Harper pov
Standing at the door, I took a deep breath, my eyes brimming with tears that threatened to ruin my makeup.
I sniffled.
Using the hem of my shirt, I dabbed at my face, blinking rapidly as I tried to catch the tears that clung to my lashes.
“Can’t you knock? Seriously!”
Amelia’s voice jolted me from my thoughts, and I quickly knocked on the door, my heart racing.
“Al… Alpha Ethan, it’s Harper.”
“Could you speak up and stop being so strange?” I pressed my lips together, Amelia’s sharp words igniting a fire of frustration within me.
“Come in.”
The voice from inside pulled me from my thoughts, setting my mind on the impending encounter with Alpha Ethan. All I could think about was the intimacy that two adults might share in a room, a natural connection that felt almost electric. A shiver coursed through me as I pushed the door open.
As I grasped the edge of the door, I glanced back at Amelia, who was still lingering. She motioned for me to enter, but I shrugged her off, hissing under my breath.
It was unusual for me to act this way, but at that moment, I didn’t care. I slammed the door shut, only to find myself in a dimly lit room.
My heart raced with trepidation as I leaned against the door for support, feeling a chill run down my spine.
“Is anyone here? Hello?” I called out, my voice trembling with fear.
“Alpha Ethan, are you in here?”
Oh moon goddess, is this another danger I have to face today? Why must my mates be so cruel? Or is it because I… I trailed off in my thoughts as I felt a hand gently brush against my shoulder, the coldness of his touch sending a shiver through me.
“I…”
“Shh… shh… quiet, Harper… it’s just a gentle touch, okay?”
I nodded rapidly, my fingers starting to tremble. Yes, Alpha Ethan, I get it… You don’t… His head tilted against my neck, and a flurry of thoughts filled my mind-kisses. What if he kissed me? What if he made the first move?
As his breath brushed against my skin, my heart raced uncontrollably. His lips barely touched the sensitive area beneath my ear, sending delightful shivers throughout my body.
“Don’t what, Harper?” he murmured, his voice deep and sultry, his fingers gliding along the curve of my shoulder.
I swallowed hard, struggling to find my words. “You don’t have to do this, Alpha Ethan.”
His soft laughter vibrated against me. “Oh, but I want to.”
In an instant, the room was illuminated with a warm, golden glow, and I blinked to adjust to the brightness. Alpha Ethan’s face came into focus, his intense gaze locked onto mine.
“You’re shaking,” he noted, concern evident in his tone.
I nodded, feeling exposed. “I… I’m not sure what’s happening.”
His eyes drifted to my lips, and my heartbeat quickened. “Perhaps we can discover it together,” he proposed, his voice thick with allure.
My thoughts raced as I tried to make sense of the sensations flooding my body. Was this a trap, or was Alpha Ethan truly interested in me?
As he leaned in closer, his lips just a breath away from mine, I realized I was ready to embrace that uncertainty.
“Alpha Ethan,” I murmured, my voice scarcely above a whisper.
“Yes, Harper?” His breath intertwined with mine.
“What is it that you desire from me?” I inquired, my heart racing with anticipation.
His gaze was fixed on mine, ignited by an unexpressed longing. “Everything,” he murmured, before capturing my lips with his.
—
As our lips met, a surge of energy coursed through me, igniting a fire within my veins. Alpha Ethan’s kiss was commanding, fervent, and completely captivating. I felt myself surrendering to his embrace, my anxieties and uncertainties fading away with each fleeting second.
His hands explored my form, gliding over the contours of my waist, hips, and shoulders. I trembled under his caress, my skin aflame with yearning.
“Harper,” he breathed, parting our lips. “You are stunning.”
I opened my eyes to find Alpha Ethan’s gaze fixed on me, his eyes shimmering with a raw intensity.
“No,” I gasped, attempting to regain my composure. “This cannot be.”
Alpha Ethan’s grin was mischievous. “Oh, but it is already unfolding.”
He guided me into the room, his hands firmly on my body. I stumbled slightly, the sound of my heels echoing on the polished floor.
“Alpha Ethan, please stop,” I implored, my voice quivering.
However, he paid no heed. Instead, he pressed me against the wall, his body firmly against mine.
“You desire this, Harper,” he growled, his lips brushing against my ear. “I can sense it.”
My heart raced as I attempted to push him away, but he remained steadfast.
Just when I thought I might lose myself entirely, a loud knock at the door interrupted the moment.
“Alpha Ethan!” called my other supposed mate, her voice cutting through the tension. “We need to discuss your visit, Alpha.”
Alpha Ethan’s eyes flashed with irritation, yet he released me, straightening his attire.
“I’ll be there shortly,” he responded, his tone laced with annoyance.
As he prepared to leave, I grasped his arm. “Wait, Alpha Ethan! What’s going on?”
He gave me a look that conveyed nothing. “We will talk about this later.”
And with that, he was gone, leaving me in a state of bewilderment.
I exhaled dramatically. “Thank goodness for that! The idea of experiencing something so large tonight?”
“No, thank you!” I had heard it was larger than my fingers and had an appealing pink tip. But honestly, it was the thickness that truly unsettled me. Ugh, his voice cut through my tumultuous thoughts.
Let us resume from where we left off.
“What?”
