Amelia pov
I couldn’t suppress a smirk as she sashayed in, reminiscent of a lizard, my gaze still fixed on the door. Seriously, what was going on with Alpha Ethan making a hasty exit just moments after Harper entered his room? I was still eavesdropping when a tap on my shoulder yanked me back to reality.
Frustration surged within me as I turned to see a frazzled worker, looking as if she had just encountered a ghost. I stood firm, giving her a look that radiated discomfort.
“What’s your problem?” I snapped, my voice low but laced with contempt. She flinched, retreating slightly, her hands clasped together as if pleading for mercy. Honestly, her trembling didn’t concern me at all.
“Ma’am Amelia, ma’am…” she stuttered, repeating “ma’am” like it was some sort of charm that would save her. She interrupted my moment, and now she was tripping over her words? I stood there, arms crossed, watching her struggle to find her voice.
At last, she managed to speak. “Alpha Lucas wants you in his chamber, and he’d like you to come with…” She hesitated, avoiding my gaze, which only intensified my irritation. In a swift motion, I grabbed her arm and pulled her closer, my anger reaching a boiling point.
I leaned in, my voice dropping to a dangerously low whisper. “Spill it, worker. What does Alpha Lucas want from me?” I could feel her trembling in my grip, but I wasn’t about to let her off easily. She gulped, her eyes darting around the room like a cornered animal searching for an escape.
“With… with Harper, ma’am,” she stammered, her voice barely audible.
I released her arm, my mind racing with wild possibilities. What on earth could Alpha Lucas want with me and Harper? My anger simmered just beneath the surface.
I snapped, turning sharply to head toward Alpha Lucas’s chamber. “Let’s just get this over with.”
What is Lucas even thinking? Does he honestly believe he can have Harper when she’s clearly off having fun with her new guy? Seriously! I’m his fiancee, and he’s acting like a complete idiot over someone who’s not even available.
With determination, I marched to Lucas’s room, my heart racing as if I were about to confront a celebrity. I swung the door open with flair, the sound echoing as I made my entrance. My eyes locked onto Lucas, and the click of my heels resonated ominously on the floor.
I took a moment to take in the scene, my gaze landing on his disheveled bed. With a playful roll of my eyes, I sauntered over, leaning against his table, arching my back just enough to catch his attention.
“What’s your problem, Lucas? You’ve got me right here, yet you’re mooning over Harper while she’s off enjoying herself with her new fling?” I challenged, raising my brows in a teasing manner.
His eyes were fixated on my chest, and I knew him too well-he’s always easily distracted by a good pair of assets. I just hope he’s not developing feelings for that worker, Harper, because if he does, she’s going to regret it.
I traced my finger along his lips, giving him a sultry look. “Hey, Amelia, whatever you’re thinking is completely wrong. I love you, okay? Harper’s just some random worker. You’re the only one for me,” he insisted, leaning in closer and pressing his lips against mine while his hands found their way to my chest. My body was on fire, eagerly waiting for him to take things further.
As his lips met mine, I sensed he was more focused on convincing himself than truly being with me. I deepened the kiss, my fingers tangling in his hair, pulling him closer. He groaned, his hands exploring my body, sending delightful shivers through me.
Just as things were heating up, a knock at the door interrupted us. Lucas pulled back, irritation evident in his eyes. “What now?” he snapped.
The door opened slowly, revealing the flustered worker from earlier, her eyes wide with alarm. “I-I’m sorry to interrupt, Alpha Lucas, but… Harper’s missing.”
Lucas’s expression darkened, his grip on my waist tightening. “What do you mean, missing?”
The worker swallowed hard. “She was supposed to meet me for a task, but she never arrived. I searched everywhere, but… she’s just gone.”
My mind raced with thoughts. Harper, the little worker, had captured Lucas’s heart, and now she was unaccounted for? This was getting more intriguing by the moment.
Lucas pushed me aside, his eyes filled with a mix of anger and concern. “Find her,” he ordered the worker. “Now.”
As the worker rushed off, Lucas turned to me, his demeanor softening. “Amelia, I need to handle this. But remember, you’re the only one I want.”
I gave him a sweet smile, my mind racing with plans. “Of course, Lucas. Go save your little worker. But don’t think for a second that I’m letting you go that easily.”
He left with a resolute nod, allowing me to bask in the drama that was unfolding. Harper, the worker who had gone missing, had unwittingly become a piece in my game of influence and allure. And believe me, I always aimed for victory.
The information I just received was absurd, prompting me to storm out of Lucas’s room. How could Harper simply disappear in a place that was supposed to be more secure than Fort Knox? I hurried down the hallway to the living room, where everyone was laughing and whispering as if they were at a stand-up show. Seriously, what’s so funny?
“Find Harper!!” Lucas’s voice thundered with authority, and I couldn’t suppress a scowl, my jaw tight with irritation.
Why is he calling out for a woman I’d prefer to see gone for good? If I happen to come across her first, I swear she’ll wish she had never crossed my path. Just wait.
