Emily’s instincts were instantly triggered when the accident almost happened. With quick reflexes, she slammed on the brakes to avoid colliding with the speeding car beside her. However, the car behind her didn’t have time to react and with a loud bang, it slammed into the back of Emily’s car. Horns sounded everywhere as Emily’s car stopped in the middle of the road.
A look of deep shock was clear on Daniel’s face as he witnessed the danger that lurked in Emily. His eyes widened, and in an instant, a wave of panic and deep worry washed over him.
“Stop the car, Richard!” Daniel hissed in a state of panic, his voice sounding calm but with an unconcealed fear amid the precarious situation.
A man inside the car behing Emily’s got out with a face full of surprise because Emily suddenly stopped her car, causing damage to the front of his car.
“Get out!” the man shouted as he knocked hard on Emily’s car.
After the car pulled over, Daniel and Richard immediately got out of their cars. Daniel hurriedly checked on Emily’s condition. Emily’s whole body was shaking. Her memory of the car accident that almost took her life scared her as she was trapped in Daniel’s body.
Meanwhile, Richard tried to calm down the man who was angry because Emily had stopped her car suddenly, causing damage to the man’s car behind her.
Daniel banged loudly on Emily’s car window, trying hard to rouse her from her reverie.
“Emily, are you okay?” asked Daniel in a voice full of worry, his eyes searching for any sign of consciousness from Emily.
“Emily!” shouted Daniel as he continued to bang on the window, panic and worry radiating from the look in his eyes.
“Daniel,” Emily muttered while looking at the panicked look on Daniel’s face outside her car.
After calming down a bit, she got out of the car with a shaking body.
“Are you okay?” asked Daniel.
“I’m fine,” Emily replied quietly, her eyes still looking surprised.
“Richard, please take care of this problem,” Daniel said as he pulled Emily’s arm roughly and brought her into the car.
After helping Emily open the car door, Daniel helped her put on the seat belt with an angry expression on his face.
“Thank you,” Emily said in a shaky voice.
Their gazes met for a moment with Daniel’s cold and sharp gaze piercing Emily before Daniel finally got out of the car. He closed the passenger door with a bang before finally sitting in the driver’s seat and driving the car.
“Do you want to die that badly?” Daniel asked in a voice full of anger.
“I’m sorry. But I didn’t realize there was another car next to me moving so fast,” Emily replied.
Daniel felt the anger rising inside him. Emily could also feel Daniel’s anger from his strong grip on the steering wheel. Daniel tried hard to contain his anger, while Emily could only remain silent, realizing her mistake that had endangered herself.
“Where are we going?” asked Emily when she saw Daniel, who kept driving without telling her the destination, but Daniel just kept quiet and didn’t answer.
After a while, Daniel’s car finally arrived in front of his residence.
“Get out,” Daniel invited.
Without much protest, Emily finally entered Daniel’s magnificent residence. Their steps seemed to echo in the elegant corridor. Daniel led Emily through the living room, that was filled with antique decorations that exuded luxury.
The housemaid, who accidentally saw Daniel’s arrival with Emily, was stunned and incredulous. How could Daniel, who had always avoided Emily, now bring her into his private study? A faint smile graced the maid’s lips.
Arriving at his office, Daniel invited Emily to sit in front of his well-organized desk full of important files. With a serious look, Daniel opened the proposal that Emily had left him the night before.
“I will read this proposal first before deciding,” Daniel said firmly.
Emily was relieved that Daniel finally responded to her request to read the proposal. Attentively, Emily watched Daniel’s facial expressions as he focused on reading each page of the proposal. After Daniel finished reading the proposal, his expression looked serious. Emily could feel the tension that hung over the room at that moment.
“There are several aspects that I need to consider more deeply before deciding. If you can convince me, I will invest in your company,” Daniel said seriously.
Daniel began asking critical questions about the business model, growth potential, and risks the company might face. Emily digested each question carefully, trying to explain as best she could and provide strong arguments to support her proposal.
They both engaged in deep conversations and meticulous analysis, seeking the best solutions to overcome any doubts and obstacles that might arise. Daniel also provided valuable feedback and constructive suggestions to strengthen the proposal.
After a long discussion, Daniel finally decided wisely. “Okay. I believe that this company has great potential to grow and develop in the future,” he said with confidence.
Emily, with hope and doubt in her eyes, asked, “Does that mean you agree to invest in our company?” her voice was full of eagerness to hear a positive answer from Daniel, while holding her breath waiting for the important decision that would affect the direction of their company.
After a few moments of silence, Daniel finally nodded his head firmly. “If there are things that need to be discussed further, you can contact Richard unless there is an urgent need,” Daniel continued.
“Really? You’ve agreed to it?” asked Emily excitedly, her expression lit up by the good news she had just received.
“Is my answer still not clear to you?” asked Daniel.
“No, of course it’s very clear. Thank you,” Emily said sincerely while giving a warm greeting with a handshake.
“In the future, I don’t want to see you chasing after me to the point of endangering your own life like earlier. It’s best that we don’t need to be in direct contact unless there is something important,” Daniel said firmly.
Emily looked at Daniel with a regretful gaze. “I’m sorry, but I did that because I wanted to chase after your car. But why did you help me earlier? Don’t you hate me so much?” asked Emily curiously.
“We’re done discussing work, Emily. If there’s nothing else to talk about, I still have other things to do,” Daniel said.
“Well, thank you for your time,” Emily said in a polite tone before standing up to leave the room.
However, before she stood up, her stomach suddenly rumbled with a rather loud sound, creating an awkward moment between the two. Emily was embarrassed and surprised, while Daniel tried to remain calm about the situation.
Daniel looked at the watch on his hand. “I still have a time. Maybe you can go with me, considering your car was still brought by Richard earlier,” he said, offering to help.
“No need. You can go first. I’ll just order a taxi,” Emily said kindly, with a smile.
“Alright, then I’ll go first,” Daniel said hurriedly, leaving the room with steady steps.
After Daniel left, Emily smacked her stomach lightly. “How could you make a sound at such an inopportune time?” she whispered in annoyance.
Emily recalled the worried look on Daniel’s face when he saved her earlier. “Why is he so worried about me? Is he really worried about me?” she whispered softly, but quickly dismissed the thought as soon as possible.
Emily stepped out of Daniel’s study, but Daniel’s housemaid suddenly held her back with great concern. “Ms. Emily, Master, told me to prepare a meal for you before he left earlier. It would be a good idea for you to eat before you leave.”
Emily politely declined the offer, but the housemaid stuck to her task. “Madam, I cannot refuse Master’s order. I’m sorry, but I have to make sure Madam eats first,” she said firmly.
With careful consideration, Emily finally followed the steps of the maid.
“Madam, can’t you two reconcile?” the maid asked with a sympathetic look on her face. “I feel sorry for Master who continues to hurt himself every night by drinking and smoking.”
