Amelia pov
It is not an ordinary situation, Lucas; you make trivial errors every day.
I tossed my hairbrush in his direction and confidently rose from my dressing stool, striding toward my wardrobe in my light, silky nightwear that accentuated my curves.
I cast a seductive glance at Lucas, who was completely absorbed in the entertainment magazine that had just arrived moments ago. In a swift motion, I yanked open the wardrobe door, allowing it to crash against the adjacent door, successfully capturing his attention with the noise.
“What is the matter with you, Amelia? You are interrupting my morning reading, may I ask?”
“No, you may not, Alpha Lucas. I require the morning,” I replied, trailing off as I gestured toward the wardrobe for him to see for himself.
He raised his eyebrows and chuckled.
“You must be joking, right?”
“Who do you think I am, a clown, Alpha Lucas? I need money.”
Lucas’s gaze swept over the open wardrobe, and his expression shifted from amusement to disbelief. The typically tidy space was now a chaotic array of colorful outfits, shoes scattered haphazardly, and accessories carelessly thrown about.
“Amelia, what on earth…?” Lucas’s voice faltered, his brow knitted in confusion.
“I require financial assistance, Lucas,” I reiterated, my voice tinged with both frustration and urgency. “Someone has broken into my wardrobe and vandalized my clothing. I need replacements, and I need them immediately.”
Lucas’s attention shifted from the wardrobe to me, his expression becoming more intense. “Are you saying that someone broke in solely to ruin your clothes?”
I affirmed with a nod, placing my hands on my hips. “Yes, that is precisely what I am conveying. I believe it is connected to the unsettling messages I have been receiving.”
Lucas’s demeanor grew serious. “Messages? What kind of messages?”
I paused, realizing I had not yet disclosed this information to him. “Just some disturbing texts. Messages like ‘You are not worthy’ and ‘Your beauty is a deception’… that sort of thing.”
Lucas’s expression darkened further. “Why did you not inform me of this?”
I shrugged in response. “I assumed it was merely the work of a prankster, but now… I realize I need funds to address this situation.”
Without uttering a word, Lucas approached the wardrobe and began to assess the extent of the damage. His gaze meticulously examined the torn fabrics and shattered accessories.
“I will handle this, Amelia,” he stated, his tone calm yet firm. “We will uncover who is responsible and ensure they face consequences.”
“No, I caused the damage myself; you cannot possibly think that this trivial matter is causing me distress,” I quietly remarked, rolling my eyes as he regarded me with a sense of urgency.
“I thought your wardrobe was…”
I interrupted him, “What? Come on, Lucas, I require a new wardrobe as your Luna.” I placed my hands on his shoulders and moved closer, our eyes locking for a moment.
He glanced down at my hands resting on his shoulders. With a gentle motion, he removed them from his grasp.
“I will not provide you with any financial assistance, Amelia. Furthermore, you are merely my fiancee, not Luna, so please adjust your perspective, he blurted out, sluggishly returning to the mattress.
His rejection stung, yet I was determined to stand my ground. “Lucas, this is absurd. I require new clothing, and I need it immediately,” I asserted, trailing behind him to the mattress.
He settled down, resuming his reading of the magazine, his expression inscrutable. “You will have to manage with what you possess, Amelia. I will not give you a single cent for the destruction of your own wardrobe.”
My eyes narrowed in response. “You find this amusing, don’t you? Watching me plead.”
Lucas’s gaze lifted, a glimmer of amusement evident in his eyes. “I am merely enjoying the spectacle, fiancee.”
I exhaled sharply, seizing the magazine from his grasp. “This is not a trivial matter, Lucas.”
In a sudden movement, Lucas rose, his face mere inches from mine. “I understand it is not a trivial matter, Amelia. However, manipulating me with feigned vulnerability will not work.”
My heart raced as our eyes met in a silent confrontation.
“Do you believe you can simply flutter your eyelashes and obtain whatever you desire?” Lucas’s voice lowered to a whisper. “Not with me.”
I bristled, my hands itching to strike him. “How dare you speak to me like that.”
Lucas’s smile was a mere line. “I dare because I know you, Amelia.”
At that moment, his gaze shifted to something behind me. “Ah, just in time.”
I turned to see his beta standing in the doorway.
“Alpha, the patriarchs have arrived,” he announced.
Lucas’s gaze never left mine. “I will join them shortly.”
As he nodded and left, Lucas’s eyes seemed to bore into my soul.
“You see, Amelia, I’ll be having a busy day today with the patriarchs so….”
“So?”
I weakly sat on the mattress, it seems my efforts are effortlessly digging me into trouble.
“Alpha Lucas. I can manage $600 thousand dollars for just my underwear, please, I need the money. I apologize for being rude,” I pleaded, my eyes blinking gently.
“No, never, you can sort your things with your money, Amelia.”
Lucas’s expression remained unyielding. “You should have thought of that before destroying your wardrobe, Amelia. Now, I have more pressing matters to attend to.”
He turned to leave, but I grasped his arm, desperation creeping into my voice.
“Lucas, please. I’ll do anything. Just give me the money.”
His gaze dropped to my hand on his arm, then back to my face. “Anything?” he repeated, his tone dripping with skepticism.
I nodded fervently. “Yes, anything.”
Lucas’s eyes seemed to gleam with amusement. “Very well. I’ll give you the money… if you can prove yourself worthy.”
My heart skipped a beat. “What do you mean?”
“I’ll give you a task,” Lucas said, his voice low and mysterious. “If you succeed, the money is yours.”
I hesitated, unsure what I was getting myself into.
“What’s the task?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Lucas’s smile was enigmatic. “You’ll find out soon enough. I will brief you later”
With that, he strode out of the room, leaving me reeling.
