KEIRAN’s POV.
As I turned to leave, I saw her. Kaida. Her eyes were wide with fear and glistening with unshed tears, her face pale. She took a step back, her hands raised as if to shove me aside. Her gaze darted to Asher’s lifeless body, and her tears dropped from her eyes to her cheeks.
“Keiran, what… what have you done?” she stammered, her voice trembling.
I sneered, feeling no remorse for my actions. “You know exactly what I’ve done, Kaida. I took care of the problem. The one you created due to how stubborn and slutty you are.”
Her eyes dropped to Asher’s body, and she let out a blood-curdling scream. “You killed him! You killed my mate! You monster! You fucking killed him!”
My gaze landed on her shoulder and I smiled as I watched her mate mark evaporate into thin air. “He was no mate of yours. He was a pathetic excuse for a wolf who thought he could steal you from me. And you are a stupid fool to believe any one of those lies that he must have told you.”
Kaida’s face contorted in rage, and she launched herself at me, her fists hitting my chest repeatedly till it started to hurt. “You monster! I’ll never forgive you! You deserve to rot in hell!”
I caught her wrists, my grip tight around her wrist. “You dare to hit me? After what you’ve done? You have some nerves you foolish she wolf.”
“I hate you!” she spat, her eyes blazing with rage. “I’ll always hate you! I wish you die!”
I laughed, a cold mirthless sound. “You hate me? You, who cheated on me? Who knew I loved you, yet still went ahead to betray me? Who fucked another wolf and came back to me for kisses and cuddles!”
Kaida’s face twisted in anguish, but I didn’t care. I was mad beyond reason. I tightened my grip, my nails digging into her skin.
“You drove me to this, Kaida. You and your lies, your deceit. You’re just as guilty as he was.”
She struggled against me, but I held her close. “Let me go!” she screamed.
“No,” I snarled, my face inches from hers. “You’re not going anywhere. You’re going to stay here and face the consequences of your actions.”
“You’re a monster, Keiran,” Kaida spat, her voice venomous. “You’re a control freak who can’t handle the fact that I stopped loving you. You monster! You can not handle the truth, that’s why I have been lying to you to hide the fact that I no longer love you.”
I laughed again, the sound echoing through the old oak clearing. “You lied so you can continue using me.”
Kaida’s face twisted in anger. “How dare you! I never used you. I loved you, Keiran. I really did.”
“Loved me?” I repeated, my voice dripping with mockery. “You call this love? Cheating on me, lying to me, betraying me at the slightest chance ?”
Kaida’s eyes dropped, and for a moment, I thought I saw shame but then she proved me wrong by spewing more venomous words. “You drove me to it, Keiran. Your possessiveness, your jealousy. You suffocated me.”
I shook my head, my palm itching me to slap her. “You’re just making excuses, Kaida. You’re trying to justify your betrayal.”
“I’m not justifying anything,” she shot back. “I’m telling you the truth. You’re a toxic, controlling partner, and I’m better off without you.”
My grip on her wrists tightened, and I pulled her closer. “You’re not going anywhere, Kaida. You’re mine, and I’ll never let you go.”
“I’ll never be yours again, Keiran. Never.”
And with that, she twisted herself free from my grasp and turned to run. But I was too quick. I caught her in a few strides and dragged her back, spinning her around to face me and twisted her arm behind her back.
“You’re not going anywhere,” I snarled, my teeth bared and dripping with saliva.
Kaida’s eyes locked on mine, and for a moment, we just stared at each other, the air thick with tension.
Then, in a flash of movement, she freed her hand and slapped me across the face.
Kaida’s hand collided against my cheek, sending a stinging sensation through my skin. I felt my anger surge, my control slipping. She raised her hand again, and I caught it, my grip around her like it would crush her bone.
“You dare to hit me?” I hissed.
Kaida struggled against me. ” Yes, and I will again! Let me go, Keiran!”
I laughed, the sound cold and harsh. “You think you can hit me and get away with it?”
I dragged her closer, my fingers digging into her arms, leaving my marks. She tried to break free, but I held her fast.
“You’re going to pay for that,” I hissed.
Kaida’s face paled in fear, but she refused to back down. She raised her hand again, and I caught it.
“Don’t,” I warned, my voice low and deadly.
But she didn’t listen. She kept struggling, kept trying to hit me. And with each blow, my patience thinned further.
Finally, I lost it. My anger consumed me, and I reached my breaking up, I closed my eyes calling up the black magic that lurked there.
Kaida’s eyes widened as I raised my hand, my fingers moving slowly as I cast a spell of suffocation. She tried to scream, but her voice was cut off as the magic wrapped around her throat.
She struggled, her body thrashing against mine, but I held her tight. The magic tightened, squeezing the air from her lungs.
And then, she went limp, her eyes rolled back and her mouth wide open.
Then, I let her fall to the ground, her body dropping on the floor like a rag doll.
I stood over her, my mind racing. I had to think of someone to frame for her death. Someone who would take the blame for my crime.
And then, a name popped into my head. Akira.
