Chapter 54: Richard knows

Book:His Unwanted Bride (Married by Mistake) Published:2024-11-1

Nothing mattered to old man Lester now than the pain he felt his dear friend Sam Leon was going through. He needs to visit him. He was hospitalised and didn’t know initially, but now, he cannot claim not to know.
He called Alice and when the latter came before him he asked “Do you know where Sam Leon and his wife live?” He asked. Of course she would know
Alice sighed softly. What on earth is happening in the Lester family? Why are they keeping something as important as Sam Leon’s death away from grandfather Lester?
He would eventually know. No matter how hard they keep it away from him, he would still know. She doesn’t know if she should tell him the truth or not. But it would be better if his son told him directly.
Adrian has been missing for days. If grandfather is going to faint, it would be better if he should do that before his son. Ava Leon was falsely accused and the result of it; they all are still mourning.
If she tells him the heartbreaking news and anything negative happened, then she definitely would have to face a firing squad for it. She will not tell him anything. Let Richard do the talking.
“Alice, did you hear me ask you a question?” Grandfather Lester asked. How can Alice be staring at him and not hear him ask her a question.
“Yes father. I heard that Clara is still in shock and in the hospital” Anna replied giving an answer to the question she was not asked.
“I know that already. I asked you if you know where Sam Leon lives?” Old man Lester repeated.
“Well, Mr Richard does. How about you ask him when he comes?” Alice responded. She knows that he would understand. An old man like him would be able to read her decision from her words.
“That’s alright Alice” grandfather Lester said and dismissed her. He would wait for Richard to come back. His son had become a restless man because his son was missing.
But at least there is hope that Adrian will be found. He is either hiding somewhere or being abducted by his rivals. Whichever way, there’s still hope that he will come back home.
If only Ava’s story is like that. Then he would have waited by the gate all day until she returned. But that’s different. She’s gone, never to return.
Richard had the detectives search out his son’s whereabouts. He searched all the properties they’ve got if perhaps he was staying there, away from everyone but he wasn’t there at all.
A week passed and Adrian stepped out. At this time, the hope of finding him has gotten really slimmer and they hung it on probability. They might find him or may not.
Richard had taken over the business and chains of the companies again. He wouldn’t let anyone know about the internal situation of things with his family. As far as he was concerned, only a few people knew about Adrian’s whereabouts.
Adrian decided to check on Lola, he hadn’t seen her in a long time and she might be the most worried person about him. The whole incident with Ava made him get occupied mentally and emotionally.
He got into his car and drove himself to a florist shop. When he gets back from there, he would put his findings into action and he would put the suspect up for interrogation.
He ordered a bouquet of roses and went along with it. He would tell her to wait for him, to give him time to mourn Ava properly and then they would get married.
He arrived at her apartment and from a distance, he saw a Lexus parked close by but didn’t think about it. Lola Carrero only occupies one of the apartments after all. The car would probably belong to another occupant.
To make it a surprise, he didn’t use the doorbell, rather he used his card to unlock the door and stepped in. But as soon as he stepped in, he felt uncomfortable. Then something caught his attention: A male wristwatch, shirt and a pair of shoes at the door.
He glanced at the wall clock, it really was getting dark. But does Lola have a male guest in the house? Why didn’t he know? Well, how can he know after blanking out for days, away from everyone including her.
His curiosity got the hold on him and he took the stairs to her room. As he approached the door, he saw that it was slightly left open….
********************
In X-city, Ava was informed that her mother had come out of coma but has refused to say anything to anyone. She wouldn’t take any food presented to her nor would she take her medicine.
Some of her medicines were converted to intravenous ones and some that do not have it constituted in fluid form were left untouched. Perhaps her momma still couldn’t bring herself to accept the reality of her disappearance.
Ava became restless. Her momma has been through a lot. Papa was dead. She’s alone and then the news that she disappeared. Her heart is broken and weird thoughts would be crossing her mind about her.
She requested that she wants to talk to her momma and Jimmy got her message across. A few minutes later, she was told to be ready to have a video call with her.
In the private hospital, Regina, the assigned health assistant to Clara, came to her bedside, holding a computer. She took Clara’s hand and smiled at her.
“Mrs Clara, how are you doing today?” He asked, still wearing a Megawatt smile but Clara turned to glance at her and remained mute.
She should know she can’t be fine. How can she be, when her daughter was dead, shortly after her husband? How can she ever find any reason to think she would be fine in this world again?
She just wants to thank whoever the good Samaritan was who brought her to such an expensive place to get her treated. The medical team she’d been seeing are experts. Men and women who know the science of medicine to the core.
She never would have been able to afford such treatment at all. Once she gets to know whoever the person is, she would appreciate the person and leave. But that person must not come from the Lester family, because if he or she does, she would bite and scratch the person’s face for taking her family away from her.
Seeing her patent was not responding, Regina continued “I have good news for you, someone who knows you wants to talk to you alone” she said, placed the computer on her bedside table and kissed her chin before stepping out.
Clara just glanced at the computer and she saw a beautiful elegant lady walking towards the computer. Her face looks familiar but she’s not sure she’d met her.
The lady walked over and sat down and when Ava saw the weary face of her momma, her excitement of seeing her again, were replaced with tears and sniffing.
“Momma..” she stuttered.
