Prescott’s pov
As Elder Bighana narrated the situation to Nova, I relaxed into the seat, waiting for her word to make my wish come true.
I had left her some clue and I was sure she understood what I was saying. I watched her with the corner of my eyes, a faint smile appeared on her face as she pressed her lips into a thin line.
“I vote to disagree!” She blurted out.
It was as if I had hit my ears with a sharp nail. It seemed as though I had lost my hearing.
I sprang up from the seat and pulled her up by the collar of her shirt. My heart hammered against my chest, it was as though my life was crumbling at my feet.
“What did you just say?” I howled, my grip on her shirt tightened and I watched her move her gaze to my hands on the collar of her shirt.
She smirked and stared at me with her jewel-toned eyes.
“I disagree with you ruling the nation on your own!” she whispered to my face and slapped my hands off her shirt.
I stared at her with my jaw clenched in both anger and frustration. How dare she blow up what I had been hoping for, without a hunch of regret?
“Huh?” I took a step back, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
“They want my opinion in this matter, and I have given them my opinion, you are not to rule alone.” with a last glare at me, she stormed out of my office, and I watched her walk out of the door without doing anything to stop her.
“Everyone of you should leave my office, now!” I howled, my legs gave out and I fell on my knees.
The elders scurried out of my office, leaving me alone to face my dilemma.
I felt my face flushed with anger, my brows furrowed and my jaw clenched tight. My eyes were narrowed, my gaze fierce and intense. I seemed poised to snap at any moment, my whole body tense with rage.
My fists were balled up at my sides, and my breathing was heavy and laboured. The anger was palpable, an energy that filled the room and was almost tangible. It was clear that I was furious and ready to lash out.
“Prescott?” Wharton called from the door, his footsteps approaching and I stood up to my feet.
I grabbed my head with my hands, shaking the thought off my head, didn’t want my letdown to be known by my friend.
“Yes, Wharton?” I knitted my brows, turning around to face Wharton who stood with his hard gaze boring invisible holes into my skin.
“Are you okay? What happened?” he asked, plunging into the seat the elders were sitting on, a while ago.
“Nothing. Why did you ask?” I inquired, packing the files on the table.
“You didn’t look so well when I came in. Judging by the files on the table, and the variety of scents I am perceiving, is shown that someone was here. Who was it, the elders?” he asked, eyeing the files in my hands.
“Yes, the elders were here a few moments ago.” I rolled my eyes, remembering what happened early.
“Why were they here? Do you have a meeting with the elders without me? What’s with the file?” he motioned at the files in my hands, I moved the files to my back and turned away from him.
“We discussed our pending topic. But it seems like there is nothing I could do to discard the elders. I have concluded,” I paused, walking away from him and to the office table, I plunged into the seat and grabbed some files underneath the cases files that arrived earlier this morning.
“I think I should keep the elders, they should focus on the affairs of the states while I focus on the unknown rogue and see if I’ll get to unravel his identity.” I took out the file that came from Blue Moon pack and decided to tend to it first.
“I think that’s a good decision.” Wharton stood up from the couch and dragged his feet towards me.
“Do you have any information about the rogue, Eruba?” he asked, glaring into my eyeballs as if he was searching for his answer.
I dragged my hands to the table. “No. I don’t have any information about him.”
“Okay, I hope we do soon.” he took a case file before plunging into the seat across from mine.
I watched his expression stiffen when he read through the case, he clenched his jaw before dropping the file on the table.
“I don’t know but I think it would be hard to catch the leader of the rogues and his minors.” he blurted out, brushing his hair to the back.
“Why would you say that?” I rested on the seat, folding my arms around my chest.
Wharton pinched the edge of his nose before looking away from me, he sighed and then tapped his fingers on the table.
“A rogue leader whose identity has been hidden for over a decade, a rogue leader whose gender identity hasn’t been discovered. We don’t even know his name, isn’t Eruba the name one of the rogues yelled when we are torturing him, how are we sure the name is truly Eruba?” Wharton exclaimed, pulling his hair as he threw his head backwards.
I adjusted in my seat with a finger resting under my jaw. I made sense of what the royal better just said and I found out that we had been chasing the unknown.
What if there was no leader? What if the name ‘Eruba’ doesn’t even exist? What if who we were searching for is even near?
If I need an answer, I think I need to visit the places the rogues with the blue wolf tattoo have been found.
“Prepare five best men, we are leaving for the west pack tomorrow.” I tossed the case file from the Blue Moon pack at him, Wharton caught it in the air, staring at me with a confused look on his face.
“Why the sudden order?” he asked, his face held no emotions and I wondered what was on his mind.
“Some rogues were spotted on the wall of the West packs. News about a rogue leader has been circulating in the Western packs and it won’t be long before the news reach other packs. My fear is happening, the nation will soon be in uproar once everyone learns of the rogue leader with a blue mark. He wants to feed on people’s fear and that’s happening.” I banged my fist on the table, fearing what the nation will become when the rogues start their warfare.
“Oh! This is so much to take in.” Wharton mumbled, staring at the case file in his hand.
“Don’t report this issue to the elders. Also, don’t file any statement for my sudden disappearance tomorrow.” I ordered, Wharton nodded and he stood up to go get my orders done.
He made to walk away when I called him back. He turned around to face me with his brows raised.
“But first, send a message to Alpha Randale of Blue Moon pack, tell him to prepare a place for our arrival.
