Nova’s POV
The chiming of the bell woke me up from my slumber, hoping to the goddess it was his Majesty that was at the door. After staying awake all night, in the King’s hall, waiting for the man who never come back home.
I raised my head, staring at the wall clock to see that it was already 6:30 a. m., in the morning.
I rolled out of the king size bed and hurriedly slid my feet into the flip-flop. I tried to calm my self but my heart was throbbing with joy.
“Finally, his Majesty is here! I will finally get to explain myself to him!” I exclaimed as I raced to get the door.
My hand curled around the doorknob, I took a deep breath before twisting the door open. I gulped down nervously as I opened the door for him, my eyes shut on its own as I opened the door wild.
“Good morning, your Highness!” Instead of the baritone voice of his Majesty, I heard the cheerful voice of Anika and I flung my eyes opened as realization dawned on me.
My eyes widened in both disappointment and shock as I saw Anika standing before me with another two ladies at her back.
“Anika? What are you doing here?” I asked in a whisper, my eyes moved from Anika to the other ladies who had their gaze fixed to the floor.
I never asked for the presence of the maids, why then was the head maid here, so early in the morning, ruining my excitement of seeing the King.
“We are here to get you dress for office!” she smiled, her cheeks moved up as she flashed me a stunning smile.
“Office?” I asked, my brows raised as I stared at her, confusion was clearly written on my face. “What office?”
“Here,” she looked at her back and grabbed a scroll from one of the ladies, “Your resumption to the office of exec as been stamped by the ex-elders and his Majesty himself.” she announced, handling the scroll over to me.
“You are expected to resume the office today, and I am here to dress your Highness up on your first day at the office.” she added, smiling as she watched me read through the scroll with my eyes widened in total bewildered.
To say I didn’t remember the elders telling me about how I would be working alongside his Majesty would be a lie. But I never thought Prescott would be willing to give give out an exec office for me since we had never for once talk about it.
Wrinkles could be clearly seen on my forehead as I glared hard at the scroll in my hand.
“This is unbelievable!” I exclaimed, tossing the scroll back at Anika who caught it in the air like a pro.
“I can’t believe him.” I shook my head as I made my way back to the bed which seemed to be calling me back to sleep.
“Your Highness!” Anika gasped in shock when she saw me plunging back to bed. “You’re not going to skip your first day at the office, are you?” her worried yell echoed through the room. I held my ears in both palms, trying to block her loud voice from breaking into my ears.
I groaned when her voice wouldn’t let me sleep. “Stop already, please!” I cried out, rolling out of the bed with my feet on the cold floor.
“You can’t be late on your first day, Your Highness!” Anika chuckled and grabbed my hand before pulling me towards the bathroom.
“What the hell! You’re not bathing me, are you?” I yelled, slapping her hands off.
“Please, Your Highness, allow me to do my job!” Anika protested, grabbing my hand tightly and pushing me inside the bathroom.
“I swear to the goddess, I’ll make sure you lose your job if you step foot into this bathroom.” I threatened, pointing a finger at her face.
Anika moved back after giving me a creepy smile.
“Good!” I smirked to myself before shutting down the door.
After yelling at Anika and the two ladies, they left me to have my body washed on my own. The door opened minutes later after the shower had stopped running, Anika popped her head in, flagging a purple towel and I grabbed it from her hand.
My heart had come back to normal and I was no longer thinking about His Majesty, at least for that moment, my mind was at peace.
After applying lotions and sliding into my underwear. I walked up to the bed to see a pair of black jeans, a black top and a green jacket.
“Fair enough!” I smiled, giving the two ladies thumbs up, while completely ignoring Anika who kept on giving me a creepy smile.
“What’s her deal?” I shook my head before walking to the dresser to apply a lotion before walking back to the bed to put on the outfit.
After cladding in the outfit that had been laid on the bed for me, I walked up to the dresser to style my hair but Anika was fast enough to grab the brush from the table.
“Let me do it!” she smiled, brushing my long-black hair to the back.
“Yeah, whatever.” I smiled as she brushed my hair with care.
“I think tight ponytail will go well with the dress.” she nodded her head, while staring at my hair.
After spending a reasonable time, styling my hair, Anika brought a pair of shiny black heels and helped me with it.
I moved my gaze to the wall clock to see that an hour had already passed.
“Good!” I stood up from the seat to check out myself in the mirror.
“I look nice in this.” I complimented them, turning to Anika who had a wild smile on her face.
“Would your Highness eat breakfast with the family, before heading to the office? Or would your Highness have your breakfast in here, before going to the office.” Anika asked the smile on her face grew wilder as she spoke.
“Breakfast with the family?” I asked, tilting my head to one side. I gasped when I suddenly remembered something and I let out a smile.
“Will His Majesty be there?” I asked, hoping to the goddess that Anika would tell me what I wanted to hear.
Instead, she shook her head slowly and said. “His Majesty won’t be joining the family breakfast.” she let out, picking the moonstone necklace that Aunt Velvena gave me on my coronation day and wore it around my neck.
“Breakfast? Let me have my breakfast here!” I mumbled, moving my gaze off Anika and moving it to my sad reflection in the mirror.
What’s the point of eating with the family if his Majesty won’t be there?
“Yes, Your Highness!” Anika bowed and moved out together with the ladies.
Breakfast of Waffles and eggs was brought later by Shayna and I glared hard at her as soon as she walked in through the door.
“I hope to the goddess you have a good reason for leaving me alone here, last night!” I barked at her, getting my butt off the seat.
She smiled. Placing the tray on the table before bowing to me. “Good morning, my Princess!”
“Start speaking!” I hissed, sitting down on the seat to have my breakfast.
After Aunt Velvena brought me to the King’s hall last night, I had mind-linked Shayna to come stay with me until his Majesty returned. She never came, she told me she couldn’t, that she must not be seen in the building.
“We were warned to stay clear off the King’s hall for the whole week. Madam Velvena didn’t want us to be near the newlywed’s building. So we wouldn’t interrupt anything.” She chuckled as she set the breakfast.
“As if.” I rolled my eyes as I grabbed one waffle and started munching on it.
“Did His Majesty come home last night?” Shayna whispered, moving her gaze around, checking out for His Majesty.
“No,” I mumbled, munching slowly on my breakfast, “he didn’t come home,” I added, grabbing a glass of milk and gulping it down my throat.
“Eat that and meet me outside.” I stood up from the seat after eating a few bites. I wiped my mouth with the napkin and walked out of the room.
Stepping outside, the morning breeze on my skin was the first thing that greeted me, followed by a guy who was standing beside a white car.
“A white car!” I gasped, smirking down at the car in front of my eyes.
“Today must be a good day!” I added as the guy slowly approached me.
“Good morning, Your Highness!” he gave a curt bow and I nodded to his greeting.
“Is Your Highness ready for the office? I will be taking Your Highness to your office when you’re ready.” he let out, smiling as he stared at me with his silver eyes burning into mine.
“Yes, I’m ready for my first day at the office,” I replied, gulping down nervously as the thought of sitting behind a desk all day made my stomach churn.
“But you have to give me some times while I wait for my maid.” I smiled nervously, hoping Shayna will take her time with her breakfast so I can use the chance to get myself together.
“No need to wait, I’m here.” Shayna chuckled, walking out of the building with her eyes sparkling under the morning ray.
“Great! Just great!” I groaned, walking down to the parked car with my heart thumping nervously.
