Nova’s POV
Prescott cleared the table, after he had done feeding me the meals that were brought by Anika, he grabbed the tray and took it to Anika who was waiting behind the door.
Walking back to the bed with his eyes on me, I didn’t say anything as he swept me off the bed, holding me tightly to his chest as he strolled towards the bathroom.
Every things happen for a reason as they said. But I didn’t know what to feel about my encounter with Eruba. I didn’t know what to think about the things I saw and I heard from there. It was as if I had gone dumb as I held tightly onto Prescott as he held me in his arms.
I could hear my heart thumping hard in my chest as he entered the bathroom, and carefully placed me down in the bathtub. The warm water felt like heaven, the thought of being back to the Villa, back to my home brought tears to my eyes.
Elder Bighana had said I was going to die the next day, and the thought of him, being the one that would face his demise, right in the hands of his granddaughter made me wonder how odd our fate had changed.
“What’s the matter?” Prescott asked, his voice soft and concerned. He knelt beside the bathtub, searching my face for a sign of what was wrong. He could see that something was troubling me, and his eyes were full of worry and compassion. I hesitated, not sure how to answer him.
I opened my mouth, but no words came out. I was lost for words, unsure of how to explain my emotions.
“I know you’ve been through so much, and I know you must still be reeling from it all,” he said, his voice gentle and reassuring. “But I want you to know that you’re safe now. I won’t let anything bad happen to you, I promise. I’ll do everything in my power to keep you safe and happy.” He took my hand in his and pressed a soft kiss against my skin. It was a sweet, reassuring gesture, and I felt a little bit of my anxiety ease at his touch.
“Please, just take your mind off the trouble that’s weighing in your heart, this is your home and I’m right here with you, no one will take you away from me. I will never leave you alone again, you’re safe, safe from every trouble.” he smiled, his smile was everything that I needed at that moment.
He grabbed a shampoo and started washing my hair, before moving to wash my body afterwards. After spending a quantity of time in the bathroom, Prescott pulled me up from the bathtub and carried me back to the bedroom, I laid still in his arm, enjoying his sweet pheromones.
He placed me gently on the chair, before going to fetch my nighties. After drying my hair and tucked myself into a purple nightwear. He carried me to the bed and laid me gently on the bed, he made to turn to leave when I grabbed his hand.
“W-Where are you going?” that was the first thing I would say to him since we got back to the Villa, Prescott smiled, he gently grabbed my hand and placed it on his palm, running his thumb on my palm.
“I want to switch off the light, I’m not going anywhere.” he smiled, and I shook my head, not wanting to be in the dark after staying in darkness for days.
“Please leave the light on,” I begged, my heart was racing in my chest at the thought of someone like Elder Bighana might entered into the room and taking out a piece of my body again. “I want the light on.”
Prescott smiled, his smile seemed sad. “Okay, let’s leave it on.”
He climbed into bed next to me, wrapping his arms around me in a comforting embrace. He rested his chin on my head, breathing in the scent of my hair. “I’m so sorry for everything that’s happened to you,” he murmured. “I never meant for you to get caught up in all of this. I feel like it’s my fault, and I’m so sorry.” His voice was thick with emotion, and I could feel his body shaking slightly with the force of his feelings.
I closed my eyes, letting myself be comforted by his presence.
“It wasn’t your fault,” I said softly, turning to face him. “None of this was your fault. Please don’t blame yourself. I don’t blame you, and I never will.” I looked into his eyes, hoping he would see the sincerity of my words. He was the last person who deserved to feel guilty. He had done everything he could to protect me, and I knew that.
He held me close, and I could feel his body relaxing as he accepted my words.
“Thank you,” he whispered, and I could hear the relief in his voice. “And I’m so sorry.” He brushed a soft kiss against my forehead, and I felt my heart swell with affection for him. He wrapped his arms around me, holding me close against his chest, and I could feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat against my ear. It was a comforting sound, and I relaxed into his embrace.
“I love you,” he said, his voice thick with emotion. “I love you more than anything in the world. I would be lost without you, and I would die if anything ever happened to you again.” His voice broke, and he sniffed, trying to hold back the tears that were threatening to fall. I felt my own eyes sting with tears, and I pulled him closer to me.
We lay there, holding each other tightly, and I knew that no matter what happened in the future, we would always have each other.
“I love you, too,” I cried, holding him even tighter. “When I thought I was going to die without seeing you for the last time, l was so sad and hopeless. I felt like my whole world was ending. I was so scared, so hopeless. I never want to feel that way again.” I buried my face in his chest, trying to hold back the sobs that were shaking my body.
He rubbed my back, soothing me with gentle circles. “I’m here now,” he whispered. “I’m right here with you, no one will take you away again. I love you so much.” he caress my hair while running his other hand on my back. The feeling was so pure that I felt safe in his embrace.
“Thank you for saving me,” I mumbled, my eyelids growing heavy as sleep overtook me. I let myself drift off, comforted by the knowledge that I was safe. Safe in his embrace.
