Nova’s pov
I sat at the edge of the Lycan King… Nope, King Prescott. I sat at the edge of his bed, while a maid was fixing my hair.
This was my second time in King Prescott’s bed chamber. Aunt Velvena had insisted that I should dress up for his return and here I was, getting dressed in a red babydoll, my hair was packed in a messy bun and the necklace around my neck would glow every time my heart thump like it was going to ripe off.
‘Make sure you give it your all, because I can’t wait to become a grand Aunt.’
I remembered what Aunt Velvena said to me before leaving. I grabbed a buffer and held it to my chest.
Will he truly do it with me? I do not know!
“I think we’re all done!” the two maids exclaimed, staring at me with their gazes filled with happiness. I hide my face in my palms, feeling embarrassed.
“Okay, thank you.” I couldn’t bring myself to look them in the eyes, I knew I looked like a sex worker who has been dressed, waiting for her master to come to claim her body.
My face flushed with embarrassment and I didn’t want the maids to see my flushed cheeks.
“There’s no soul anywhere around this building, don’t be scared to moan out his name.” one of the maids grinned before trotting out of the room.
I let out a deep breath before moving to the bed, I crossed my arms around my chest and rested my back on the headrest of the king-sized bed.
“He wouldn’t touch me, would he?” I pulled a puzzled look before glancing towards the door.
“He doesn’t seem like a person who would touch people without their consent, is that right?” I whined at myself when it seemed like I was worrying about the things that I knew it’s untrue.
I moved my gaze to the ceiling and the red light that was emerging from the tiny bulb made the room look more livable.
“The maids must have changed the bulb, the last time I was here, the light from the bulb was white, isn’t it?” I was busy admiring the bulb that I didn’t sense a soul was by the door.
The door crept open and the beast himself walked in with each step he took, sending shudder to my body.
I moved uncontrollably on the bed and watched him stroll towards the dresser with a bottle of alcohol in his hand.
He slammed the bottle on the table and let out an ear-blasting howl. I moved uncomfortably on the bed and pulled the duvet over my chest.
“You?” He groaned, and slid his hands off the jacket, letting the long black robe fall to the ground. “How dare you come into my room after warning you not to?” he picked up the bottle from the dresser and threw it at the wall and it broke into tiny pieces.
I trembled on the bed and pressed my palm to my lips, stopping myself from screaming out loud.
He banged his fist on the dresser before marching towards me.
I moved away from the edge of the bed and stood up to my feet. I gripped the slit at the upper part of the babydolls nightwear and pulled it together to cover my cleavage.
“What are you trying to do? Seducing me to have my attention, huh?” he howled at me and I held my breath in dismay.
I moved my gaze to the floor, hitching my toes with my foot. My lips trembled slightly and I let out a muffled cry.
“I told you not to overplay your role but you just did that now, why?” he roared and I gasped in fear.
He took a step closer but I moved back in fear, With each step he took, I made sure I took the same steps backwards just so he wouldn’t get to me.
I was beginning to regret ever following his Aunt here, didn’t he mean it when he told his Aunt to have a maid bring me to his room?
Were all those mere words he said, for his Aunt to believe that he truly marry me for love? Was that all a facade he pulled just to look good amidst his people?
A tear dropped from the brim of my eyes. I should have known he was faking it all along and I wouldn’t be here by now.
“I have never seen anyone as dumb and stupid as you.” he chuckled lightly and pushed me to the wall, my back crashed against the wall and I let out a muffled gasp.
“I brought you here to use you to get freedom. I should have known you werewolves are full of ill luck, instead of choosing you, I would have gone for a mere low-life Omega.” he spat on my face, I shut tight my lid and allow him to tear my heart apart with his words.
I couldn’t say anything to defend myself. All I did was shut my eyes and let him tear my heart into tiny pieces with his hateful words.
I was worrying about him touching me earlier, and now I was worrying about him not finding my body attractive enough.
Why the hell did he claim me as his wife in front of the nation when he’s going to reject me in his bed chamber?
“People only want a like of you for your body, they have no other choices to make with you. But I want neither your body nor your contribution. Just stay out of my lane and enjoy the title I’ve given you. After all, that’s the only thing you could ever do.” he moved away from me, and I let out a deep breath as fresh air sprung through the window.
“That room opposite mine is yours to reside. Never come in here again, and know I would never have anything to do with you because you’re worthless of my touch.” he spat out carelessly and walked away from me, he headed back to the dresser and I heard a bang on the table.
His words were like a sharp arrow that was made of pure Silver. It pierced into my chest and tore my heart into tiny pieces. His words killed me from the inside and I wasn’t sure I would be able to heal from this.
I gripped the doorknob and twisted the door open. I stepped outside of his room, my back was on the door and I slid to the floor, weeping like my world has came crumbled to my feet.
“Poor you! I didn’t know you weren’t aware that you didn’t mean anything to him, I thought you knew.” A plummy voice whispered beside me. I moved my gaze up only to meet with those chestnut eyes of that lady at the ballroom.
She was the lady who had her eyes on King Prescott throughout the coronation. I wondered why she was here, but I was too depressed that I couldn’t bring myself to say a word to her.
“I’m so sorry, sweetheart.” she let her back slide down from the wall until she was squatting on the floor beside me. She moved her palm to my chin and raised my face to look at her.
“I was here to formally introduce myself, but I didn’t know he would be here before me, my bad!” she pouted and wiped out my tears.
“Don’t be too emotional, Prescott forgot to let you in on our plan that we only need you as his substitute Queen, not as his wife.” the lady fake a sad face and I moved my face away from her grip.
“You don’t need to tell me that, he has already told me everything.” I hate to agree with the lady that the King used me.
But isn’t that right? He used me to get whatever freedom he said he needed. What will happen after he gets the so-called freedom? He’s going to rescind me like a piece of work.
“Oops, that must be tough for you.” she sighed and stood up straight. “Don’t worry, as his sweetheart, I’ll make sure I put in a good word for you so he could be a little nice to you.” she chuckled and I felt my wolf stirred for the third time today.
What? Was she truly his woman? Did he bring me here to be a substitute for her?
Tears streamed down my cheeks as I watched her push past me and entered his room.
