Ulric’s tone was so intimidating that even his long-time friend Johnny was frightened by his demeanor.
“She… her mother passed away…”
Ulric suddenly stood up from his chair. “When did this happen?”
“It’s been a while…” Johnny didn’t dare to lie to him, so he spoke ambiguously to avoid Ulric digging deeper into the truth.
In fact, although Johnny hadn’t been involved in Rosalind’s mother’s death, he had some guesses about it.
He didn’t intentionally hide it from Ulric, but… after all, the opposing party was his biological mother! Even if Ulric knew, what could he do? Besides endless regret and guilt towards Rosalind, there was nothing else he could do. It was better for him not to know anything.
“How did you find out about this?” Ulric immediately sensed something was off.

Rosalind’s mother must have died around the time she left four years ago! Before she left W Group, maybe even before she mentioned divorce to him.
“I ran into Rosalind, and she told me! She asked me not to tell you. I didn’t think it was a big deal, so I didn’t mention it.” Johnny shrank his neck, afraid of saying anything else that might expose his lie. “Uh… I have something to do! I’ll go now. Don’t overthink it. After all, Rosalind gave up on you first. Her mother’s situation wasn’t your fault. Why worry so much?”
With that, he dashed off as if afraid someone might chase him.
Ulric furrowed his thick brows and immediately took out his phone to call Cedric.
“Check on Rosalind-”
“Mr. Walters,” Cedric interrupted, “Taylor is fine. She can be discharged after another night of observation. She has two men taking care of her. One is a mixed-race guy who seems to be a company manager named Lion. The other is Mr. Wong from their company. I’ve instructed severe punishment for the assailant; he won’t be out for at least a year or two.”
“…” Cedric’s detailed response left Ulric speechless.
It turned out everyone knew…
He couldn’t truly give up on Rosalind or ignore her!
Even after repeatedly telling Cedric to stop investigating, Cedric still kept track of her recent activities.
You couldn’t just say he was overly curious…
“That’s not what I wanted to ask.”
“Mr. Walters, I checked. Those two men are just Taylor’s colleagues who take good care of her because of her hardworking attitude. They have no personal relationship outside of work.”
“That’s not what I wanted to ask either!” Ulric’s thick brows furrowed again before suddenly relaxing his shoulders. “Forget it. You don’t need to check on her anymore. I don’t want to know her activities.”
Cedric paused for a few seconds before saying, “What about her friend, the one named Tilda?”
“…”
“It seems she got married and had children. To be precise, it’s unclear if she’s married, but she has a daughter. She took her to visit Taylor today! The hospital gave me a surveillance video. Do you want to see it?”
