Jakes POV
That was certainly Nora, I have no doubt..
But why does she look so different and so beautiful ? is she back from Paris ?
That can’t be, Emma had pointed she had made sure everyone lost contact with her.
She can’t show her face here after all that happened.
But what if she’s the one ?
Not what if, that has to be Nora.. I’m not mistaken, that’s definitely her.
Jolting me from my thoughts, “Sir we’re already an hour late we have to look for Lady B.”
“Yeah Lady B, do you have a picture of her so we could identity her ?” I asked scanning around for any young lady that could pass of as a CEO.
“No I don’t sir,..”
“So how are we to know who we’re looking for ?”
Her voice sounding irritated,”That’s why we’re supposed to have arrived before the plane landed, but now this cardboard reading her name is useless cause she could be anywhere in this airport..” she said angrily.
With a stern look,”Hey look at me.., you might be my father’s secretary but I’m still superior to you in every aspect, mind your tone or else.” I added the last part pointing my finger at her.
She didn’t flinch or show any sign of fear, she’s always full of herself thinking no one can trample on her just because she has my father’s backing.
I regret ever evening thinking of asking her out, probably that’s why she has no respect for me.
I’m just looking for the perfect opportunity to teach her a lesson, unfortunately she’s always under my father’s protection.
“Don’t just stand there and look at me, go around and look for the so called lady B, I don’t have all day to spend here.”
“I recall your Dad saying you should go and pick Lady B, while I assist you. So why should you be sitting around idle, whereas me who is supposed to be assisting you is going around looking for her. If you hadn’t stopped by to have chit chat with your girlfriend we would have arrived earlier, so don’t even think you can boss me around.”
My anger flared immediately and my hand flew to her cheek holding it against her mouth tightly, not even minding my surrounding, “don’t you dare ever talk to me in that manner again, and just so you know, she’s my fiancee. The next time you let your mouth run again, I’ll make sure you don’t have enough teeth to tell the story.”
Passerbys stopped to see what was going on, it was at that point I realized I was in public.
I quickly removed my hand from her cheek rubbing on it lightly, “there seem to have been something stuck there, I’ll help you clean it off,” I said smiling at her, waving off those that had previously stood to watch.
Immediately the little crowded dispersed, she eyed me disgustingly and left, not even bothering to take the car with me.
Unsure of what else to do I got in my car and drove home.
I’m very certain my dad will have a lot of things to say regarding this, but that’ll be an issue for later.
My mind drifted back to Nora again. If that’s really her, I can’t take my thoughts from how much she’s changed. Gone was the petite, slender girl I once knew. Now, her curves tantalized me, softening her sharp edges. The black blazer and trousers hugged her in all the right places, and that new hairstyle… it framed her face, illuminating her features. I couldn’t look away, and her smile, I could forget every other details about her, but definitely not her smile.
Picking up my phone, I decided to call Emma, she should know better, after all it’s her sister. I have to confirm I’m not actually hallucinating.
“Hey baby. Where are you right now ?”
Her voice reduced seductively”Missing me already ?”
The sound of her voice immediately made me forget what I was so worried about.
“Of course baby, always.”
“Alright then, you’ve got me all to yourself, meet me home in fifteen minutes.” She said sweetly.
I matched on my gas zooming off immediately.
Nora’s POV
We arrived at the house, a duplex. I had specified I wanted somewhere private and I wasn’t disappointed. I rang the bell, and the gate swung open with a soft creak. A security man stepped out.
“Welcome, Ma’am. We’ve been expecting you,” he greeted with a nod.
An elderly man, dressed in a crisp uniform, approached. His name tag read “Jenkins.” “I’ll be your butler during your stay here ma’am.”
The maids filed out to collect our luggage. One of them, wearing a hijab, gently took my handbag from me.
“I’ll help you with that, ma’am,” she murmured.
I smiled, grateful.
They led us into the house. The compound was a bit dark, but the environment felt perfect. Three sleek cars were parked outside, and the building’s elegant architecture caught my eye.
Inside, marble floors gleamed beneath our feet, and chandeliers hung from the ceiling. A sweeping staircase curved upward.
Jenkins gestured for us to follow. “Your quarters, ma’am.”
Mia’s eyes widened as she took in the appearance of her surroundings. “Wow, Mummy, this is beautiful!”
Jenkins smiled. “I’m glad you like it. Dinner will be served at 7 pm. Shall I have it brought up to your room?”
I nodded. “Thanks.”
Mia yawned. “I’m tired, Mummy.”
“Let’s get you both to bed sweetheart,” I replied.
“Where’s their room please?” I asked turning to the butler as we make our way out of my room.
“Just opposite yours ma’am.”
“Thank you very much Jenkins, I’ll take it from here.”
He nodded, bowed lightly and left.
As I tucked them in, Mason asked, “Mummy, how long will we be staying?”
Pulling the blanket over him,”I don’t know sweetheart, don’t you like it here ?”
“I do.” Mason nodded, already half asleep.
I kissed them goodnight and headed downstairs.
My phone buzzed. Juliette.
“Ma’am, how was the welcome?” Juliette asked.
“Complicated,” I replied.
“What happened?” Juliette’s voice turned serious.
“They didn’t show up, or rather they kept us waiting so I left.” I said, my voice barely above a whisper.
“Oh no, I’m sorry about that ma’am.” Juliette replied.
“It’s fine.”
“Was the house to your taste ?”
“Is just perfect..”
“I know you insisted on me not coming along but I can’t help but worry about you.”
“I understand Juliette, but I need an eye there in Paris and I can’t think of anyone else better than you to do that..”
“Thanks for your confidence in me ma’am, I won’t disappoint you.”
The call with Juliette ended with me giving her series of instructions, she sent down my schedule and on it said I have to go to the Blue Enterprise tomorrow.
Walking down the hall to my room I saw the maid with an hijab again.
She bowed lightly and passed me. I looked at her, and just then an idea crossed my mind.
There was no way Raymond or anyone else who actually knew me won’t recognize me, even with the hair and makeup transformation.
But what if they don’t see my face ?
They won’t be able to tell it’s me if my face is actually covered.
Turning back I quickly ran after her, “hello please excuse me…
