“I have nothing to do with him!”
Rosalind blurted out almost instinctively.
The two people in front of her flinched, thinking they had said something wrong again.
Rosalind stood still for a few seconds to calm herself, then waved her hand, “Let’s go. Don’t say such things lightly in the future. This is a society governed by law. If it really goes to court, you’ll lose more than just compensation; you’ll jeopardize your future career prospects.”
“We understand! We’re really sorry.”
She had no strength left to say anything more and just waved them away.
The moment she heard those words, Rosalind felt as if all the strength had been drained from her body, her fingertips trembling uncontrollably.
Even after all these years, was she still unable to completely erase him from her world?
It turns out… some people are too remarkable to ever forget.
Rosalind returned to the hotel, where Tilda had just put Floyd to sleep.
Seeing Rosalind’s forlorn expression, Tilda thought those people had come to trouble her again.
“Tell me if something’s wrong! Did they bully you again?”
“No.” Rosalind forced a smile and sat on the bed next to Tilda. “Tilda… you should take Floyd back home tomorrow.”
Tilda paused for a moment, then nodded, “Alright! We’ll wait for you at home.”
“Okay.”
Tilda didn’t ask further questions because if Rosalind said this, there must be some inconvenient situation here.
Over the years, besides money, the reason Rosalind kept pushing herself was for her two children. Tilda couldn’t let anything happen to those she cared about because that would mean losing a friend.
“Don’t worry, Floyd is very obedient. I’ll take good care of her! She’s so excited to see her brother that she doesn’t even want to sleep at night.”
Rosalind smiled. It seemed that only when talking about her children could she genuinely smile.
…
The next morning, Rosalind specially arranged for a car to send Tilda and Floyd away before heading to the construction site herself.
Before she even got inside, she saw Lion’s car parked at the entrance!
It was quite surprising that he came to the site in person.
Lion had always been the pampered young master type. Although he was a very approachable leader who wouldn’t make things difficult for others, he would still disdain coming to such a dusty place.
As Rosalind got out of the car and walked in, Lion spotted her from afar.
“Over here!”
He waved vigorously, not caring about the curious looks from others.
But after last night’s events, Rosalind was very mindful of appearances! She walked over steadily and greeted him respectfully yet distantly, “Mr. Lion.”
“…” Lion was taken aback by this formal address.
“Why didn’t you inform us beforehand that you were coming to the site? Mr. Wong could have made arrangements.”
“I’m here to see you; no need for his arrangements.” Lion squinted and smiled. “I’ll be leaving the country in a few days. Considering you’re a major contributor, I thought I should treat you to lunch!”
Rosalind didn’t dare accept the invitation and was about to decline when Lion quickly added,
“It’s not just the two of us; there’s also someone with some standing in the business world. I thought I’d introduce you two. There might be opportunities for collaboration in the future.”
“Oh? Who might that be?”
Lion raised an eyebrow mysteriously. “You’ll find out when you come! If you’re worried, you can bring Mr. Wong along. It’s really just a gentleman’s invitation; don’t overthink it.”
