His smile was unsettling, almost gentle, yet had something dark all over. The way he looked at her while he strolled in, balancing a silver tray with breakfast in his hand, made Kira’s stomach twist. If there was anything she hated the most, it was the look in his eyes and that smile.
Kira sat propped up against the headboard of the bed she had woken up on, her wrists and ankles tightly tied with ropes. She was forced into a seated position with the way she was tied. She squirmed in place, trying to see if there was a way to break free.
“What are you doing?” She demanded, forcing herself to remain calm. “Let me go. Let me go right now.”
Dave chuckled as he moved closer to her. “Now, now, my sweet,” he said in a sickly sweet tone. “I went through all this trouble to make you comfortable. You deserve all this comfort, and this is how you treat me? I even made you breakfast, see?” He told her, pouting as he showed her the tray.
Then he sat down beside her on the bed, moving closer and leaning in. He took a long, slow sniff, his face inches from her neck.
Kira flinched, her breathing increasing as she tried pulling away, but the ropes were impossible to loosen. They held her firmly in place, and she had to turn her face to the side to avoid his gaze.
“Perfect,” he whispered against her neck before he leaned back, still holding the tray. “I know you must be hungry, so I made breakfast for you,” he said softly.
“Smells amazing, right?” He asked her, while he lifted the cover from the tray, revealing the food.
“Untie me!” Kira said calmly as she turned to him, “What is wrong with you?” She asked, but he ignored her and picked up a spoonful, getting ready to feed her.
“Come on, open up,” he told her, holding it out to her. “Ahhh.”
His voice was coaxing, his tone calm and almost playful. “I know you are hungry, plus this is so delicious. Guess how I know that?” He asked her while he smiled widely before answering the question himself. “That is because I made it myself.”
Kira just clenched her jaw, her lips pressed tightly together. “You must be crazy to think I will eat that,” she said in her mind, staring at him defiantly. She was going to make it clear that she would not comply with any of his demands.
“Ahhh,” he tried again, but she still kept her lips pressed together tightly.
Letting out a soft sigh, he decided to take a bite himself. He shook his head and took a bite, chewing slowly, his eyes never leaving hers. “See?” He smiled, swallowing the food. “Now poisoned. I will never poison you.”
“So, let’s try again,” he muttered, bringing another spoonful to her lips. “You are safe with me.”
Kira’s face and lips remained the same, only that she added a little bit of spice by turning her head away.
Dave sighed, his expression changing. He set down the tray and reached up, grabbed her face with one hand, and made her look at him. “Don’t you realize how calm and patient I am with you, my sweet?” He asked her, his facial expression now dark. “I woke up very early to make breakfast because that is what I do for my sweet, I do everything for her,” he told her, his grip tightening until her cheeks pressed inward, forcing her mouth open.
Kira winced in pain and tried to remove her face from his grip, but it only made him increase his grip more. “It is okay, if you want to make things difficult…well, we can do it that way, the hard way I mean. I would not mind forcing this food into you.”
Slowly, he released his grip and rubbed her cheeks. “Okay, so let’s try again for the last time,” he smiled, his expression now softening as his finger left her face.
“Now…ahhh,” he said with a sweet smile, holding the spoon out again.
Kira gulped, her heart beating so fast. She thought about it, and she was not on the winning end of whatever might play out if she didn’t comply.
“I just have to comply until I can find a way out,” she thought to herself. “I can do that, I can!”
Swallowing her fear, she gave in, opening her mouth just enough for him to feed her. She was scared but also brave. Being scared does not mean she will not try to fight, she will. Although right now, she had no advantage, she would have to wait until she has one.
Sometimes that fear can be what saves oneself.
As he fed her, he murmured, “Good girl. Delicious right?” He asked with a wide smile, “You would not admit to it, but I know you are enjoying it.”
As the meal went on, after several spoonfuls, Kira managed to tell him that she was full.
“I’m full,” she said softly, making him pause.
Dave considered her statement, even though she had not finished the breakfast he made for her. He was still glad she ate, so he let it go and reached for a glass of water.
“Here,” he said and pressed it to her lips, tipping it just enough for her to take a sip.
After she was done, and he was satisfied, he set the tray aside, then turned and just stared at her, smiling widely like he was lost or something.
Kira felt very uncomfortable and averted her gaze. She felt so annoyed, her jaw clenching.
Dave, on the other hand, kept staring at her for about how many minutes. Kira herself even lost count, until she thought of something.
“Could you please untie me?” She asked as sweetly as she could, not allowing the irritation she felt show. “The ropes, they hurt.”
“Do they?” He asked and tilted his head slowly, “But they are meant to hurt. Are they not?”
