Emily’s question left Sean speechless. A few minutes ago, Daniel called and asked him to take Emily home. Daniel was worried because Emily had to go home in the heavy rain. Sean, who had just realized that Emily was at Daniel’s house, immediately stepped on the gas pedal and sped towards Daniel’s house. Jealousy gnawed at his heart.
“Sean,” called Emily, breaking his reverie.
“Yes, what’s wrong?” asked Sean.
“How did you know I was at Daniel’s house?” Emily repeated her question.
“Ah, I had an important business discussion with Daniel. But the housemaid at Daniel’s house said that you were here too,” Sean replied, lying to Emily.
“I see,” Emily replied in a flat tone.
‘I’m sorry for lying to you, Emily. I feel a little guilty for taking advantage of the situation regarding your destiny of not being able to be together. But I also feel relieved that with that fate, I have a chance to have you,’ Sean thought, his heart pounding with guilt and hope.
“It seems like you and Daniel are getting along, not like you used to,” Emily said, smiling back at the memory of Sean and Daniel not getting along.
“Ever since he fell into a coma, I’ve been feeling guilty. For some reason, I remember all the bad things I’ve done to him. In fact, he was never good to me either,” Sean replied, making Emily laugh widely.
The memory of Daniel waking up from his coma haunted Emily. She still could not understand why their souls could return at that moment. It should have been her lying in a coma in Daniel’s body because she was the one involved in the accident.
Emily also realized that their relationship had finally ended when Daniel woke up from the coma. All the truth about the murder of Daniel’s parents was finally revealed. The deepest pain destroyed Emily. Everything they had gone through, all the promises and love, ended in an instant.
“He’s always been cold,” Sean said, breaking Emily’s reverie. “But recently I’ve come to realize that his attitude can be shaped by the fact that he lost his parents at a young age.”
Upon hearing Sean’s words about Daniel’s parent, Emily tightened her grip on her bag, considering it was the biggest reason they couldn’t be together.
Sean suddenly stopped, his gaze turning sharp. “Am I allowed to know why you were at Daniel’s house?” he asked, his voice flat, but there was an unspoken tone behind his words, a question that was more than just curiosity.
Emily was silent, her gaze blank, as if she was wrestling with her own thoughts. “There’s something I need to sort out with him,” she replied, a faint smile playing on her lips, but her eyes held a secret. Sean felt a prick of disappointment in his heart.
He knew Emily was hiding something, but he didn’t want to force her to tell him the truth.

The next day, the atmosphere in the office was tense when Mr. Ryan called Emily over to him. With a serious look, Mr. Ryan asked, “Emily, how is it going? Is there any progress with Mr. Daniel?”
Emily felt her heart rate increase as she heard the question. Her eyes met Mr. Ryan’s expectant gaze. With a voice almost choked with emotion, Emily replied, “I’m sorry, sir. I will continue working to earn his trust. I promise to do my best.”
Mr. Ryan looked at Emily with a sharp gaze, searching for the truth behind her words. “So, over the past few days, you haven’t been able to convinced him?” he asked in a calm yet concerned voice.
“I’m sorry, sir. But I won’t give up,” Emily replied.
Mr. Ryan nodded, acknowledging the determination emanating from Emily. “All right, Emily. I believe in you do,” Mr. Ryan said in a supportive tone.
After leaving Mr. Ryan’s office, Emily sat at her desk, filled with confusion and worry. She stared at the date in front of her, feeling time slipping away. With only three days left and no sign of Daniel’s confidence in investing in the company, she muttered to herself, “What should I do?”
Memories of moments spent with Daniel haunted her. She felt as if she would only get hurt and experience endless rejection from him. Every word that had came from Daniel’s lips had cut deep.
Emily bit her lower lip while holding her head, contemplating the steps she needed to take to regain Daniel’s trust. After much thought, a decision finally formed in her mind. Emily decided not to give up and fight to earn Daniel’s trust.
“It looks like I have to try again. I have no other choice. I must secure the manager’s position,” Emily said with determination.
After being told by Richard about Daniel’s current position, Emily immediately drove her car to a luxury golf course on the outskirts of the city. Upon arrival, she saw Daniel playing golf with some important-looking men. Daniel appeared calm and focused on the game, engaging in occasional conversation with the men, indicating a close collaboration.
Emily decided to wait patiently. Several hours passed, and Daniel’s meeting with several important people was finally over. Beside him, there was Richard, who faithfully accompanied him. Emily, who had been waiting with a pounding heart, finally blocked Daniel’s path, her eyes filled with hope.
“Mr. Daniel,” Emily greeted with a voice full of courage. “Can we talk for a moment?”
Daniel flinched, slightly surprised to see Emily there. “How did you know I was here?” his gaze then shifted to Richard, who stood nervously beside him, as if suspecting that Richard had disclosed his wherebouts to Emily.
“Did you read the proposal I gave you last night?” asked Emily.
“Go away. I’m not interested,” Daniel replied in an indifferent tone.
Daniel attempted to evade Emily by walking away without acknowledging her. “Mr. Daniel, please. At least give me some time to explain the proposal. I have to…” Emily was interrupted as Daniel suddenly halted his steps, causing her head to bump into Daniel’s shoulder.
Daniel turned sharply, fixing a piercing gaze on Emily. “Can’t you hear? I’m not interested in investing my capital in your company,” he stated in a cold and firm voice.
“This is unfair to me. How can you just dismiss me without providing a clear reason? You keep avoiding me,” Emily said in a voice filled with frustration and disappointment.
Daniel walked away without saying another word, leaving Emily confused and speechless. Richard briefly turned to Emily, as if signaling her to be patient in dealing with Daniel’s behavior, before returning to follow Daniel.
Emily continued to pursue Daniel and Richard, matching their brisk pace ahead of her. “Mr. Daniel! You can’t treat me like this. At least give a clear reason for rejection so I can understand,” she urged.
Emily’s pursuit persisted until Daniel and Richard entered their car and drove off, leaving Emily alone. Without hesitation, Emily swiftly entered her car and began following Daniel’s departing car.
Richard smiled slightly as he saw through the rearview mirror that their car was being followed by Emily behind.
Meanwhile, Daniel massaged the middle of his furrowed eyebrows. “Drive faster or I won’t let you off the hook for revealing my location to Emily,” he hissed in a threatening tone.
“Yes, sir,” Richard responded, immediately pressing on the gas pedal to accelerate their car.
Emily continued to tail Daniel’s car from behind. “Why are they suddenly speeding up?” she murmured, watching Daniel’s car pull further away.
“I can’t lose them,” Emily whispered to herself as she pressed hard on the gas pedal, accelerating her car to catch up.
As her car picked up speed, another car suddenly appeared beside her, traveling at high speed. Emily felt her heartbeat quicken as a collision almost occured. Daniel, who was observing Emily’s car through his rearview mirror, was surprised when Emily’s car was nearly hit.
“Emily!”
