Chapter 61: Eager to know

Book:His Unwanted Bride (Married by Mistake) Published:2024-11-1

Adrian woke up the next morning and visited all the orphanage homes in New Jersey. Millions of dollars went into this action and he requested that in return, they all pray and wish his dear wife, Ava Leon and his unborn baby a happy existence on the other side.
He felt happy. He would decide before the next year’s remembrance if he would adopt two kids, a boy and a girl whose age would be almost what his unborn baby would have been, if he were born.
Adrian got back to work again. Within the last three years, the Lester business has tripled. Adrian focused on making the conglomerate economically stable than he inherited it.
On this particular morning, three days after the yearly remembrance of Ava Leon, Adrian was walking briskly out of his office for a meeting with the board members when Clem informed him that someone wants to see him and according to her, it’s important.
Adrian waved those words aside and told Clem “I have more important things to do,”and went towards the elevator. He glanced at the beautiful dressed woman standing behind Clem and didn’t spare her a glance.
“More important than Ava Leon?” Luna Wesley pursed her lips in a self satisfied smirk. She saw all his propaganda since the last two years that she regained her freedom.
The yearly remembrance, the gifts and visits to the orphanage, and the rest of it. He might not like Ava, but his acts and pretence made her decide to visit him.
She’d secretly made a search and one thing was evident, something isn’t right somewhere. She wants to know if this rich spoiled brat knows a thing or has an idea of anything.
Anna Lester is not qualified to birth and raise a responsible person for a son. Likes beget likes. Only women like her can have a son like Adrian Lester. That’s how it has always been. Once she gets united with her son, she would take revenge for all she’d made her go through.
When Adrian heard the woman’s words, he paused in his tracks and let the elevator remain open. The right foot he lifted to place into the elevator was gradually brought down and he turned to glance at the woman with a face that had many unasked questions.
For a few seconds, he kept his gaze glued on the woman. Finally someone wants to talk to him about his wife? He’d looked forward to a day like this.
The woman looked sophisticated and extremely fair. She wore a wig and her eyes were concealed in the dark spectacle she wore. But somehow, he felt somewhat familiar to her.
He turned briefly and glanced at Clem, “Reschedule the meeting to take place in two hours time” he instructed and shifted his gaze back on the woman.
She seemed to look calm, having this lackadaisical attitude that only she knows what she has up her sleeves that made her feel so relaxed.
Adrian glanced at one of his bodyguards again and got back into his office. That bodyguard let Luna pass through a formal security check and give her access into the CEO’s office.
When Luna stepped in, something caught her attention first. On the wall of Adrian’s office hung a beautiful portrait of Ava Leon, directly above his chair.
Hmmm, was all these for show or he suddenly decided to care for her, after the unfortunate incident? What good would a medicine do to someone after death?
“Please take your seat” Adrian offered. The woman seemed to be so glued to the picture of his wife that he wondered if she’d not met her before.
If she hadn’t met Ava in her lifetime, then she missed a sweet soul that crossed the earth. If hundreds of women on the earth are like Ava, there would be less demons like himself.
“Thank you Adrian Lester” Luna said and took her seat on the sofa. The office was really sophisticated. Well befitting the CEO of a multi billion company.
Richard was a great guy back then, this son of his only reminded her of him. They have a huge kind of similarities between them. A son like his father in terms of taste but like his mother in his evilness.
Adrian stared at the strange woman. He knows that his men would be working on a background check on her. And soon, he would know who she truly is.
“Who are you and what do you have to say about my wife?” He demanded impatiently. Honestly, he wants to hear everything the woman has to say. He is in such a hurry to know what she wants to tell him about Ava Leon.
“Call me Luna, an ex-convict and the last person that shared moments with your unwanted bride, I mean to say, your rejected wife” she said and smirked in satisfaction.
He should know that he has to convince her a whole lot for her to believe this open propaganda he was doing about Ava Leon. When a man hurts his wife and pushes her to the point where things go sour, nothing else would make up for the times he’d hurt her, especially if he doesn’t have the chance to say sorry to his wife until they get separated forever or however in the case of Ava Leon.
Adrian’s gaze went deeply introverted. She also knows about his terrible marriage to Ava? So are there people who also know that he was yet to meet?
His evil will always bring him out. He was mean to her and now, he would have to face the turmoil and torment of his past sins. He sighed softly and looked down, his hands intertwined with each other.
“Why are you here to see me?” Adrian asked again. He wants to know why she’d come to see him. He feels ashamed to stay within the vicinity of people who knew his ruthless attitude towards Ava back then.
“To talk about Ava Leon” Luna blurted and paused, staring at him with a firm gaze, devoid of mercy, like a detective, interrogating a suspect.
Adrian squinted. He appeared interested but was quiet until Luna continued “Don’t you think there are a lot of things we should talk about her? Things about her death?”
“More than you, I am eager to know what you have to say about my wife. Knowing that she spent her last few days with you, you probably might have something to tell me” Adrian stuttered.
Luna wore a broader smirk and asked “Are you trying to convince everyone that she died?” She asked. She doesn’t trust Anna’s son at all. He definitely has the traits of evilness of his mother in him.
“Trying to convince everyone? I don’t understand you at all” Adrian scowled, his temper trying to surge within him. Who doesn’t know that his wife died? What is ‘trying to convince’, everyone got to do here?
Luna had sown the seed in his heart already. She stood up and said “If you’re truly Anna Lester’s son, then you are a bad guy. When the time comes, you’ll tell everyone what you did to Ava to have that stinking mistress of yours by your side” she declared and walked towards the door.
“Wait, Ms. Luna!” Adrian blurted hastily.
