Chapter 273: I Don’t Believe She’s Innocent

Seeing that Rosalind seemed troubled by this issue, Mr. Wong patted her shoulder, “Don’t overthink it! I believe it’s likely that the local officials are worried about the development project being affected and decided to intervene. After all, this resort project is highly beneficial for Wayer City’s development. If the project were to change because the person in charge was assaulted by villagers, they definitely wouldn’t want to see that happen.”
Hearing his reasoning, Rosalind felt relieved and nodded, “Hmm, that’s possible. You and Lion should avoid intervening and putting pressure on them. These villagers just want more money; it’s human nature. The key is not to escalate the conflict and affect the project.”
“You! Always thinking about the project. No wonder you’ve risen so quickly! Honestly, I’ve been in the workplace for many years and have seen many women using various means to climb up the ladder. But you are the only one who has done it cleanly with your own ability!”
Others might not know, but Mr. Wong was very clear about it!
Given Lion’s feelings for her, if Rosalind were to give him a hint, not only would she secure her managerial position, but even becoming the general manager of a branch would just be a matter of Lion saying a word.
Rosalind smiled slightly, “You can say that to me, but don’t say it in front of other women; it could cause controversy.”
“Tsk! I’m just speaking the truth.”
She smiled and turned to walk deeper into the construction site.
The resort’s construction involved many sub-projects. The catering part required bidding, and the accommodation and entertainment facilities needed separate negotiations with partners, so Rosalind had a heavy workload.
Of course, she took on this workload herself to ensure a larger share of the project’s profits.
“Miss Ruell, here are some design plans for the amusement facilities, just completed.” The responsible person handed her the documents.
Rosalind looked at them seriously for a while and then frowned, “Try to reduce the number of thrilling projects like these. The people who come to this resort usually have some status and might not be interested in something like a giant roller coaster.”
“They also enjoy thrilling activities!”
“I think it’s more about your company making more money from these entertainment facilities.” Rosalind directly pointed out, not giving the other party a chance to explain, “What I care about is not applying for an increased budget for these parts but the risk associated with such projects! If you are willing to fully bear any subsequent consequences, then I am willing to try something different.”
The responsible person immediately waved his hand, laughing awkwardly, “Since Miss Ruell has said so, how dare I go against it! I’ll make some changes.”
“Alright.”
Rosalind nodded, handed back the plans, and went on to inspect other parts of the construction.
The progress here was quite fast after the demolition. The faster it went, the more closely it needed to be monitored to ensure that the workers knew they couldn’t cut corners and that inspections were ongoing.
After a busy day, it was almost dark when Rosalind finally felt hungry and prepared to return to the hotel.
Covered in dust, she went to the restroom before leaving. As soon as she entered, she overheard someone talking about her.
“I heard that Miss Ruell is married and has a child, but no one has ever seen her husband! I bet she’s a mistress or a second wife; that’s why her husband never shows up!”
“I heard that too. There have been many company gatherings where family members were invited, but she never brings anyone! But… if I had her looks, I’d take shortcuts too. She rose so quickly in the company; I don’t believe she’s innocent.”
Rosalind listened with an indifferent expression as she washed her hands. Then she walked over and knocked on the stall door-
“Who’s there? This stall is occupied!”
“It’s Rosalind.”
