“Beats me.” He stood up from his chair and faced me. “I didn’t care. I love how she is mine and hated that she belonged to all of us, too. And I wasn’t into her either. She was like a sister to me and I adored her. She wasn’t a woman, but a little sister I could cherish and take care of. I didn’t have the intention of being serious with her. All that mattered to me was being happy with everyone.”
“No! We didn’t matter to you, Gerhard. Donovan is the one who is so important to you more than everyone else.”
“What makes you think that?”
“Because you are his lover.” I blurted out, and he burst into laughter and added. “I didn’t come all the way from the US to listen to your crap.”
“But it is the truth.”
“I came here to find my mate. Not Donovan.”
“But in some ways, you want him to be yours. You guys must have been seeing each other in the US.”
“What makes you think that?” He rolled his eyes at me.
“Because I know he is married and his wife lives there with him.”
“Don’t change the topic and pull me into your stupid crappy bullshit of a story. I’m here to save Wendy and we are gonna think of how to save her. I didn’t stay here with you to wake up and talk about my life. You know nothing about it.”
“You know how it feels right to be talked down to and belittled. You said I shouldn’t pull you into my stupid crappy story, right? I’m already pulling you in, Gerhard. Wendy is my mate and I’m not letting anyone hurt her.”
“You really wanna take sides?”
“Yes.”
“Then you are gonna be an outcast for the rest of your life.”
“I don’t care.”
“As she got into you that much, you are so willing to throw everything away for her.”
“You are ready to throw everything away for Donovan.”
He shook his head and folded his arms across his chest.
“Stop putting Donovan into our conversations. Leave him out of this,” He solemnly warned.
“Just do as I say.” I said out loud and walked out of my room, ignoring Gerhard, who scoffed at my absence.
I hastily moved to Wendy’s room, but Zane stepped in front of me out of nowhere. I wonder what he was doing here and why he was here.
“Get out of my way.”
“No! I’m not getting out of the way and you know that.”
“What the fuck are you talking about?”
“Kellan had ordered everyone to not enter Wendy’s room without his permission.”
“Why? Since when does he-”
“Since the moment I walked into this duplex. I have a say in everything that happens here.” Kellan appeared out of nowhere.
“You have no right.” I snarled.
“Oh yes, I do.” He folded his arms around his chest. “And you don’t.”
“She’s only 18. Don’t ruin her -”
“Are you talking about her safety or you are worried that you wouldn’t be the first Alpha to take her virginity?”
“Don’t be crazy-”
“Oh, yes, I am.” He interrupted me. “And you don’t get to choose what to say or do around here. She’s the reason we came back home and we are going to do as we wish.”
“No, don’t.”
“Why not? Remember, you are not the only one fated to her. We all are. Including Sihwa.”
“WHAT! SIHWA?” I yelled out in shock. “She’s also Sihwa’s mate?”
“Yes.” Kellan nodded with a smile. “I thought you’d have realized it by now. How come you are so surprised that the Omega also belongs to Sihwa? Sounds fishy.”
I almost lost my balance. No! It can’t be. She can’t be with Sihwa.
That alpha is a monster.
“Get out of here.” His voice made my body shiver at his dark presence. Why does his aura smell so dark?
“Soren.” I called and looked him in the eye. “Don’t damage her. She’s innocent.”
“Too late for that. She’s already damaged.” Soren came close to me, grabbed my neck, and pushed me into the room to see Wendy.
I saw her in a dark room, in chains. Deep cuts, burns and bruises were on her body. Her hair soaked with blood and dirt sucked up her hair.
Soren dragged me out of the room and shut the door behind him, and pushed me to the ground.
“Get dressed immediately, stupid. We’ve got some important matters to attend to and you better don’t ruin it.”
I couldn’t believe my eyes. Wendy was actually in that horrifying state?
What the heck?
“Gerhard, take him to his room and never let him outside, until I say so.”
“Yes, Alpha Soren.”
Gerhard pulled me to my feet and dragged me to my room. He made me sit on my bed and heaved a deep sigh.
“I didn’t want you to see her in that state.” I fixed my gaze on him and asked. “Where were you when they put her in such a terrible state?” I yelled at him.
“What about you too, you piece of shit? You were busy snoring all day after you blacked out.”
Gerhard’s eyes were welling up as he furiously turned away from me and sat down in front of me.
I know he didn’t like what was happening and he was trying so hard to push it in.
“You’ve grown in such a short time, I couldn’t recognize you.” I looked down at my shaky hands and gasped.
I felt choked and held my neck with both hands to keep myself from collapsing. A crushing wave of dread overwhelms me.
My heart races, pounding so hard it feels like it might burst from my chest.
I can’t catch my breath. Every inhale is shallow and rapid, as if there isn’t enough air in the room.
“Aiden.” Gerhard’s voice echoed in my head.
He brought a carton to my mouth and held my head.
I feel dizzy, like the world is spinning around me, and there’s a tingling sensation in my fingers and toes.
“Breath in and out.” He yelled. I did as he instructed for about 5 minutes and finally calmed down.
“I can’t believe you are having a panic attack over this issue.”
“I felt like dying.” I confessed and took the cartoon out of my mouth.
“You are truly in love with her.” Gerhard stated and took the carton away from me.
“You’ve always known about my feelings for her. Should I act surprised?”
