“Grandpa.” I cried and hugged him. He patted my head and my back, while he was hugging me too.
“I’m here now. You don’t need to worry anymore.”
“I’m glad you are here, grandpa.” I pulled away from him and couldn’t take my dripping eyes off him.
“There’s blood on you. Who did this to you? Tell me who it is?”
“Grandpa.” I wiped off my tears. “Have you heard about mom, my stepfather and Aiden…and-”
“I heard about what happened, Wendy. Sorry for being late. My private investigators traced you here after I heard about what happened. That’s why I came here. You are leaving these alphas and you are coming with me.” He held my shoulders. “Right now.”
“I would…but Sihwa is-”
“Don’t worry, I will give you information regarding Sihwa’s health. But first you have to come with me. We have a lot to talk about.”
I nodded. “Thanks for coming, grandpa.”
“You are welcome, my little wolf.” He laughed.
“Where do you think you are taking her to?” Riot questioned. “She’s our mate, and you can’t take her anywhere without our permission.”
“I didn’t know the Alpha of the Bloodline pack was the grandfather of my mate.” Lykan announced with a sly laughter. “I respect you as an alpha, so let’s not bust our asses in this hospital and respect our boundaries. I know you are her grandfather, but I wouldn’t let you take her away from here. Not while we are still here.”
My grandfather grabbed my upper arm and pulled me to his side. “I may be an old man, but I still have my strength, little boy.”
“Little boy?” Lykan sniggered and burst out in laughter. He was finding this amusing, wasn’t he?
“Little boy.” Riot joined in. “I like the sound of that.”
My grandfather was a little huge and bulky, though with tattoos all over his shoulders and back.
He was just an old man in his early sixties. He didn’t exactly look like one, but he had his strength and was still the ruler of his pack.
Shoulder-length black hair, toned white skin resembling a rock-hard body in his black suit.
His clenched jaw, firm expression, and a face that wears one of the most frightening expressions I have ever seen. If I didn’t know him as my grandfather, I would have thought he was in his early thirties. My mom definitely took his eyes and his features.
Even now, I find it hard to get accustomed to seeing my grandfather like this. He was terrifying. On the inside, he was a sweet old man.
He must have looked for me after hearing what happened to Mom and my stepfather, and came over to take me away.
I miss him so much. When my mother was still married to my father, he would come over and take me out to play and have fun. He was so nice and pampered me a lot. But as soon as my mom got married to my stepdad, I rarely saw him.
Just a few phone calls and he would send gifts over to me. And he never forgets to wish me a ‘Happy Birthday’ and I think that was the reason I loved him even more and couldn’t wait to go along with him.
I was tired of staying with these alphas. They wear me out and all they just want to do is kill me.
I think it’s best if I leave and go with my grandfather. He’s the only family I have now.
I can’t risk my life staying with these alphas and none of them are remorseful about what they do. Aiden died and they are all acting as if he was never one of them.
What sort of alphas are these people?
“You are not laying your hands on my granddaughter. If you want her so much, tell Sihwa Grimwolf to meet me at the valley of the wolves.”
The valley of the wolves? Where have I heard that name before?
“Let’s go, Wendy.” He turned away from them.
“And what do you hope Sihwa would do?” Grimm grubbed his words out of my grandfather. “Fight for her? Kill you or mark her? Tell me what Sihwa would do when he meets you in the valley of the wolves. It seems to me you want to use such tactics to take her away from this hospital.”
“You have no right to question me.”
“Oh, yes, I do.” He raised his hand and pulled off his bangs and broadened his eyes.
When my grandfather saw those eyes, taken aback, still; he took a deep breath and sighed.
“If you want to claim her yourself, you can come with me.”
Come with him? What was up with this alpha? Who exactly was he for my grandfather to be taken aback by him? And how can he come with us? I don’t want to see them again.
I want to go home.
“I can decide not to come anymore. Including Sihwa. Just know one thing.” He dropped his bangs into his eyes again. “If she leaves this hospital, she’s not coming here again. She will no longer be with us. And Sihwa wouldn’t see the likes of her again. Are we clear on that?”
I will no longer be with them?
My grandfather hesitated before he answered him. “I would let Sihwa make that decision and then I will agree to it.”
Grimm gave a sluggish smile with a nod.
My grandfather motioned me to follow him as we both got out of the hospital with his bodyguards behind him.
Why did he smile like that when my grandfather mentioned Sihwa? Those alphas are frightening to stay around with. I’m glad he took me out of there. It’s just better we don’t come across each other again.
Doesn’t that feel great? But why do I feel like this isn’t over? Why did it look so easy to take me out of there?
I got into the car and we drove off as soon as the bodyguards entered an unfamiliar car behind us. My grandfather didn’t say a word and focused on looking out the window.
I wonder what he’s thinking about. I played with my fingers, feeling dizzy. I closed my eyes for a few seconds because of how exhausted I was and gave out a little sigh.
I felt a tap on my shoulder. My grandfather, who had opened the door for me, told me to come out.
I realized I had slept off the entire way.
I took his hand and came out of the car with a long yawn. I followed my grandfather inside his magnificent mansion before he left my hand and ordered the maids to help me take a proper bath, give me good food, and put me to sleep.
“Wait, grandfather, I-”
“Wendy, you need to rest. We will talk tomorrow. You look exhausted. Have some good sleep and come down for breakfast tomorrow.”
He was right. I needed to sleep, take my bath and have a good rest.
I have a lot of questions to ask him.
