Prescott’s pov
“I humbly welcome you to my pack, your Majesty!” Alpha Randale of Blue Moon pack slightly bowed before me, his wife stood beside him with her hands wrapped around her pregnant daughter.
“Welcome, your Majesty!” Luna Mackenzie forced out a smile, she nudged her daughter and she let out a sickening hiss.
“We welcome you to our pack, your… your Majesty!” she groaned, shrugging off her shoulders, letting her mother’s hands slide down her arms.
“Thank you!” I uttered, moving my gaze away from them to the building in front of my eyes.
The apartment seemed cozy even though it would hardly contain me and my guys.
“Ahh,” Alpha Randale stepped forward, “here is where you would be staying, there is another apartment at the back for your men!” he divulged, I nodded my head in appreciation.
It was as if he just read my mind. How the hell would I share an apartment with some warriors?
“You?” I pointed at the pregnant girl, his head snapped at me, her eyes widened and her jaw dropped in shock, “take care of the stuff in the cars.” I ordered she mouthed an ‘oh’ before nodding her head.
She seemed relaxed at the mention of ‘stuff in the cars’ and I couldn’t help but ask myself, what the heck was she thinking before? Did she think I was here to cause them trouble?
“Let’s have a look at the reports,” I grunted, Alpha Randale nodded before stepping forward.
“This way, your Majesty.” he took a long stride and I couldn’t help but stride quietly behind him, with my hands crossed to my back.
Dixon, Czar and Raoul strolled behind me, their heavy footsteps echoed in my head as I tried to make sense of why the Rogues decided to visit Blue Moon pack first after he has gone into hiding for so many years.
Was there a reason behind him coming to the Queen’s pack, or was it just a coincidence?
I couldn’t bring myself to find an answer to the numerous questions that flocked my brain.
“We’re here, your Majesty!” Alpha Randale announced when we got to a door that seemed to be his office.
I moved my gaze to the back to see that my guys have also stopped in their tracks.
Alpha Randale opened the door and stepped aside for me to head inside. “Please go in, your Majesty!” he gestured inside the office with his head bowed slightly, I stared at him for a while, and I nodded my head before heading inside.
He closed the door after the three other guys have gotten in. I moved to a one-seater couch and plunged into it.
The guys stood at a distance with their gaze everywhere but on me, Alpha Randale walked towards a coffee machine and made me a cup of coffee.
“Here, your Majesty!” he stretched the cup to me, I gestured to the glass table and he smiled awkwardly before placing the coffee on the table.
“How’s the Queen? Is she doing all right?” he asked with his palms slammed together, I found the question a bit unprofessional so I grumbled out a reply.
“You didn’t call me down here to talk about your daughter, do you?”
Alpha Randale seemed a bit embarrassed, he drew back his hand and forced out a smile.
“I will fetch the reports.” he bowed, then walked away from me.
He returned with a case file in his hands, he dropped the report files on the table and took the seat across from mine.
“Another paper to go through?” I groaned, I felt sick merely staring at the files in front of my eyes.
“Here are the reports I got, concerning a rogue that was spotted at the back wall,” he stated, grabbing a file, and resting it on his lap.
“I would start from here…”
“No!” I howled, startling everyone in the ample office.
Alpha Randale stared at me in complete bewilderment.
“Don’t read out the whole report.” I groaned, clenching my fist on my lap. “You have seen these cases at least once if not two?” I knitted my eyebrows, urging him with my eyes to give me a positive reply.
“Yes… your Majesty!” he drew on his words, being careful of his response to not sound unprofessional. “I have seen these reports a few times, this week, that I could read out everything that was written in there without asking for help.”
Exactly what I wanted to hear.
“Good!” I huffed, while I drew my breath. “Can you summarize all the things that were written in there? I don’t have time to read this junk!” I crossed my legs, resting my back on the backrest of the seat.
“Yes, your Majesty the King!” Alpha Randale cackled, I could sense the irony of his tone.
“As your Highness has known…”
“I know nothing!” I cleared him off whatever shit he was about to say, “Tell me everything you know, don’t add up and don’t exclude anything!” I gruff out the words.
Alpha Randale seemed a little uncomfortable being around me, he cleared his throat and moved uncomfortably in his seat.
“Just a week ago…” he trailed off, moving his gaze up to look at my face. I urged him to continue by staring back at him.
“Just a week ago, a young man whose identity was unknown by anyone in the pack was seen at the pack wall. Our men hunt him down but he escaped…”
“How many of your men were on his tail?” I groaned out, unable to believe his nonsense.
“They were four of them!” Alpha Randale conveyed and I felt my jaw drop in surprise.
“Don’t tell me a rogue got away from four men! How bad could the situation have been that they couldn’t get a grip of one person? were your people always this weak?” I was astounded beyond words could describe.
Alpha Randale seemed to be offended by my choice of words, instead for him to give a response to what I had said, he cleared his throat and continue with whatever he was saying before I interrupted him.
“When the men returned, they described his look and we had it sketched in a paper. The sketch is here.” he took out a file and flipped through the pages. He took out a neat paper and stretched out his hand for me.
I took the paper from him and checked if I could see anything familiar in the sketch, but there was nothing.
“At first, we concluded that the person might just be a passerby and that he might mean no evil, but… That same day, another rogue was caught wandering around the dungeon. He was caught and was taken to the interrogating room.”
“Were you able to get anything from him?” I asked, unable to pick out a fact that pointed to Eruba.
“Not at all, just the name ‘Eruba’ and we found him dead the next day,” he explained, taking out a piece of paper from the file.
“He had this tattoo at the back of his neck, and one of my men confirmed to have seen a man with this same tattoo the day the rogue died in the interrogating room.” Alpha Randale gave the piece of paper to me.
I checked the rough sketch of a wolf with a blue shade and I couldn’t be more pleased to know it was certain the rogues were Eruba’s boys.
“Do you think there’s something about your pack house that could have drawn the rogues in?” I asked, my tone inquiring and probing.
I wanted to get to the bottom of the situation, to figure out what had gone wrong and how to fix it. I couldn’t help but wonder if there was something about the pack house itself that had made it a target for the rogues. Perhaps it was something as simple as a weak security system, or perhaps there was something else going on that was more difficult to pinpoint.
“No, never, there’s nothing like that!” he spoke in guttural sounds.
I had always known that the Blue Moon pack was a paragon of virtue, a shining example of what a werewolf pack could be. Alpha Randale was known for his wisdom, courage, and selflessness, and I had always hated his gut for his commitment to his people.
But if he was asking for my help, something must have gone wrong. Was it just the rogues? Perhaps something had happened to make the pack vulnerable to attack, or perhaps the rogues were somehow more powerful and dangerous than their might.
“You wrote to me for help?” I said, an amused smirk playing on my lips.”I thought you were more than capable of handling your pack’s affairs, yet here you are, asking for my assistance. What happened, did you overestimate your abilities?” I couldn’t help but poke fun at the situation, though I knew he wouldn’t appreciate my teasing. Still, I couldn’t resist the urge to provoke him just a little bit. After all, it was too good an opportunity to pass up and I still have to wait for the confirmation before I could decide whether to help the pack or not.
Alpha Randale moved in his seat, his gaze on mine told me he was scared and I wondered what made him like this.
“I never imagined I’d be standing before the nation’s King, your Majesty, pleading for his help,” he said, his voice heavy with emotion.
“But this situation is beyond my control, and I’m at a loss for what to do. I know it’s a lot to ask, but I’m desperate.” His words were thick with sorrow, and his face was etched with a look of resignation and despair. There was no hiding the fact that he needed a miracle, and he was hoping I would be the one to provide it.
“Your Majesty, the elders just signed the documents and they brought some papers from their offices.” Wharton’s voice echoed in my mind and I sprang up to my feet.
She did it! She fucking made the elders step down from their posting!
“I would be staying here for a week, I would make sure to give you proper security and I would be here until your pack is free from any danger that might be contriving.” I flashed him a toothy smile and I watched his face whirled in shock.
“You’d help us, your Majesty?!” he stood up from his seat, staring at me with his hands shaking in excitement.
I took a step closer to him and placed my hand on his shoulder. “Of course, I would do anything to help this pack, dear in-law!”
