Prescott’s pov
The after-party ceremony took longer than I expected, I grabbed Randale’s daughter… No, I grabbed Nova’s hand and walked her out of the ceremony ground. The guests flashed us their best smiles, chanting, “Long live the King!”, “Long live the Queen!”
Nova shyly lifted her hand, waving at the guests as we passed them by.
I tightened my grip on her hand and she let out a muffled, hoarse yelp.
We had taken off the mantle and we had changed into another outfit. Nova was clad in a black evening dress that revealed the upper part of her body, she looked uncomfortable considering that it was cold outside.
I didn’t know whose idea it was, but she was verily stupid for wearing such a dress in this weather.
“Congratulations, your Majesty!” Aunt Velvena, my Dad’s older sister and only sibling walked up to us with a wooden bowl in her hands.
She stopped in front of Nova and flashed her a heartwarming smile.
“Congratulations, dear, thank you for considering my nephew worthy enough to be your groom.” she cupped Nova’s cheek with one palm, while she held the wooden bowl with her other hand.
“Thank you, ma’am.” Nova bowed slightly, her shoulders slightly brushed against my arm and I let out a grunt.
“Call me Velvena, dear!” she grinned and I scoffed impatiently.
“Aunt, can you please go already, I have things to do.” I let go of Nova’s hand, and she stared at me with her bottle-green eyes that I found annoying, I moved my gaze away from her to Aunt Velvena who wouldn’t stop grinning at us.
“You two remind me of my wedding day! It has been a century ago, and the memory of the beautiful night, at the packed beach with my late husband lagged in my memory.” she gushed, her glossy eyes sparking under the moonlight.
“Can you please excuse us? I need to be someone.” I groaned, glaring at my persistent Aunt who wouldn’t quit babbling.
“You can leave the Queen with me and go to wherever you need to go, I’ll take care of her.” Aunt blurted out, I nodded my head and tried to walk away from her before she called me back.
“You should spare me a second.” Aunt dipped her hand into the empty bowl, and I almost scoffed at her silliness.
“This is our tradition and I hope you receive it with a clean heart!” she pulled out her hand from the bowl, waved her hand in the air and flapped it at us.
Moonstone dust appeared and fell on our heads. Nova beamed, taking the pearly white semi-precious stones in her palms and I rolled my eyes at her childish act.
“May the goddess bless you and may the power of the moon shine upon your marriage.” she dipped her hand into the empty bowl yet again and brought out a shiny stone necklace.
“Help me with this.” she stretched forth her palm and I took the bowl from her.
“Come here, dear,” Nova bent her head and Aunt wore the necklace on her. The necklace shone brightly after it made contact with the moon, my wolf stirred and I let out a hoarse groan.
“Have the maids take her to my room when you’re done with her.” I blurted out the words that came to my mind and I gave the bowl back to her before walking away from them.
The day was still young and the beautiful Blue Moon wrapped around the sky. My mind linked with the Royal Beta, his deep croaky voice echoed through my mind.
“Yes, your Majesty!” he sounded so hoarse and I wondered if his attitude has anything to do with my reaction to Ulrica, earlier at my place.
“Get the elders to the courtroom, now!” I ordered, hastening my footsteps as I completely marched out of the ceremony ground.
“Is that all?” he groaned out yet again, I let out a sigh.
“Go to my office, fetch the documents I’d prepared for the elders and bring them to the courtroom.” I cut the link before he could reply.
I needed to end everything with the elders first, then I’ll apologise to my friends later. I had gone this far to take everything from the elders, I can’t let friendship get in my way now that I was a step away from achieving my plans.
I wanted to get to the courtroom as soon as possible, so I shut my eyes, letting the cool breeze work on my hair as I speed to the building.
I opened my eyes and walked inside the building where the courtroom was located.
“His Majesty, the Lycan King is here!” the guard announced before opening the door for me.
I stride in majestically, my black coat sweeping the floor after me.
“Congratulations on your wedding!” the elders rose to their feet, their gaze on the marble floor and I smirked to myself, feeling proud of myself for the plan.
“You may sit!” I took my seat on the high seat, watching the elders sit down on their various seats.
I rest in my seat and watched the nation’s elders with keen interest.
“You called for us?!” elder Felan, the #2 ranked elder spoke up impatiently, I wiggled my brows and wondered what could be so important that he had to speak to me in such a manner.
“Yes, I called this meeting as soon as the ceremony ended.” I adjusted in my seat and gazed towards the door when I sensed Wharton’s scents near the courtroom.
“He’s here!” the door crept open and Wharton marched in, fuming as he made his way to us.
“Greetings, your Majesty. Greetings, wise elders!” he bowed, his fist clenched to his side.
“Please step forward with the documents.” I howled out impatiently.
The elders remained silent in their seats as Wharton strolled passed them. He climbed to the dais and handed over the documents to me.
I received them with a huge grin plastered on my face. I gripped the documents and waved them in the air.
“Is that what I’m thinking, your Majesty?!” elder Bighana whispered and I nodded with a wide grin.
“Yes,” I moved my gaze from them to Wharton who crossed his arms around his chest. “After finding a bride as my wise elders have suggested, I think it’s time for you people to step down from your various positions and leave the matter of the nation for me since I’m now a family man.”
Eerily silence took over the room, I stood up from the seats and so was the elders. I strolled majestically to them and dumped the documents on the furniture.
They grabbed the documents and shared them among themselves. I sat at the edge of the table and rested my palm on Elder Bighana’s shoulder.
“Why so soon, my King? The nation hasn’t been a better place yet, I would suggest you keep us until we find the rogue leader.” elder Bighana mumbled worriedly.
“Ain’t you quite old to worry about the nation, when you have a young King who can carry the matters of this nation on his broad shoulders?!” I raised my shoulders, the elders sighed heavily and I shook my head.
“We can’t retire just yet.” elder Felan howled and I knitted my brows at him.
“Does that looks like I care about your opinion?” I smirked, I didn’t plan to end things with a fight so I shook my head and let my anger wash away from my mind.
“Still, we have the right to decide our retirement!” he spat out and I speed to him.
“I prepared the documents beforehand. Willingly or not, you’re stepping down from your position and that’s happening today!” I barked at him, jerking him before pushing him to his seat.
The two youngest elders stared at us, unable to say anything to contribute to the matter.
“Why? Why do you have to do that?” elder Bighana mumbled, he moved towards the shelf and pulled out a file.
“Why do you suddenly want to get rid of us?” he asked, moving towards me with an old file in his hand.
“Because you’re making me feel like an incompetent King!” I moved away from the rest of the elders and strolled towards the oldest man in the room.
Elder Bighana tossed the file at me and I caught it in the air.
“You just got married and it hasn’t been up to 72 hours yet,” he argued and strolled to fetch another file from the vast shelf.
I hastily opened the file and read through the pages.
“Three things a King should do before ruling the nation on his own, really?” I read the inscription out loud, elder Bighana nodded for me to continue.
“He must be a family man: he must have a bride.” I chuckled at the first rule and moved my gaze to the elders, who have their hard gaze boring a hole at me.
“Isn’t that what I just did?” I smirked wildly.
“Read the rest of the rule.” elder Bighana ordered and I moved the file to my face.
“He must have ruled the nation alongside his bride for a long, seemingly endless period of time.” I was beginning to get furious with the new rule and I glared hard at the elder who stood proudly in front of me.
“Why didn’t you tell me this?” I arched my brows at him, daring him to give me a flimsy excuse.
“Because you never asked if there were any rules that attacked to ‘getting rid’ of the thousands of years elders,” he smirked at me.
I was already getting cranky, merely looking at him, I wanted to rip off his head so badly that it was hard for me to control the urge.
“He must at least have a decade-old heir!” I howled out the third rule and tore the file into tiny pieces.
They fooled me to get married!
They lied to me, they used me!
I groaned, my wolf stirred, my eyes burnt in rage. I took a deadly step towards the elder who was beginning to get worried about my hard glare.
“Who the hell made such a sick rule?” I barked, I couldn’t calm myself anymore.
“The rules have been in existence even before I was born.” he howled at me.
In one swift, I grabbed the elder by his neck and threw him to the shelf. His heavyweight stumbled upon the shelf before landing on the floor with a loud thud.
He groaned and I charged at him, I lifted my hand in the air, claws were already sprawling out of my fingers, ready to whack it into his neck when I remembered my father’s dying words to me.
“Respect the elders, Prescott! Promise me no matter what happens, you’ll respect them and obey their commands. They will help you to lead the nation in the right way, so please respect their decisions.”
I howled out, I was unable to recognise my voice. Again, I couldn’t do anything about the elders because of my father’s wish.
I fell to the ground, gasping for air as my mind had been clouded by revenge.
