“Heh.” Johnny let out a light chuckle, “You really are ruthless! No wonder Ulric took a liking to you.”
Rosalind frowned, “What exactly do you want to say or do?”
Johnny shrugged, “I’m just surprised to see you after all these years. Just making small talk, no particular agenda! You don’t need to be so guarded. I’m not quite like them…”
“I have nothing to chat about with you.” With that, Rosalind turned to leave.
Johnny quickly stepped forward to block her, “I thought you might want to ask me about Ulric, like… who his bride is.”
He couldn’t believe Rosalind wasn’t even a bit curious!
“Do I need to know?”
Who else could Ulric marry but Sirena? The Walters family wouldn’t agree to anyone else.
Seeing her indifferent demeanor, Johnny felt annoyed and directly took out his phone, dialing Ulric’s number.
Ulric never answered his calls this quickly before, as he always thought Johnny had nothing important to say. But this time, after just two rings, Ulric’s voice came through.
Rosalind’s fingertips froze, as if a thorn had pierced her heart-
“Hello? What’s up.”
Johnny didn’t respond to Ulric but instead put the call on speaker and looked at Rosalind.
“Now? Still nothing to say? Why don’t you ask him yourself who the bride is.”
“…”
“Ulric, guess who’s standing in front of me right now?” Johnny said with a smile, raising an eyebrow at Rosalind.
Rosalind instinctively looked at the phone screen, as if she could see him through it!
Time seemed to stand still; she could hear her own breathing.
After all these years…
This was the closest she had been to him! So close that she wanted to hide, to leave Wayer City immediately.
A few seconds passed, and Ulric’s voice came through, calm and composed, tinged with a bit of hoarse displeasure, “I’m not interested in knowing.”
“Hey, you-”
Before Johnny could finish his shocked sentence, the call was hung up.
At that moment, Rosalind knew Ulric had figured everything out! He was so smart; he must have known the moment Johnny asked the question.
It seemed he had nothing to say to her either and didn’t want any more entanglements.
Yes…
He hated her; he had said so himself.
Rosalind took a deep breath, trying to appear normal and not let her inner turmoil show. “Mr. Chow, is your curiosity still not satisfied? Please let me go! If you think there’s something between Lion and me, I can resign and leave. I was planning to leave the country after this project anyway.”
Taking her child away from this place where she had to be vigilant every moment!
She had encountered too many old acquaintances recently. Many people thought Floyd resembled Ulric, and she had been living in constant fear every day.
“Who said anything about Lion? I’m talking about you and Ulric-”
“There is even less possibility of anything between him and me! As you saw, Ulric doesn’t want anything to do with me, and I have no intention of getting involved with him again. So rest assured, I won’t ruin his marriage with Sirena.”
Johnny was taken aback and pursed his thin lips, “He didn’t marry Sirena.”
“…”
“Ulric said he would never marry someone who hurt you.”
