Book:The Clawless Luna Wants Rejection Published:2024-11-1

The growing sense of unease accompanied Mireya on her journey to her private residence. All the way her mind was filled with confusion and questions. She could not stop thinking about the strange things that were happening with Usher, and she was not sure if it was an effect of the tea she always gave him. At least Usher was less submissive to her than usual. Instead, he seemed intent on attacking her.
It was not just that the vase almost hit her head; Mireya also experienced another attack from Usher. When she was caught off guard earlier, Usher suddenly grabbed her by the throat. She could not breathe, and fortunately Greisy was quick to intervene.
Greisy immediately called some guards who happened to be on duty outside Usher’s room. They quickly restrained Usher, and Mireya ordered them to tie Usher to the bed.
It was a truly unexpected incident. Just remembering it made her shudder. Usher’s look when he looked at her was a promise of death.
Mireya closed her eyes for a moment and tried to calm herself. “Whatever Usher is planning now, I’m not afraid at all. After all, he has no power now. He’s alone and powerless.”
Arriving at her private residence, Mireya did not wait long for Torin’s arrival. About ten minutes later, Torin arrived and they immediately discussed their next plan.
Mireya rubbed her neck with a puzzled expression. “Something is happening to Usher. I have a bad feeling, Torin. What do you think? Can we attack the Frostholm Pack’s palace soon? According to my observations, this would be the best time. We shouldn’t let Cora and the others attack us first.”
Mireya recounted everything that had happened at the Frostholm Pack’s Palace that day. Starting with the High Court, the deaths of Garth and Jemma, the battle, and the confused state of Usher.
Torin listened carefully to Mireya’s story and felt the same confusion. “Is it possible that Willow’s magic no longer works on Usher? Could it be because of the medicine Garth gave him?”
“I’m not sure,” Mireya said quietly. Her smooth brow furrowed slightly. “The other day I gave Usher the tea right after Garth gave him the medicine. After that, Usher became submissive again. But it’s different now. I don’t know why my influence on him seems to have disappeared. Especially since Willow’s tea no longer affects him. I’m afraid I might have missed something here.”
“Relax, Mireya. I think everything will be fine. You’re worrying too much,” Torin reassured her. He reached for Mireya’s hand, caressed it gently and planted a kiss on her slender fingers. “I think it’s just a sign that Usher is becoming immune to Willow’s tea. Besides, he’s an Alpha, so it makes sense that his body and soul would begin to resist the magic.”
Mireya was silent for a moment. Torin’s words seemed to make sense. “Not only that, Torin. The appearance of the man in the High Court today makes me even more worried. Yes, his appearance also has a positive effect on us. At least we know that Usher is not the man I suspected all along. They are different people, but it seems the man is going to be our stumbling block. He saved Vione and Ayla. So, I think we really must hurry. If Cora and the others end up working with the man, I think our position will be threatened. My intuition is really bad when it comes to the man. He…” She paused and took a breath. “… has tremendous strength, Torin.”
There was silence for a moment. Torin considered Mireya’s words carefully and meticulously. Finally, he nodded. “Alright. If that’s what you think, then that’s what we’ll do.”
Mireya blinked. “What do you mean, Torin?”
“We’re going to attack the Frostholm Pack’s Palace soon.”
Mireya’s eyes widened, sparkling with excitement. “Really? Are you serious?”
“Of course I mean it,” Torin replied with a smile. He looked at Mireya intensely. “The warriors of the Nimbria Pack are very ready for a big battle, and I’m sure we will win this battle easily.”
Without betas, gammas, warrior leaders and guard leaders. There was only one miserable Alpha. The Frostholm Pack was like a paralyzed, terrifying predator.
Mireya and Torin had come to an agreement. They didn’t want to lose the momentum while the Frostholm Pack was helpless. As for Mireya, there was a more personal reason why she hoped the Nimbria Pack could attack soon. It was because she was tired of being at Usher’s side. Like any woman, her desire was to enjoy happiness with her beloved husband and son.
As time passed, Mireya left her private residence about ten minutes before midnight. She drove at a steady speed, and her destination was not the Frostholm Pack’s palace, but the forest not far from her private residence. There was something she had to do before returning to the Frostholm Pack’s manor, and that was to meet Willow.
“Hello, Willow. I hope I’m not interrupting your evening rest.”
Willow was silent for a moment, looking at Mireya standing in front of her house. Obviously, this was an unexpected visit for her.
Willow took a deep breath. “Not at all, Mireya. Please come in.”
“Thank you.” Mireya entered without hesitation. She sat down on the sofa and when Willow sat down as well, she spoke immediately without beating around the bush. “I need a stronger potion than your tea, Willow.”
Willow’s wrinkled face seemed to change. “What do you mean, Mireya?”
Mireya then told what had happened to Usher that day. Willow’s eyes widened when she heard that Usher had lost control and almost hurt Mireya. She shook her head several times.
“It’s impossible for Usher to lose control like that.”
Mireya rolled her eyes lazily. “There’s no point in lying, Willow. Now, can I have the potion?”
Willow’s face changed even more. This time, too, her body seemed stiff. Heavily, she replied, “I think we should stop this, Mireya.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean Usher has been using my potion for too long. I’m afraid that if we give him another potion, his life will be in danger,” Willow said with a trembling voice. She seemed hesitant. “Usher’s body and soul may not be able to withstand it, Mireya. He could die.”
“Die?” Mireya repeated the one word with shining eyes. A grin appeared on her beautiful face. “Isn’t that a good thing?”
Willow froze. There were no more words to say. Mireya’s answer and her expression answered all her doubts. Mireya really wanted the worst for Usher.
“It seems it’s time for Usher to leave this world forever.”
