“Do you want to freeze to death sitting here?” the voice echoed again until it revealed a familiar woman.
“Mr. Daniel? How can you be here?” asked Emily with a look of surprise in her eyes.
Daniel showed her his repeatedly unanswered phone calls, making Emily immediately check her cell phone, and Daniel had contacted her several times. “Sorry, sir. I didn’t know there was an incoming call.”
“You haven’t answered my question. What are you doing here?” Daniel asked.
“I suddenly recalled my memories. That’s why I’m here,” Emily replied.
“Do you believe in the word ‘love’?” asked Emily.
“Why do you ask that?” asked Daniel.
Emily shook her head and answered Daniel’s question. “I’m just curious.”
Daniel was silent for a moment before answering, “I don’t believe.”
“I expected you to answer that,” Emily said. Daniel’s answer was like Olivia’s answer about those who don’t believe in love.
“Get up, let’s go, I don’t want to freeze to death here,” Daniel said and walked away.
Emily finally got up from the swing and stepped into the car, following Daniel.
They stopped at a restaurant close to the playground. Sitting at a quiet table, Daniel looked at Emily with a sharp gaze.
“Next time, if you want to freeze to death, don’t take my body with you. I don’t want to die yet,” Daniel said calmly as he sipped the hot coffee in front of him.
“Sorry, sir,” Emily said.
“Now tell me what happened when you met Grandpa earlier?” asked Daniel, his voice full of curiosity.
“Your Grandpa wasn’t present at the restaurant,” Emily replied, hanging her words, creating a silence that made Daniel even more curious.
“What do you mean?” asked Daniel, his eyes searching for an answer in Emily’s expression.
“Do you remember the woman we accidentally met in Thailand?” asked Emily.
Daniel seemed to pause for a moment, his eyes reflecting deep consideration. “What about that woman?”
“She was the one who came to the restaurant. It seems your grandfather wanted to set you up with her because she brought up your arranged marriage to her,” Emily explained.
Daniel clenched his hands tightly, his expression growing darker and colder.
“What should we do now, sir? I can’t possibly be married to that woman, can I? I am also a woman, even though this body belongs to you. If you really want to marry that woman, we should at least return our bodies to each other first,” Emily explained at length, trying to find a solution to the mess.
“I will not marry that woman,” Daniel argued, his voice firm and steady.
“But your grandfather planned this arranged marriage. Is it okay to go against his plan?” Emily tried to understand the increasingly complicated situation.
Daniel was silent for a moment, his eyes staring far ahead, searching for the right decision.
“That woman is beautiful, although her attitude is a bit…” Emily decided not to continue when Daniel’s sharp gaze fell on her.
“I told you I won’t marry her,” Daniel repeated his statement firmly.
“But we don’t have a solution to this problem,” Emily tried to think of a solution to help them both get out of this problem.
However, suddenly their attention was distracted by the news broadcast on the television screen in the restaurant.
“At this time, we would like to convey important information to all viewers that the city is currently being hit by a snowstorm that will last for the next few hours. The government has closed the roads to keep everyone safe. We urge everyone to remain calm and stay indoors,” the television host said in a stern voice.
Emily was shocked, realizing that they could not go home today because of the unexpected weather. Meanwhile, Emily’s cell phone suddenly rang, revealing the words ‘Dad’ on the screen.
“Sir, can you please pick up the phone? It’s from Dad,” Emily said, asking Daniel to answer the call.
Daniel took Emily’s cell phone, flipped the green switch, and activated the speaker so that Emily could also hear the conversation with Fred.
“Hello,” came Fred’s voice from the other end in a worried tone.
“Where are you now?” asked Fred with worry clearly audible in his voice.
Daniel looked at Emily for a moment before answering Fred’s question calmly, “I’m currently with a coworker. What’s wrong?”
“Have you seen the news?” asked Fred, trying to find out Daniel’s situation.
“I have. There’s no need to worry. Incidentally, my coworker’s house is close by, so I’ll be staying there tonight,” Daniel replied with confidence.
Emily looked at Daniel with a puzzled expression, not fully understanding the meaning of Daniel’s words.
“Ah, thank goodness, then. Well, I won’t disturb your time anymore. Enjoy your evening, dear,” Fred said with relief.
“Mmm,” Daniel simply cleared his throat before ending the call.
“What did you mean by saying you’re going to stay at a coworker’s house?” asked Emily, looking for a clearer explanation.
“We can’t go home under these circumstances,” Daniel explained firmly.
“That’s right,” said Emily, recognizing a reality that was hard to avoid.
Daniel massaged his furrowed mid-brow, feeling caught in the unexpected situation of having followed Emily all the way here.
“I also didn’t expect you to follow me all the way here. I’m sorry for making you worry about me and having to come here,” Emily said in a regretful tone.
“Why should I worry about you?” Daniel denied Emily’s statement firmly.
“Then why did you follow me here?” Emily asked.
“I just wanted to hear your explanation about meeting Grandpa,” Daniel replied.
“I thought you were worried because I didn’t pick up your phone earlier,” said Emily.
“Hurry and drink your drinks. We need to get out of here,” Daniel ordered in a stern voice.
After Daniel finished paying for their drinks, the two finally left the restaurant. The streets were deserted because of the snowstorm warning that had been delivered earlier. However, suddenly a man dressed all in black bumped into Emily.
“Hey, where are your eyes, young man?” the black-clad man’s voice stopped Emily in her tracks in a sharp and demanding tone.
Emily, who was surprised by the incident, looked at the black-clothed man anxiously. “Sorry, I accidentally bumped into you,” she replied in a trembling voice, swallowing hard when she saw the fearsome man’s sharp expression.
“From your appearance, it looks like you have a lot of money,” the man said, trying to wipe the suit Emily was wearing, but a small, firm hand stopped the movement.
“You hit him first. Leave us alone, get out of here,” Daniel said firmly.
“Wow, it turns out that a woman as small as you have so much guts, huh?” the man then looked Daniel up and down.
“What if you accompany me tonight as an apology because the man next to you has bumped into me?” the man said in a seductive tone.
Daniel smiled with one corner of his lips pulled up, showing firmness in his expression. With firm steps, he stepped closer to the man. “I don’t lust after ugly men like you, so step aside,” he whispered sharply right in the man’s ear.
“How dare you call me ugly? You bitch!” retorted the man in an angry tone, not accepting Daniel’s words.
The black-clad man intended to slap Daniel across the face. However, before the man’s hand reached its destination, Daniel quickly reflexively caught the man’s wrist firmly. Without hesitation and with surprising speed, he swiftly rotated the black-clad man’s hand. With a skillful movement, Daniel twisted the man’s hand backwards.
“Arrghh, damn it! You bitch! Let me go!” shouted the black-clad man in a voice full of anger and desperation, trying to break free from Daniel’s grip.
Not long after, there was the sound of a motorcycle engine rapidly approaching Emily. The sound of the loud engine caught Daniel’s attention, making him turn his head towards the source of the sound.
“Look out!” Daniel shouted in a loud voice, warning Emily of the rapidly approaching danger.
