Adrian Lester just kept his gaze on her without blinking. Ava Leon also stared back, her eyes shooting daggers at him and Adrian wondered if he was staring straight at Ava Leon.
He’d been married to this woman for two years but they lived as strangers under the same roof and he’s never gotten anything to do with her. How come he’d never seen this audacity in her.
She called him a cruel nature man, an unfaithful man and thinks stepping into his room was something she was enduring. That’s really crazy of her.
But then, she demands for a divorce. They both were going to be separated from each other, something he’d envisaged and was thinking of discussing it with his family.
A smirk appeared on his face and his gaze was softened as he stared back at Ava. She didn’t for once take her eyes off nor did she look remorseful in her utterance.
What he was seeing in those eyes of hers was pure determination and hatred for him. That’s nice. He’d wanted this hatred in her for a long time, to provoke her into getting separated and he achieved it.
He would forever be grateful for the storm. How else can it bring him more fortune than it already did?
“The feeling is mutual, Ava. I also want a divorce” he finally replied with a smirk. His cold hearted stare suddenly turned into a beautiful smile, a charming smile that any woman would want to see her man put on, for her.
Ava Leon saw him smile and she confirmed this to be the first time Adrian Lester smiled at her ever since she’d known him. His smile was attractive and his teeth were sparkling white and his diastema added to his handsomeness.
“I’m happy that now, we both have a mutual feeling over the same subject matter. I’ll have a lawyer prepare it” Ava declared and wanted to walk past him when Adrian said.
You don’t have to bother about getting a lawyer, I have numerous of them at my finger tip. I’ll have them prepare the procedure.
But I need to remind you that once we are divorced, you’re forever separated from the Lester family and even if you regret your actions, there isn’t anything anyone can do about it” He warned.
Ava Leon chuckled aloud and said “Regret? Are you for real? Your Lester family is the worst place any woman would ever dreamt of being a part of, except the likes of Lola though” she mocked and opened the door, leaving Adrian in a bewildered state.
Are they so horrible? Why is this woman making him feel that his family is devoid of love and affection? They were happy and everything was alright until she came in and ruined their happiness.
Or is he the one who ruined it? How can she think of them that way? First she thinks he is cruel and unfaithful, and now, she said his family is the worst place anyone could ever desire to be.
She’s wrong with her senseless assumption on what she says or thinks about him and his family? But on one thing, she’s right.
Lola is the only woman that can feel comfortable in his Lester family because the place of the young Mrs Lester was hers in the first place. And when the mistake has been flushed out, the real person would occupy her position.
She’s right. Lola would be comfortable and would be treated like the queen that she truly was. Adrian bolted his door and sank into his bed. He’s so happy.
While Ava stepped out of Adrian’s room, towards her room, Anna Lester stepped out just in time and knew Ava was coming from Adrian’s room.
She chuckled softly. They don’t like each other but they sneak to have fuck each other. Why wouldn’t Adrian just share the same room with her, with that they could make love a number of times before dawn.
She hopes Adrian plants his seed in her belly. What she wants from them both at the moment is a grandchild.
Next morning, everyone was at the dinner table. Ava Leon was still upstairs. Anna didn’t bother her because she felt, after being fucked by her son at midnight, she might have been drained of strength and hence needed more time to sleep.
Adrian was seated and having his breakfast. He was wondering if Ava wouldn’t come downstairs for breakfast. They haven’t gotten divorced yet after all.
His Mom kept passing him glances and smiling. He doesn’t know what’s making her smile so broadly at him. But sometimes, Mom is just unpredictable.
Eventually Ava descended the stairs, dressed in a beautiful chiffon purple gown and her hair styled in shorts waves.
Anna saw her and smiled. What sex does to a woman is so unique. See how beautiful and smart Ava looks that morning and it’s all thanks to Adrian.
“Good morning everyone” Ava Leon said, and walked straight to the dishes. Picked dishes for herself and took cutleries.
Everyone exchanged glances. She was so casual and they’ve never seen her so carefree in the past. What happened to her?
“You didn’t join Alice to prepare breakfast today?” Anna asked, trying to act motherly but this time, she wasn’t screaming at her, she said it gently.
“The last time I checked, I am not an employee of this family nor am I a cook. I am the supposed daughter in-law, right mother in-law?” Ava replied, and glared at her, her gaze lingering on Anna’s face longer than normal.
Ava Leon’s response left Anna Lester dazed. She paused and was still. Something has changed about this woman. The storm and spending the night in the hospital had caused a significant change in her.
Adrian’s temple shrunk as he glared at Ava Leon. How dare she talk back to his mother this way and right before him? Who the hell does she think she is?
Richard sighed softly and continued with his breakfast. Of course, Anna wouldn’t give Ava Leon a response to her question. Has she lost her mind to answer such a question?
Old man Lester, pretended not to hear a word of what transpired between these two women. Ava Leon’s response came from a long time of tolerance.
She has tolerated her mother in-law, respected her and almost worshipped her. But how did her supposed mother-in-law treat her? With utmost disdain.
Now, the young woman has developed a thick skin and would give back to Anna what she’d also received from her. It’s a law of reciprocity.
Seeing that Anna couldn’t respond to her question, Ava Leon chuckled aloud and picked dishes for herself before turning to go.
Richard saw that Ava Leon was going to have her breakfast somewhere else, away from them all when he tried to stop her.
“Ava, you’ll sit here and have breakfast with everyone else” he instructed. She cannot go elsewhere to have her breakfast except together with them on the same dinning.
Ava paused in her steps and turned to glance at her father in-law “Why father?” She asked. Henceforth she will do whatever she likes until this miserable union called marriage she now finds herself ends.
“Because we are family” Richard snapped at her. How dare she question him? What audacity?
“Family?” Ava Leon asked, turning around and walking closer “You call us family, are you for real, father in-law?”
