Chapter 108 – An unexpected email
Nicholas POV
ONE WEEK LATER
It’s been one week since Monica came back from the hospital. Everything has been going great except the fact that every surgeon or specialist I reach out to keeps saying there isn’t a cure for Monica’s illness.
I sat in my office, staring at my laptop as I refreshed my email, hoping to see a new email pop up but each email kept saying the same thing.
In deep regret, we wish to inform you that at the moment, there aren’t any cures for the specified brain tumor.
Each email kept saying the same thing and I ran my hand through my hair in frustration. Searching for a cure for her illness hasn’t been easy.
I always make sure Monica doesn’t catch me sending emails because she’s always sad and worried I might be stressing myself too much but I can’t let her die.
Going through the world of my search browser, I found a top German brain surgeon and scientist who was known for his research and discovery of cures for brain tumors.
I instantly checked out the profile and everything about him and I proceeded to send an email but paused on the keyboard because I had no idea about the Deutsch language.
I stared at my laptop as I started constructing another email to his hospital-based in Germany.
I wrote the email in English, converted it to Deutsch, and sent the hospital a quick email.
I sent other emails to different hospitals and scientists and sighed in relief as I completed another usual cycle of my life.
“hey, Nicholas any luck?” Anthony asked, as he entered my office and walked to where I sat.
“For now no but I’m keeping my fingers crossed. I’ve decided to also reach out to other laboratories and surgeons living in other countries”
“then if you find a hospital outside the country capable of curing the brain tumor_”
“I’ll travel with Monica and we go get the cure together,” I said, cutting Anthony’s words short.
Silence lingered as Anthony looked sadly at me “I hope everything goes as planned Nicholas” he said, his voice laced with concern
“Everything has to go as planned. I have just one week left to get a cure for my wife and nothing is going to stop me” I said in determination
” what if things don’t end up like we had expected? What about we don’t get a cure for Monica and she dies then what will_”
“Monica isn’t going to die” I yelled, hitting my hand which was in a fist on my desk as I glared at Anthony for his use of words “She isn’t going to die, Anthony,” I said then sighed in exhaustion “Anthony, I want to hear positive words and not negative words. I don’t want any negative energy around me”
“I’m sorry. I’m just worried about you. You barely come for meetings and you barely have enough sleep. You’re overworking yourself, Nicholas. Take a break at least” Anthony suggested but I paid deaf ears and ignored him.
