Before it could reach Ulric’s hand, he withdrew his gaze.
“No need.”
Originally, he didn’t want to remember anything that happened during this trip to Wayer City. Since he had made the decision, he would forget everything, including that little girl.
Watching his departing figure, the receptionist let out a long sigh.
“Sigh… I should have been braver and asked if he was single!”
After getting into the car, Ulric kept his head down, reviewing the project contract sent by the company. Recently, there had been some issues with the branch office. The acting CEO was involved in a scandal with compromising photos of him and his female secretary, causing the stock price to plummet. The investment projects connected to it were also left in limbo, needing someone to clean up the mess.
At the airport, Cedric called, “Mr. Walters, do you mean to temporarily replace the CEO or…”
“He disregarded the company’s image and did such a thing. He might even face criminal charges. W Group can’t use someone with such a stain.”
“Who do you have in mind to take over the position?”
This position, though titled acting CEO, was actually a hot potato! Unless someone had the ability to turn things around immediately upon taking office, all previous efforts would be wasted, and they would also face accountability from W Group’s headquarters.
Mr. Walters thought for a moment, his thin lips moving slightly, “His wife was a formidable leader before she retired to focus on her family. You should communicate with her.”
“But she’s going through a divorce.”

“Okay.” Ulric raised his hand to rub his temples. “No one knows about my return to the country, right?”

“You don’t have to refuse them all. Accept some and find opportunities to return the favor.”
“Understood.”
After hanging up the phone, Ulric put his mobile away.
He intended to close his eyes for a short nap but somehow began to think of that little girl’s face! He had left in such a hurry that he hadn’t personally given her the five dollars and candy, nor did he even know her name.
Frowning slightly, he sent Cedric a text message.
[Are you going on a business trip to Wayer City in the next few days?]
[Yes, the resort project is starting construction.]

He felt… he just wanted to forget Rosalind; it had nothing to do with anyone else! That little girl and he had some connection; at least knowing her name would be nice.
