Soon, Tom Fritz appeared at the corner of the stairs. He was tall and had a refined demeanor, with a calm and distant expression that gave off an air of a gentleman. This deeply attracted Lisa’s attention, matching the image she had in her mind.
Mrs. Fritz looked at her beloved grandson with a kind smile, her entire being seeming more radiant. Tom Fritz slightly turned his head; his eyes were only on his grandmother, completely ignoring the quiet girl sitting beside her.
“Hello, Grandma.” Tom Fritz greeted as he approached the elderly woman.
From the moment he appeared at the corner of the stairs, Lisa’s gaze never left him, filled with joy and admiration. Especially when he stood in front of his grandmother, her heartbeat quickened even more.
Throughout, Tom Fritz deliberately ignored the girl, not even glancing at her from the corner of his eye.
“Come, come, Tom, sit down,” his grandmother lovingly pulled him to sit beside her. A servant poured tea.
“Tom, let me introduce you,” she said, pulling the girl’s hand with a smile. “This is Lisa. You’ve seen her profile; isn’t she prettier in person?”
As she spoke, she placed their hands together as if entrusting them to each other. At that moment, Lisa sweetly said, “Hello, Tom.”
Tom Fritz instinctively withdrew his hand and only briefly met her gaze for half a second. His coldness and resistance made Lisa even more interested in him. Having seen many enthusiastic and proactive boys, he seemed all the more special.
She didn’t mind at all; people who do research often have peculiar personalities. She could accept it, understand it, and endure it.
Sensing the awkward atmosphere, Grandma decided to leave some time for the young people. She said to Tom Fritz, “Tom, why don’t you take Lisa around the manor to get familiar with the environment?”
Lisa hoped he wouldn’t refuse and didn’t want to waste this opportunity for one-on-one interaction. She stood up with a smile and said, “Thank you, Grandma. You are so considerate, worrying that I might not be used to the unfamiliar environment.”
Then she looked gently at the man sitting beside Grandma and said softly, “Thank you for your trouble, Tom.”
Everyone’s eyes were on Tom Fritz. He took a deep breath and looked at his father and mother before glancing at his hopeful grandmother. He thought it might be good to find an opportunity to clarify his stance with her.
So Tom stood up. This made Lisa extremely happy!
“Lisa, this way please,” Tom Fritz said warmly as he looked at her. “I’ll show you around the yard first.”
“Okay,” she agreed readily and followed him outside.
Fritz Manor was well-known in Arkpool City for its vast area and unique architectural style. Most importantly, it was a gift from Williams to Jane-a place with a touching love story. Jane loved roses, so Williams planted various roses throughout the manor. They were each other’s first love and had been together for nearly 40 years-a celebrated story in their circle.
Following him out of the living room and walking beside him, Lisa kept a sweet smile on her face. Her behavior was particularly graceful; she didn’t even break the silence proactively. She knew girls should be reserved despite her uncontrollable affection for him.
She wanted to share how he had occupied her thoughts these past days.
