NOVA’S POV
A month has already passed since the incident with the rogue leader who unfortunately turned out to be Elder Bighana. I haven’t gotten over the incident and Prescott did little to nothing to make me get over the incident.
Every action he took, every word he uttered and his sudden possessive act reminded me of that horrible incident that happened to me a month ago. Even though not everyone in the Villa knew about the incident, he wouldn’t stop to draw the line between me and every soul who reside in the Villa.
‘How dare you let the Queen leave the Villa on her own?’
‘Where were you when the Queen entered the kitchen?’
‘Have the meal tested for poison before you set the table for the Queen.’ his words to the royal guards echoed through my mind and I shook my head, not thinking I would ever understand the way he thinks.
Don’t do this, don’t go there alone, don’t get involved in any activities. I’d already got tired but can I complain when he was doing all that to keep me safe?
My footsteps quickened and my face hardened with fake anger as I walked down the hallway that leads to the King’s office, with Rezso and two other royal guards trailing behind me.
Seriously? Rezso had his coming-out ceremony with Dixon, the head warrior the previous evening and he wouldn’t let the guy off work to enjoy the company of his partner. What sort of a person is Prescott, anyway?
“Her Majesty the Queen is here.” the door guard announced to no one in particular before pushing the door open for me.
I turned around, staring at Rezso who kept giving me a wide grin since this morning. “Stop smiling before your Boyfriend comes for me.” I joked.
The truth is, Dixon was a second version of Prescott. He’s way too overprotective of Rezso that one would think Rezso wasn’t a man himself.
“Don’t worry, my man is currently out of the Villa.” Rezso chuckled, his hand went to his head, brushing his hair to the back. “His Majesty happened to have a task for him, so don’t be afraid to hit on me as much as you want.”
“I would rather have my maid do that. Not like you’re going to risk giving her the eyes anyways.” I rolled my eyes. Rezso pressed his mouth into a thin line, obviously fighting back the urge to laugh at what I had just said.
I never thought Rezso was into guys, considering the first time I met him when I was wandering in the garden like a lone wolf with nowhere in mind to go. How he joked with me, and how he made me feel at peace. I never would have thought a guy like him would choose Dick over pussy.
Not like I was against his same-gender relationship, I was only surprised when he broke the news to me by mistake when he came to visit me, together with Shayna after the incident.
Rezso was such a nice guy and I was more than happy that his partner wasn’t a bad person either. Dixon would do anything for Rezso, and that’s such a relief.
“Your Majesty?” Rezso cleared his throat, jolting me out of my thoughts. I raised my brows, wondering what he was calling me for.
“Aren’t you going in?” A sly smirk crept up his face as he pointed at the opened door.
I bit my lip, realizing he had just caught me lost in thought while staring at him. “Whatever. I’m going in!”
“I assume.” he cleared his throat, chuckling as he tried to hold back his laughter.
I shot him a deadly glare before turning around and entered into the office. The guard closed the door behind me and I heaved a sigh of relief.
The only time I was left alone without any guards was when I was with Prescott, and by being with Prescott, there’s no huge difference between being with him and being stuck with a bunch of royal guards. They wouldn’t let me do anything.
“You’re already here?” Prescott’s voice boomed from the other side of the office, sounding both husky and lovely.
He was at the study, the only place you would meet him when you came into his office. He seemed to have more paperwork to do since he had practically taken everything from the elders, saying he didn’t know which one of them might turn out to be like Elder Bighana.
The incident left a hole in his heart, a hole I was afraid nothing in the world would fill. The trust Prescott had in Elder Bighana was so great that it hurt to know the man was an enemy.
“Yeah, your Majesty the King.” I chuckled, staring at Prescott as he signed some documents with funky glasses hung around his nose.
“Didn’t know you would drop by so early this morning.” he blurted out, he raised his head for a second to stare at me. After taking in my appearance he nodded in satisfaction before dropping his gaze back to the documents.
“Don’t act as if you don’t know I’m on my way here.” I rolled my eyes, pushing my way towards the settee in the middle of his spacious office room.
The sound of rustling papers filled the air and then the sound of a palm smacking on the table caught my attention. Seemed like the King’s tired of sitting behind his desk, going through countless paperwork but didn’t seem like he had a choice.
“I heard you were done having breakfast with the family about an hour ago, where did you go after breakfast?” he groaned, even anyone who hadn’t seen him before would know that the King was tired and needed some rest.
A sly smile tugged at the corner of my lips as I slipped my foot out of the heels and placed my legs on the table.
“I got a letter from my father, my sister gave birth and I’m here to inform you that I’ll be going to see my family.” my ear twitched, and I found myself spinning my head to look at him when the sound of the rustling papers suddenly stopped.
“What time?” Prescott’s eyebrows slightly raised, his head raised to concentrate on me. It seemed like he had been considering escaping the four walls of his office and only needed someone to motivate him.
“Now.” I smiled, pressing my foot until my finger brushed against the missing toe on my foot. “I’m leaving for Blue Moon pack, now!”
Prescott let out a huge smile, the smile I had missed so much for the past three days. “Then let’s go together.”
He slammed his fist on the desk before springing up from his seat. I smiled at his childish act. The King whom the whole nation relied on was acting like a child who got his favourite candy, just at the mere thought of escaping the nation’s matters.
Oh, I so much pity the lives of our people.
Within a wink of an eye, Prescott sped towards me and swept me off the couch, cradling me in his large arm.
“Please get me out of here, those paperwork works are after my life,” he grumbled and I chuckled.
My head went to his chest and I hid my head in his large chest to hide my laughter but something else caught my attention. I lifted my head to stare at my husband.
“It’s today,” I announced, jumping out of his arms. I straightened on my feet while Prescott gave me a questioning stare with his brow raised. “Wharton is proposing to Ulrica today and we haven’t gotten the ring ready.”
Prescott’s face lit up in an embarrassing smile. “Holy… Heavens!” he exclaimed, grabbing his car key off the table.
“If you don’t want Wharton to chop off your husband’s head, we better head to the store before he gets here to retrieve the ring.” he chuckled and I found myself laughing at his silly joke.
Okay, I think Prescott’s head is indeed going to be off his neck because the door opened and royal Beta Wharton stepped in, looking all nervous like a teenage boy who’s about to confess his love for his crush.
