“You really love your husband that much,” Lion said with a laugh, attempting to disguise his words as a joke, but the undertone of loss was unmistakable.
He realized he probably could never take that place.
“Lion, I don’t want my life to be filled with turmoil; I just want to be ordinary.”
“Does your husband love you just as much?”
Lion asked, still not ready to give up.
Rosalind was silent for a long time before she softly replied, “No one loves me more than he does.”
“Alright, I understand.”
After hanging up the phone, Rosalind set her mobile aside, feeling as if she had been hollowed out; all her courage had been spent in that confrontation with Johnny.
It was truly unbearable, every second of it!
Rosalind feared that Johnny might detect something, afraid that he would notice her lying.
She would not go to Ulric again, but she still loved him.

In the restaurant, after the call, Lion sat dejectedly.
Knowing he had ruined this meeting, Johnny poured him a full glass of wine, “It’s been a while, won’t you drink with me?”
Lion looked up, took the glass, and drained it in one go, “Tell me, what’s the beef between you and Rosalind! I’ve known her for so long and never seen her so unstable.”
Rosalind was known in the office for being easy to get along with, serious about her work, and often helping new staff. As a leader, she was approachable, and though not everyone rated her as excellent, no one gave her a poor review either.
Seeing her like that was a first for Lion.
Johnny poured himself another drink and downed it too, “This one’s on me! I messed up the dinner.”
“I’m asking you why!”
“I really can’t tell you,” Johnny said, mainly considering Ulric.
Since Rosalind had been so definitive, he did not want her to have any more dealings with his good brother, not even a little!
Lion opened his mouth as if to ask more but hesitated and remained silent.
“Forget it, I won’t ask anymore. I’m just her boss now, we’re not even friends outside of work!” he sighed, “It’s quite sad, isn’t it? To finally be moved by a woman, only to find it’s impossible.”
“Has she ever made a move on you?”
Johnny raised an eyebrow.
He was quite curious about what made Rosalind so enchanting.
Worthy of the obsession of both Ulric and Lion, two of the most eligible bachelors!
“At the office, she always plays by the rules, never overstepping the boundaries. That’s what makes her stand out.”
He recalled a project where the initial proposal kept getting rejected by investors. Rosalind simply stayed in the office, researching and writing materials day and night. She could have easily sweet-talked the investors with a dinner, but she refused to compromise, preferring to perfect the project’s data to leave the investors without objections.
“Rosalind… is truly exceptional.”
“Yes! The man who marries her is fortunate indeed.”
Lion rubbed his temples, looking dejected, “And her husband must be quite handsome too, because Rosalind’s daughter is very beautiful.”
Wait-
“Daughter? Rosalind’s daughter?!”
