Chapter 118 – Hazel

Book:Claiming her babies Published:2024-11-6

Anthony’s POV
“The baby is coming?” I repeated, my eyes widening as I rose to my feet in shock. The baby wasn’t supposed to come until two weeks from now.
“Shit where are you now?” I asked, panic engulfing me as my palm began sweating.
“Get your ass here now” Fiona yelled and I wondered where this sudden agitation was coming from.
“You have to go to the hospital right now,” Monica said, her voice laced with urgency as she grabbed her bag from the couch and hurriedly walked outside.
“We will stay back with the kids. Quick Anthony, you have to start going. Fiona needs you” Aunt Ella said.
“Give me the keys,” Nicholas asked, stretching his hands and gesturing for me to hand over the car keys which were in my pocket “I’ll drive you there,” he said as he grabbed the key from my hands and dashed out of the house.
I just stood still as Fiona’s words kept ringing in my head. THE BABY IS COMING.
I didn’t even know how to react to this news. I don’t know if I should be praying or happy or
“Anthony we have to get going” Nicholas’s sharp tone interrupted my thoughts as I instantly rushed out of the living room and joined Nicholas in the car with Monica.
Nicholas started the engine and soon, we hit the road. My hands trembled as my heart raced in my chest. I was nervous, scared and anxious.
Was Fiona okay? Had she already gotten to the hospital? Where was she right now? Did she go to the hospital herself?
Different thoughts bombarded my head, leaving me more anxious than ever.
“Are you okay Anthony?” Monica asked, her eyes roaming my face “Why are you sweating?” she asked and I could see Nicholas look at me through the rear mirror.
Nicholas burst out laughing as his chest went up and down, his loud contagious laugh filling the silent car
“Why are you laughing?” Monica asked and I noticed a frown on her face.
She might have thought Nichole was laughing at her but the real truth was that he was laughing at me. The idiot was making fun of me.
“I’m sorry dear but Anthony had me cracking up. He is sweating because he is nervous. I was scared as shit when you were giving birth to Mason and Macy and back then, I was shaking in fear so I understand Anthony perfectly for sweating even under the AC” Nicholas said, his eyes fixed on the road.
“Can you drive a little faster?” I asked, my eyes fixed on the road as I ignored Nicholas.
I was more bothered about Fiona than Nicholas right now.

As soon as we got to the hospital, I dashed out of the car and rushed into the big building in front of me. The smell of a mix of antiseptic, blood, and drugs filled my nostrils as I took large steps to the front desk
“I’m here for Fiona. Please where is she?” I asked.
“Good day, Mr Anthony. We have many patients with the name Fiona and we would like you to be specific about her last name and_”
“sir?” I heard someone yell from the hallway and I was surprised to see Klaus, who was Fiona’s driver “This way” he yelled again and I instantly ran from the front desk and followed Klaus as he took two bends
“Where is she?” I asked and instantly, a piercing scream echoed and I knew it was Fiona.
“Don’t worry Anthony. She is going to be fine. She is strong_” Nicholas tried to say but Fiona’s next scream interrupted him
“Anthonyyyyyyy” Fiona yelled and I felt chills down my spine. Her voice was laced with a mix of pain and anger.
“Can I go in? I need to see her” I said, sweat flowing from the side of my head as I heard another of Fiona’s screams.
“I’m sorry sir but you can’t go in,” A doctor said, walking right into our conversation and walking past us into the theater
“But I need to see her,” I said but he already walked through the door of the theater.
Her screams were piercing my heart and I panicked every time I heard her shout. “Is it that painful?” I asked, shifting my gaze to Monica.
“My vagina tore while I was having Mason so yes, it’s that painful,” Monica said.
I paced in the hallway as I kept looking at the door of the theatre and waiting for the time the doctor would come out.
“Anthony calms down,” Nicholas said, sitting on the visitors chair and folding his legs elegantly.
I glared at him as I ignored him. The doctor came out a s I almost bumped into him “How is she?”
“Who is Anthony?” The doctor asked, taking off the face mask he wore and throwing it into the bin.
“Me” I yelled instantly as I leaned closer to him.
“Congratulations Mr Anthony. Your wife has just delivered a baby girl” the doctor said, stretching his hand for a handshake, which I took as every nervousness and fear evaporated.
“Woah,” Nicholas said, standing to his feet “Congratulations buddy. You’ve got a princess” Nicholas said excitedly.
I hugged the doctor instantly as excitement engulfed me. “Thank you” I said, hugging him tightly
“You’re welcome,” the doctor said, standing frozen from the unexpected hug.
I broke the hug and felt large arms wrapped around my shoulder. “Congratulations my friend” he said, shining his teeth and wearing a broad smile on his face “Welcome to the world of fathers and responsibilities”, he said, and I smiled.
“Can I see her?” I asked, my gaze fixed on the doctor.
“Of course you can. You can go right in” the doctor said, and I rushed in through the door.
I stood still as I watched Fiona breastfeeding a little creature in her hand. “Hey,” I said as I walked closer to her.
“She has your eyes,” Fiona said, a weak smile on her face. ” Our daughter is very beautiful”, she added.
“she’s very beautiful,” I said and I leaned closer to Fiona to take a closer look at my beautiful daughter.
It felt good to say that word. Now I have two beautiful women I had in my life. “I’m glad you’re here. What should we call her?” Fiona asked and my daughter opened her eyes slowly, staring at me and I noticed she indeed had my eyes.
“Hazel, we are going to name her Hazel” I responded, holding her tiny hand which was tightly in a fist with huge excitement in my heart.
