me, Alpha Damian, Alpha of this kingdom,”
The royal doctor sprang his head up, expecting his punishment. He was sad that his apologies had been ignored, but he was also aware of the pack’s strict rules.
” LET IT BE KNOWN THAT:
The Royal Doctor, hereby accused of treachery and deception, shall be taken into custody immediately.
CHARGE: Lying to the Alpha, Lying against the Luna, and Giving false statements which are all grave offenses punishable by law.
ORDER:
1. The Royal Guard shall escort the accused to the pack’s dungeon since he’s a reputable man.
2. The accused shall be held in solitary confinement.
3. A trial shall be convened to determine the accused’s fate.
4. During the process of the trial, The accused is not permitted to be fed or seen asleep as safety of him/her is a necessity.
THIS, I DECLARE ”
Following the declaration, Beta Frank left the room and returned within thirty seconds with some royal guards to accompany the royal doctor to the pack’s dungeon.
“Alpha Damian, do not you think this will cause an uproar among the pack members once they hear that the royal doctor has been locked up?” The Alpha’s mother muttered, her gaze shifting from the royal guards to the Alpha.
Alpha Damian’s eyes darted around, stunned. “And I suppose the pack members will be gentle when they hear that their Luna was accused of cheating and their Alpha of being infertile.” And with that, he left the room.
