Before Lion could speak, Rosalind directly refused.
“I have nothing to say to you.”
“Do you want them to hear your past story?”
As soon as Johnny said this, Rosalind’s body stiffened slightly.
He guessed that Rosalind had certainly not mentioned her past with Ulric to anyone. He didn’t know why, but there must be a reason for her secrecy, enough to threaten her into compliance.
“What are you talking about?” Lion was a bit confused, looking at Rosalind and then at Johnny.
Johnny smiled and said, “You don’t know, this Miss Ruell previously with-”
“Enough!” Rosalind suddenly interrupted sharply, looking up at Johnny. “I can listen to you, let’s talk over there.”
Johnny achieved his goal and made an OK gesture. “Lion, you wait for me! Don’t worry, I’ll definitely bring her back for dinner.”
“…”
Lion looked at Rosalind and seeing she had no objection, he could only nod. “Alright, I’ll wait for you.”
Watching him turn and walk into the restaurant until he was completely out of sight, Rosalind coldly spoke, “Mr. Chow, I remember we have no grievances between us, right? The Walters family and Sirena wanted me to leave Ulric, and I did. What are you threatening me for now?”
Johnny touched the cigarette pack in his pocket and lit one. “Of course, I’m curious how you got close to Lion!”
The word “close” had a subtle implication.
It was hard not to associate it with something unsavory.
Rosalind clenched her fists, her nails digging deeply into her flesh. “I have a proper superior-subordinate relationship with him. If you think there’s a problem, you can have him fire me! If Mr. Chow just followed me to humiliate me, then please hurry up and say it. I still have work to do.”
Johnny took a drag of his cigarette and smirked. “Why would I humiliate you? I’m just curious how you managed to make Ulric so devoted to you and then also win Lion’s favor! And then you married an unknown man-was that a tactic? Rosalind, what is your purpose in reappearing now?”
He could only think that Rosalind had come back for revenge!
Back then, she seemed obedient, leaving Ulric and not pursuing the cause of her mother’s death. But Johnny always felt that Rosalind wasn’t so easily dismissed! She didn’t care about money or benefits when she agreed to the conditions; she must have been planning to return one day!
“So what are you afraid of now, standing here questioning me?”
Rosalind didn’t answer but threw the question back at him.
Yes, what was he afraid of? What were the Walters family and Sirena afraid of?
If they had done nothing wrong and were truly innocent, why fear her return to the country!
“…” Johnny didn’t expect that years later, Rosalind had become sharp-tongued and lethal with her words, leaving him speechless.
“I know you’re Ulric’s good friend and want him to be with Sirena, but none of that concerns me now! As for your question, I can only tell you clearly that my purpose is not to return to Ulric’s side.”
Johnny’s cigarette ash fell to the ground, nearly burning his hand.
He squinted at the woman in front of him. “Do you know he’s getting married?”
“I know.”
“Not even a little affected?”
“No.”
